7. 20 0 0o00 le SESE BRE BEA 00000 The second report about cleanliness evaluation of the root canal by ATP measurement Naoya NISHIKIORI Shuusuke TAKAGI Takanobu KUSUNOKI Hiroki NISHINO Hiromi SHIINO and Hirokazu HATSU YA Kanagawa Chiba Saitama Tokyo Abstract The bioluminescence is well known and the glow of afirefly is most especially studied in detail Samples are added to the reaction system and the concentration of ATP adenosine triphosphate can be measured by the quantity of luminescence ATP is concerned with microbial metabolism such as bacteria and fungi The measurement of quantity of ATP has significance same as a test which indicates the sanitation of the root canal can be possible without culture test The aim of this study is to know how clean the infected root canal is measuring the quantity of ATP obtained from the root canal The relative light unit RLU value of samples from the root canals indicates higher in the Class which exists intensely the clinical symptoms of the apical periodontitis and lower in the Class 3 which exists symptomless With the progress of the endodontic treatment the RLU value decreases in most cases The cleanliness of the root canal can be found from the quantity of ATP obtained from the rootcanal By the change of the quantity the optimal time for the root canal obturation can be determined
