3. ete the connection Gently pull on the cable to ensure it is firmly connected To test the interlinking system press and release the test button on one alarm while listening for an alarm sound on the others within a 10 seconds It may be necessary to operate the test button more than once The light on the alarm you are testing will flash red once every second The lights on any interconnected alarms will flash once every minute User Information Protect your Home Against Fire Contact you local Fire Brigade for a home safety check this information is free and will identify potential fire hazards in and around your home Make sure all occupants of the home know what a fire alarm sounds like Prove and practise a fire escape plan and arrange a suitable and safe assembly point What to Do if the Alarms Sound Alarm Warning Sounds three beeps every 4 seconds Full Alarm Indicating Smoke and fire with flashing light Low Battery Single beep every minute Repeating Series of Test Button Jammed Single Beep every 11 seconds Double beep every minute WARNING Do not store alarms in temperatures below 5 degrees and above 30 degrees and in low humidity this may cause beeping and nuisance alarms when first installed These will clear after a short time when the alarm has become acclimatised Extended periods under these conditions will reduce the life of the alarms and invalidate the warranty Ensure everyone leaves the build

5. he side wall as shown below and turn the security alarm clockwise tag while holding the mounting plate select desired location refer to the Section above Screw the mounting base to ceiling using the fixings provided Line up the arrow on the back of the alarm with the arrow inside the mounting plate and mount the alarm Once the alarm is on the mounting plate twist it clockwise to lock it into place until the security tag clicks in to place The sealed in battery will be automatically switched on and the alarm powered up Testing the Alarm Press and release the test button to test the alarm The alarm should sound three times with a flashing red light then stop After testing check that the red light flashes approximately every minute Test the alarm once a week to ensure correct operation WARNING The electronic test button provides a full test of the alarms functionality Do not try to test the alarm using either heat smoke or naked flame as damage will occur Interlinkable Alarms Maximum 15 When interlinking alarms use twin speaker or bell wire to connect alarms like to like i e positive terminal on one alarm to positive terminal on the other and negative to negative See diagram below After fitting the alarm to the ceiling firmly depress the white block marked A below with a tool while inserting the cable into the square hole above marked B Now release pressure on the white block to compl

11. nstall in areas subjected to heavy concentrations of cigarette smoke that will cause nuisance alarms and the alarm to become contaminated Do not install smoke alarms in kitchens boiler rooms and garages where fumes and dust may Cause nuisance alarms Do not install heat alarms in sleeping areas for example bedrooms nurseries playrooms or areas where the elderly and disabled may spend long periods of time Do not install on poorly insulated walls and ceilings where cold air boundary layers could prevent smoke reaching the alarm amp 10 Do not install near objects that could prevent smoke and heat reaching the alarm W 11 Do not install within 1500mm of fluorescent light fitting that could trigger nuisance alarms 1 12 Do not paint the alarm The location of the alarms must be in accordance with applicable building regulations in particular Part B Further help and guidance can also be found in BS5839 part 6 1 2 KY 9 Further Detailed information on Alarm Location 1 Atleast one smoke alarm should be installed in the escape route on all floors of the building 2 The detection element of smoke alarms should be between 25mm and 600mm below the ceiling or in the case of heat alarms between 25mm and 150mm 3 Smoke and heat alarms should be at least 300mm from any wall or light fitting If ceiling mounting is impractical smoke alarms may be installed on walls provided that the area is no longer or
