The ON OFF lever is a wire signal arm Down for making ice automatically Up to shut off the ice maker e Shake the bin occasionally to keep cubes sepa rated and to obtain increased storage capacity On C W Raise Signal Lower Signal Arm to Stop Ice Maker Arm to Start It Energy saving tips You can help your freezer use less electricity e Check door gasket and level freezer to assure a good door seai Clean the condenser coils regularly Keep door openings to a minimum Remove several items at one time Keep contents organized to elimi nate searching Fill to capacity Follow recommended procedures for freezing foods See pages 9 and 10 Cleaning your freezer e t is normal for ice crescents to be attached by a corner They will break apart easily e You will hear water running when ice maker is working You ll hear ice fall into the bin Don t let these sounds bother you e The ice maker will not operate until the freezer is cold enough to make ice This can take overnight e Because of new plumbing connections the first ice may be discolored or off flavored Discard the first few batches of ice e If you remove the ice bin raise the signal arm to shut off the ice maker When you return the bin push it all the way in and lower the arm to the ON position e If cubes are stored too long they may develop an off flavor like stale water Throw them away They will be replaced Cubes in the

9. ignal Light If the signal light is not glowing immediately check e for power interruption e for an unplugged power cord e for a burned out signal light WARNING To avoid possible shocks first unplug freezer or turn off electricity leadIng to freezer at the main power supply 1 Remove the light shield from the side of the control panel Depress the back of the shield to release the tabs then pull away 2 Replace bulb with a 40 watt appliance bulb 3 Replace the light shield Insert the shield tabs in the slots then press the shield to snap into place 4 Plug in power cord or switch on electricity To lock or unlock the freezer you must hold the key in the lock while turning The lock is spring loaded so the key cannot be left in the lock If the key is lost contact your WHIRLPOOL dealer for a replacement Always give the com plete model and serial number of your freezer when requesting a replacement key To replace burned out signal light 1 Unplug power cord from outlet 2 Open the freezer door 3 Unplug burned out light and replace with one of same wattage and size Signal light can be ordered from your WHIRLPOOL dealer Part No 1103680 4 Close freezer door and plug power cord into outlet Optional automatic ice maker If you have the automatic ice maker accessory or plan to add one later Part No ECKMF 83 and wiring harness 1103831 there are a few things you will need 1o know e
