More than 15 degrees too high e Under certain conditions illumination may not turn on until about one second after you turn the face of the watch towards you This does not necessarily indicate malfunction of the auto light switch e You may notice a very faint clicking sound coming from the watch when it is shaken back and forth This sound is caused by mechanical operation of the auto light switch and does not indicate a problem with the watch Tachymeter Tachymeter bezel If your watch has a tachymeter bezel you can perform the steps below to calculate average speed after using the Stopwatch Mode to measure the amount of time that it takes to travel one kilometer or one mile e Never try to perform stopwatch operations while you are driving an automobile riding a bicycle or operating any type of vehicle Doing so is very dangerous and can result in accident In the Stopwatch Mode start an elapsed time operation at any point you like Stop the elapsed time operation after you travel one kilometer or one mile Your average speed will be the value that the second hand is pointing to on the tachymeter bezel e The illustration shows an example where it took 50 seconds to travel one kilometer by car The second hand is pointing at 70 which indicates that the average speed is 70 kilometers per hour Guide 4719 e See Stopwatch for details about using the stopwatch e The tachymeter can be used only wh
3. 1 In the Timekeeping Mode press four times to enter the Hand Setting Mode 2 In the Hand Setting Mode hold down until 0 0 starts to flash which indicates the analog setting screen e The second hand is at the proper home position if it moves to 12 o clock If it doesn t press 8 to move it to 12 o clock 3 After confirming that the second hand is at the proper home position press This will switch to hour hand and minute hand home position adjustment Hm flashes Minute hand Hour hand e The hour hand and minute hand are at their proper home positions if they both move to 12 o clock and if the 24 hour hand is pointing at hour 24 If the hands are not positioned correctly use B to move them to their proper home positions After confirming that the hour hand and minute hand are both at their proper home positions press This will switch to stopwatch 1 20 second hand home position adjustment 20 flashes e The stopwatch 1 20 second hand is at the proper home position if it moves to 0 If it doesn t use to move it to 0 After confirming that the stopwatch 1 20 second hand is at the proper home position press This will switch to stopwatch minute hand home position adjustment 60 flashes e The stopwatch minute hand is at the proper home position if it moves to 60 If it doesn t use B to move it to 60 6 Press to exit the setting screen e After you complete the home position

10. signal and make reception temporarily impossible e Even if the time calibration signal is received properly certain conditions can cause the time setting to be off by up to one second e The current time setting in accordance with the time calibration signal takes priority over any time settings you make manually e The watch is designed to update the date and day of the week automatically for the period January 1 2000 to December 31 2099 Setting of the date by the time calibration signal will not be performed starting from January 1 2100 e This watch can receive signals that differentiate between leap years and non leap years e Though this watch is designed to receive both time data hour minutes seconds and date data year month day certain signal conditions can limit reception to time data only e If you are in an area where proper time calibration signal reception is impossible the watch keeps time within 20 seconds a month at normal temperature e If you have problems with proper time calibration signal reception or if the time setting is wrong after signal reception check your current Home Time Zone and DST summer time Transmitters This watch is designed to receive the time calibration signal transmitted from Mainflingen Germany and the signal from Anthorn England You can configure the watch to select the transmitter that has the strongest signal automatically In this case The watch does this The f

17. int for UTC is Greenwich England Illumination Precautions e The illumination provided by the light may be hard to see when viewed under direct sunlight e Illumination automatically turns off whenever an alarm sounds e Frequent use of illumination shortens the battery operating time Auto light switch precautions e Wearing the watch on the inside of your wrist movement of your arm or vibration of your arm can cause frequent activation of the auto light switch and illuminate the face of the watch To avoid running down the battery turn off the auto light switch whenever engaging in activities that might cause frequent illumination of the face e Note that wearing the watch under your sleeve while the auto light switch is turned on can cause frequent illumination of the face and can run down the battery e Illumination may not turn on if the face of the watch is more than 15 degrees above or below parallel Make sure that the back of your hand is parallel to the ground e Illumination turns off in about one second even if you keep the watch pointed towards your face e Static electricity or magnetic force can interfere with proper operation of the auto light switch If illumination does not turn on try moving the watch back to the starting position parallel with the ground and then tilt it back towards your face again If this does not work drop your arm all the way down so it hangs at your side and then bring it back up again

19. larm is turned on the alarm sounds when the f alarm time is reached Alarm time 24 e All of the operations in this section are performed in the hour hand Alarm Mode which you enter by pressing To set an alarm time 1 In the Alarm Mode hold down for about two seconds to display the setting mode 2 Use to change the alarm time e Each press of B moves the hands clockwise in one minute steps 3 After setting the alarm time press to exit the setting mode e Setting the alarm time causes the alarm to turn on automatically Alarm time On Off status hour hand Alarm Operation The alarm tone sounds at the preset time for 10 seconds regardless of the mode the watch is in e Alarm operations are performed in accordance with the Timekeeping Mode time e Pressing any button stops the alarm tone operation To toggle an alarm on and off In the Alarm Mode press 8 to toggle the alarm on ON and off OF e The watch will beep when you turn on the alarm Adjusting the Home Positions e f the time and date settings are off even after the time calibration signal is received normally use the following procedure to adjust their home positions e You can use the procedure in this section to adjust the position of the second hand the stopwatch minute hand and stopwatch 1 20 second hand whenever they do not align with the 12 o clock position when you enter the Hand Setting Mode To adjust the home positions
20. ll not enter the sleep state between 6 00 AM and 9 59 PM If the watch is already in the sleep state when 6 00 AM arrives however it will remain in the sleep state To recover from the sleep state Perform any one of the following operations e Move the watch to a well lit area e Press any button Auto Return Features e f you leave the watch in the Alarm or Hand Setting Mode for two or three minutes without performing any operation it returns to the Timekeeping Mode automatically e If you do not perform any operation for about two or three minutes while a setting mode is selected the watch will exit the setting mode automatically Scrolling e The B button is used to change the hand setting in various setting modes In most cases holding down this button will start high speed movement of the applicable hand s e High speed movement of hands will continue until you press any button or until the moving hand s finishes one complete cycle One complete cycle for the hands is one revolution 860 degrees or 24 hours Operation Radio controlled Atomic Timekeeping Precautions e Strong electrostatic charge can result in the wrong time being set e The time calibration signal bounces off the ionosphere Because of this such factors as changes in the reflectivity of the ionosphere as well as movement of the ionosphere to higher altitudes due to seasonal atmospheric changes or the time of day may change the reception range of the
