1. 7. mm The following apply 1 0 mm Connect normally y y 0 5 mm If connecting one conductor 0 5 mm to a pillar terminal without pressure plate attach a metal crimp use crimping tool to the connecting end before fastening the screw If connecting one conductor 0 5 mm to a pillar terminal with pressure plate the conductor can be connected and fastened normally like a 10mm conductor If connecting two or more conductors into the same terminal regardless of type do the following Attach a metal crimp use crimping tool over any 0 5 mm conductor s and place the crimp s cover ing the conductor s into the terminal Then fasten normally Complete the warranty form Advice regarding thermostats and regulators Electrical floor heating provides a very comfortable and economic heat Floor heating is somewhat slower to regulate than wall mounted heating and the best results are achieved when using an electronic thermostat for temperature control In wet rooms it is common to use a thermostat with a floor sensor only Comfort able bare foot temperature is usually around 26 C 79 F Standards approvals The MILLICABLE FLEX is tested in conformity with IEC EN 60335 1 IEC 60335 2 96 User Manual To ensure a comfortable and long lasting heated floor follow these guidelines The heating cable installation is not to be turned on before the adhesive mortar screed concrete has hardened naturally
8. resistant if in a wet room with minimum thickness 5 mm above the insulation t is often a good choice to start with placing the splice in the floor near the hermostat The splice must not be placed in a tube or in a wall The end seal is preferably placed in a dry zone of the floor Apply glue or attach with Aluminium tape point by point to keep the heating cable in place at the correct C C distance Attach lightly first so corrections can be done When the entire heating cable is laid you can attach fully as it is important that the cable will stay in place when the floor is poured Keep an even distance between he cable loops to ensure an even floor temperature and avoid at all times over apping or crossing of cables as this causes unwanted thermal effects Heating cables shall not be installed beneath kitchen cupboards walls or other permanent installations which do not allow air circulation Keep at least 3 cm dis ance from such objects Furniture that stands on the heated area must have feet o ensure that air can circulate and that heat emission from the floor is possible The heating cable is never to be cut or shortened in any way f a floor sensor is connected to the thermostat this should be installed inside a ube exactly between two cable strings in the floor with the sensor near the floor surface The end of the tube should be sealed with tape When installing the sensor in a tube it can be changed later if

15. needed Make a drawing of the installation and or take a photograph for future reference before pouring the floor 4 Cable integrity check Measure insulation resistance and element resistance after the cable has been installed but before any concrete screed mortar is poured 5 Mixing and pouring of concrete screed mortar When embedding heating cables in concrete screed mortar it is important with a correct mix of sand and or water as prescribed by the vendor Mix the materi als well and pour shortly after mixing onto the subfloor and the cables MILLICABLE FLEX must be embedded with minimum 5 mm 0 2 inches concrete screed mortar above the heating cable when the top floor covering is tile slate stone or marble The minimum is 10 mm when the top floor covering is vinyl linoleum carpet engineered wood or other 6 Compacting when using concrete or similar To build a good and efficient heated floor the slab on the subfloor containing the heating cables must have good heat conductivity to create an even temperature throughout the slab securing efficient heat emission from the cable to the room If using concrete compact well to prevent air pockets and a porous slab The concrete screed mortar shall surround the cable completely to ensure good and necessary heat conductivity from the cable to its surroundings Good heat conductivity is important for the function of the floor but also to prevent excessive temperatures Some c

19. oncrete types can be mixed with small amounts of water as specified by the vendor In these cases pay special attention to the mixing and the compacting as these floors easily becomes porous and thereby thermally insulating It is recommended to use concrete screed mortar designed for heated floors Thermally insulating types cannot be used 7 Hardening drying time The heating cable is not to be used before the concrete screed mortar has naturally hardened and dried This can take up to 6 8 weeks Please consult the instructions guide provided by the vendor of the concrete screed mortar English 8 Connection and final checks A thermostat is recommended to regulate the heating cables Before this is connected measure the insulation resistance and the element resistance again to check cable integrity This will also reveal any damage done to the cable during installation The heating cable must be connected to electrical earth properly and always be protected by a ground fault circuit breaker This breaker shall have a maximum trip value of 30 mA If installing more than one heating cable in the same room connected to the same thermostat make sure cables are connected in parallel not series and that the total power output does not exceed the limit of the thermostat IMPORTANT Connection instructions The cold lead has an information text on it showing the cross section area of the copper conductors This will either be 1 0 mm or 0 5
