8. do A The connection assistant which displays in either CodeWarrior or P amp E s development software is a dialog which allows the user to connect to the DEMO9SO08QB8 User Manual RE 006620 www pemicro com DEMO9S08QB8 hardware If this dialog indicates that the DEMO9S08QB8 hardware is not connected to the PC the first step is to make sure that the DEMO9S08QB8 hardware is connected to the PC via a USB 2 0 high speed cable If it is connected unplug and then plug in the USB cable on the DEMO9S08QB8 board and click refresh in the connection assistant If the hardware still does not show up try the following remedies A Re Enable the USB driver If you connected the DEMO9S08QB8 interface prior to installing P amp E s Embedded Multilink drivers Windows will not have been able to find the appropriate driver and may have disabled the device The DEMO9S08QB8 board shows up Window s device manager as a P amp E Multilink since it contains P amp E s Embedded Multilink circuitry If you unplug and then plug in the device Windows will automatically disable it even if you have installed the drivers To force windows to try to load the driver again perform the following steps while the DEMO9S08QB8 interface is connected to the computer 1 Open the Control Panel Start Button Settings Control Panel 2 Double Click the System Icon 3 Select the Hardware tab 4 Click the Device Manager Button 5 The P amp E

16. a displayed on the bar graph component as follows A B C D 6 DEMONSTRATION MICROCONTROLLER APPLICATIONS The following microcontroller applications are designed to run on the QB8 processors 6 1 Quick Start Application The function of the Quick Start Application is to output two PWM signals at the QB8 s PTB5 pin and PTCO pin The PTB5 pin drives the sound of the Buzzer and outputs a PWM signal that is generated by the dedicated PWM module from the QB8 microcontroller The PTCO pin drives the illumination of the LED labeled PTCO The PTCO pin outputs a PWM signal that is emulated and synchronized with the PTB5 pin s PWM signal The LEDs that can be enabled by the LED ENABLE jumpers light up in different combinations each time the PTA2 button on the DEMO9S08QB8 board is pressed The potentiometer will control the intensity of the PTCO LED PWM signals on the DEMO9S08QB8 board when the PTA2 button is pressed three times after reset This application comes pre programmed into the memory of the QB8 processor so the user should be able to run this program the first time the DEMO9S080B8 User Manual 21 6 2 7 7 1 7 1 1 22 RE 006620 www pemicro com board is powered on without having to flash and program the device The source code for this Quick Start Application is also included on the DVD ROM The DEMOQE toolkit may also be found at http www pemicro com fixedlinks demoQEtoolkit html Serial Accelerome
