18. KL Switch detects that its free buffer queue space is low the Switch sends industry standard full duplex only PAUSE packets out to the devices sending it packets to cause flow control This tells the sending devices to temporarily stop sending traffic which allows the traffic to catch up without dropping packets Then normal packet buffering and processing resumes This flow control sequence occurs in a small fraction of a second and is transparent to an observer Another feature implemented in the Magnum 6KL Switches is a collision based flow control mechanism when operating at half duplex only When the Switch detects that its free buffer queue space is low the Switch prevents more frames from entering by forcing a collision signal on all receiving half duplex ports in order to stop incoming traffic 10 Magnum 6KL Managed Edge Switch Installation and User Guide 05 12 2 3 Managed Network Software for Magnum 6KL Magnum 6KL comes with licensed MNS 6K software or MNS 6K SECURE which allow the user to configure the Magnum 6KL as a Managed Switch and implements security features and other software enabled features NOTE Magnum 6KL managed switch will work with MNS 6K Rel v4 1 6 firmware or higher version only or MNS 6K SECURE v14 1 6 firmware or higher version only Using any earlier MNS 6K versions will not support the 6KL hardware For PoE PP6KL4 RJ45 supported software release visit Garrettcom s web site at http Aww
