5. copy of BioWin are shown below Different types of Hardlock keys from left to right Network version parallel port key standard parallel port key USB key and PCMCIA key The Hardlock USB is equipped with an LED which shows the status of the protection module If you are using the USB key and after you plug the Hardlock Aladdin key into the USB port the LED does not light up or if it flashes see the section Hardlock USB key status information in Appendix 1 4 Lease Activation Code When you first run BioWin after installing you will be prompted to enter a Lease Activation Code This is located on a sticker on the back of the CD case Type the code in and press the Apply Lease Code button note that the code is NOT case sensitive A common error is pressing the OK button instead of the Apply Lease Code button 5 Help F1 BioWin employs the latest in Help delivery technology HTML help This launches with a look and feel consistent with Microsoft Office products For tips on using this effectively look in the Help press the F1 button under the Getting Help in BioWin chapter 6 Manual BioWin does not ship with a printed manual However if you want to print the manual it has been shipped as an Adobe PDF This document can be found on your PC in the MISC subdirectory of your BioWin installation directory the typical path is C PROGRAM FILES ENVIROSIM BIOWIN 3 1 ML MISC but depends on where you installed 7
6. information General The Aladdin Hardlock End User s Manual is in the document hlendusersmanual_en pdf which is located in the MANUAL directory on the installation CD ROM The document contains detailed information about the Hardlock module installations procedures and troubleshooting information If you have purchased a server version of the software the document also describes the HL Server and utility software Hardlock USB key status information Hardlock USB is equipped with an LED display which shows the status of the protection module LED display Status o O The module is not recognized Possible reasons No driver no USB support module not functioning LED does not light LED flashes at approx 2 Hz The module is recognized but not initialized correctly Possible reasons Memory defective module not encoded as a Hardlock module module not functioning LED lights up The module is recognized and initialized correctly If your USB key LED is steadily lit then the hardware should be functioning correctly and it is likely that your problem is not related to the installation of your key BioWin Hardlock key messages BioWin error message Possible reasons Error Unable to find Key The key is not plugged in or could not be found OR The key driver software is not properly installed All network licenses in use If you have a server version of the software then either the Hardlock server cannot be found or a

17. the VSS TSS composition of the grit The two cyclone elements can be used to achieve the same results namely a flow of grit with a certain VSS TSS composition The ISS cyclone element is provided for users who wish to simulate cyclone operation without dewatering of the underflow Fast SBR Sequencing Batch Reactors SBRs enjoy a wide application in wastewater treatment and BioWin offers a quasi two dimensional approach that is able to simulate situations where quiescent settling is disrupted by flow conditions All this modeling strength comes at a cost more complex and time consuming simulations particularly since the dynamic nature of SBRs means that steady state solution techniques are not appropriate Modeling of the settling phase is particularly intensive because the concentrations of the many particulate components may change slightly as a result of reactions but the settling rate is a function of TSS concentration a composite of many particulates Version 3 1 introduces a fast approximate technique that can allow you to get reasonably close to the solution fast and then turn on the more rigorous modeling to refine your simulations or to ensure that the approximate method reasonable accurately represent the full model Many of the competitors only offer a 1 dimensional approximate technique In Version 3 1 the settling phase in an SBR can be modeled at three different levels of complexity 1 Reactive BioWin considers
