1. Windows 7 supports HID and SPP natively and will be used for the following instructions Windows XP and Windows Vista will be similar Consult the documentation that came with your computer for specific Bluetooth pairing instructions Bluetooth setup 1 Connect the LightSpeed to the PC using the USB cable and start the LightSpeed GUI See Section 2 for details In the LightSpeed GUI select on the Tool icon and then select Bluetooth Select either Bluetooth always allowed or Bluetooth only allowed when USB disconnected Figure 3 10 Select OK If Bluetooth always allowed is selected skip Step 4 If Bluetooth only allowed when USB disconnected is selected in Step b a Close GUI program program is not required for this function setting b Disconnect USB cable Hold down the LightSpeed s power button until the blue transmitting indicator light begins to flash figure 1 This indicates that the LightSpeed s Bluetooth is enabled and is in pairing mode Add a new Bluetooth device following the instructions for your version of Windows and Bluetooth software If you re using Windows 7 double select on the Bluetooth icon beside the clock then select Add Device figure 5 1 for Windows 7 26 Add a device N Add a printer Add s wireless or network device to this computer Double Click the Bluetooth Icon Gi the blue oval with the white B Then click on Add a device figur

6. 32 36 39 Vl Section 1 LightSpeed Introduction The LightSpeed is compatible with Microsoft Windows 8 7 XP and Vista Bluetooth Reset Power and Bluetooth Indicator SD Card Slot er Button USB Connection figure 1 1 Power Button The Power button is used to turn the LightSpeed on and off It is used to place the LightSpeed into Bluetooth Pairing Mode and to indicate the battery state of charge Power and Bluetooth Indicator The power and Bluetooth light will indicate power applied Bluetooth status and writing to SD card backup SD Card Slot The Secure Data card slot is used to house a 1GB max size SD card for backup of Smartwriter and RTF files 1 GB SD card included with LightSpeed Bluetooth Reset The Bluetooth Reset button is found on the bottom half of the LightSpeed It is a pinhole access to the Bluetooth reset on button USB Connection The USB is used to connect a 5 pin mini B connector The port is used for steno transmission and battery charging Battery Pack The LightSpeed comes equipped with a rechargeable battery pack See Section 8 for charging details Section 2 Initial Installation and Quick Start For initial LightSpeed installation the following steps must be performed sequentially 1 Insert Secure Data card into Secure Data card port 2 Connect LightSpeed to the PC USB port using the supplied USB cord 3 Press and hold the power button until the blue power indicator light il
