G Dynex Hobby rir a Ok e _ a oT ia oe e osf Step 5 Simple Circuit Test 4 Connect the Vortex to a 9 12VDC power supply Step 3 Soldering Refer to User Manual for connection polarity Next solder the components to the PCB 5 Connect the accelerometer sensor to port labeled A3 on the PCB 6 When power is connected the PC light should appear 7 Press the mode button 8 The PC light should disappear 9 Wiggle the accelerometer sensor for 5 seconds 10 After 10 seconds the Strobe light will start to strobe when the accelerometer sensor moves from side to side 11 Ifthe proceeding events occur then the device is operating normally Step 4 Calibrate sensor circuit 1 Connect the center pin and upper pin from the port For a full functional test follow the balancing procedures in the labeled C on the PCB to a multimeter User s Manual 2 Connect the accelerometer sensor to port labeled A3 on the PCB Ensure the accelerometer is sitting Step 6 Finalize assembly still on a flat surface 1 Insert the completed PCB assembly into the Vortex 3 Using a small screw driver turn the potentiometer case labeled R3 until the multimeter reads 2 Insert the 4 screws on both ends Insert the dials approximately OmV onto the 9mm pots 3 Ensure there is adequate clearance with connectors and casing endplates 1 Page Copyright Dynex Hobby 2013 ELECTR

7. nt the loss of life and property resulting from electrical fires EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR ASSEMBLY Assembling of the Vortex System is straight forward and requires minimal tools The assembly instructions assume that the builder has a basic knowledge of circuit assembly procedures If you do not feel comfortable with assembling the Vortex seek help from an experienced person The following tools are required for assembly ASE Soldering Iron Side Solder Cutters Multimeter PLEASE CHECK THAT ALL PARTS ARE SUPPLIED ACCORDING TO THE PARTS LIST BEFORE PROCEEDING Vortex Assembly VORTEX SYSTEM ASSEMBLY Introduction Vortex is a combined dynamic balancer and vibration analyzer for hobbyist It is capable of balancing rotors and shaft assemblies to reduce wear and improve performance The vortex system can operate as a stand alone device or it can be connected to a PC for advanced analysis This manual outlines the Vortex system construction Step 1 Identify parts Locate all parts before assembling Vortex Items should include PCB potentiometers switches and sockets as illustrated below Step 2 Insert parts Insert all components into the printed circuit board You may need to bend the protruding wires of the components to hold them in place prior to soldering Ensure that potentiometers R2 R3 and R5 are positioned correctly e G Dynex Hobby H T f F f si if qo Ert 34 gt 25 oS YE 5 af z

9. se thoroughly check your work Today s semiconductors and passive components have reached incredibly high reliability levels and it s sad to say that our human construction skills have not However on rare occasions components which are defective may be shipped and included in your kit All of our kit parts carry the DynexHobby Warranty that they are free from defects for a full ninety 30 days from the date purchase with the exception of power semiconductors Defective parts will be replaced promptly at our expense If you suspect a component to be defective please mail it to us for testing and replacement Please send only the defective component s not the entire kit The component s MUST be returned to us in suitable condition for testing Please be aware that testing can usually determine if the part was truly defective or damaged by assembly and or usage If you did damage or blow up a component through testing don t be afraid to tell us We re all human and in most cases replacement parts are very reasonably priced Missing Parts Before assuming that a component value is incorrect or missing check the parts listing carefully to see if it is a critical value such as a specific semiconductor or IC or whether a RANGE of values is suitable such as 10uF to 47uF Sometimes a different value component may be substituted in a non critical application If you believe we packed an incorrect part or omitted a component clearly in
