Volatizer VM3 User s Manual CHIRO TEC INC 612 Calle Plano Camarillo CA 93012 U S A 1 800 485 7305 www volatizer com www vm3revolution com copyright 2006 ADS INC VOLATIZER VM3 USER S MANUAL Welcome to the VM3 Revolution and congratulations You have just purchased the most compact and efficient vaporization device available The Volatizer VM3 is different than anything you ve used before Its patented rapid onset and smokeless nature and its easy to use design is revolutionizing the vaporization industry Protected by U S and foreign patents with additional patents pending the Volatizer VM3 represents the cutting edge of vaporization Developed after years of research with its concealable mouthpiece state of the art Lithium lon Polymer LIPB battery temperature control unit CPU built in safety features and ergonomic design the VM3 is the only pocket size battery operated rechargeable vaporizer on the market No more burning No more water filled containers No more balloons No more hoses No more attached power cords Whether your interest is in aromatherapy medicinal herbs essential oils or tobacco frequently referred to here as constituents the VM3 represents phyto inhalation at its best IDENTIFICATION OF FEATURES Before using the VM3 please familiarize yourself with its various controls and components See Figures 1 amp 2 as well as the accessories that ca2. dozens if not hundreds of different compounds each of which may vaporize at a different temperature Therefore only through practice and experimentation will you be able to determine just what you are looking for in using the constituent in question As to the temperature in the heating chamber there are sensors within the device that ensure that the desired temperature will be reached as well as not exceeded For example even though you are depressing the HEAT 12 button if the temperature in the heating chamber is higher than the setting temperature the heating element will automatically shut down Likewise as soon as the heating chamber temperature falls below the preset temperature the heating element will switch back on as long as you are still depressing the HEAT button When the heating element is off and not being energized the right red indicator light under the display screen will be off When the heating element is energized or on the light will be on The number of inhalations per single dose of tobacco herb or essential oil depends upon the amount you use the temperature setting and the user s lung capacity For some constituents one or two inhalations may be all that is necessary to extract all of the essential ingredients Other constituents may require multiple inhalations As you become more familiar with the device and the constituent you are using in it you will be in a better position to anticipate the bes
3. vaporizes at about 200 225 C Likewise the most common medicinal herbs vaporize at 180 210 C However as noted above a lot depends upon the moisture content of the constituent the type or blend of essential oil or botanical and the personal preferences of the user Only through experimentation can the user determine what temperature is best for a particular constituent For some herbs and botanicals one inhalation will exhaust the essential ingredients while others will require more You may be able to push the vaporization process further and achieve a second or third inhalation by increasing the 14 temperature However pushing the process often results a slightly different by product and a different taste since different compounds vaporize at different temperatures Experimentation and personal preference will determine what is best for each user CHARGING AND RECHARGING THE UNIT Before using the VM3 on battery you will need to charge the unit To do so plug the charger into a standard 120 AC outlet and insert the plug from the adaptor into the charger receptacle or socket at the bottom of the VM3 When the unit is being charged a red indicator light on the display screen and the left red light under the display screen will be lit to indicate that the charger is connected and charging is in progress In addition the charger will display a green light to indicate that it is operating When

Using too much herb or tobacco Less is better Packing the ceramic chamber defeats the vaporization process and wastes product Neglecting to finely grind the herb or tobacco The more finely ground the constituent the easier it is for the essential ingredients to be vaporized Inhaling too quickly Inhale slowly and deeply for 20 30 seconds then hold breath for 10 seconds before exhaling Forgetting to hold the heat button down as you inhale Holding the heat button maintains the proper temperature during the inhalation process Covering the air intake slots with your thumb As you inhale you are drawing outside air through the air intake slots in the vaporization chamber cover Covering the slots with your thumb prevents proper air flow Failing to keep the internal screens clean In order to maintain proper air flow you must make sure there is no debris or residue blocking the internal screens A clogged screen prevents the proper flow of vapor GENERAL USE AND OPERATION OF THE VM3 To use slide the mouthpiece cover into the open position Extend the mouthpiece by pressing up on the mouthpiece Slide PLEASE NOTE AS A SAFETY FEATURE THE VM3 CANNOT BE TURNED ON UNLESS THE MOUTHPIECE IS EXTENDED AND THE VAPORIZATION CHAMBER COVER COMPLETELY CLOSED To load the VM3 slide the vaporization compartment cover up See Fig 1 The ceramic vaporization chamber can then be inserted into the unit or if there is already a vaporizati
5. described above and press the OFF ON button As soon as you turn on the unit the word NOM and numbers will be displayed on the screen The first number you see will be the nominal or actual temperature in degrees Celsius in the vaporization chamber You can then set the temperature you want to reach by pressing the temperature increase left or decrease right buttons located immediately below the display screen Press once to go up or down one degree or hold down for faster adjustment of the temperature setting When setting the temperature the screen will display the word set at the top and a blue backlight The last temperature displayed after releasing the temperature increase or decrease button will automatically be the preset temperature of the unit until adjusted again After about 10 seconds the display will show the real time or actual temperature again however the CPU s memory will retain the preset temperature To begin the vaporization process depress and hold the HEAT activation button When the HEAT button is depressed the right red indicator light under the display screen will go on to indicate that the heating element is on You can follow the temperature increase in the display screen As soon as the vaporization chamber reaches the preset temperature the heating element automatically shuts off and the red indicator light turns off Now just as you would if you were smoking a pipe or using a cigaret
6. first time you use the VM3 you may think that it is not working It is It s just subtle and very efficient Therefore give it some time and do not simply repeat the loading and inhalation cycle which could result in an 10 11 12 13 14 overdose of constituent This is particularly true using tobacco Clean the mouthpiece with an alcohol wipe between use Clean the ceramic vaporization chamber the vaporization chamber compartment and the internal screens after use Retract mouthpiece and close mouthpiece cover after use to turn off unit and conserve the battery Only use constituents that you are familiar with and that are free from additives contamination or pesticides Be extremely cautious vaporizing tobacco Nicotine is a poison A nicotine overdose can be fatal Do not use more than one ceramic vaporization chamber of tobacco every 4 hours until you have greater experience with the VM3 Never under any circumstances should more than one ceramic vaporization chamber of tobacco be used in a 30 minute period Do not use the VM3 or any other vaporizer if you are pregnant ill or under a doctor s care Do not allow children or minors to use or handle the VM3 Please review our websites at www volatizer com and www vm3revolution com to completely familiarize yourself with all Volatizer products educational materials and scientific references MOST COMMON MISTAKES IN USING THE VM3 1
7. the battery is fully charged a green light on the display screen will be illuminated When the charger is removed the red indicator lights will go off To ensure that the unit is fully charged before its initial use keep the charger plugged in overnight How long the charge will last depends upon temperature settings and use The higher the temperature and the greater or more frequent the use the shorter the period of time before the unit needs to be recharged When one of the red indicator lights under the display begins to wink or the unit makes a beeping sound it indicates the battery is low and needs to be recharged The battery can be recharged 15 a minimum of 300 times Since the VM3 is designed for personal individual use one charge will usually last several days Therefore the battery should last over a year before it has to be replaced Please note like many modern battery powered devices the VM3 is never completely off It is always in a sleep mode so as to maintain the last temperature setting Therefore if not used regularly the battery will eventually discharge and require recharging To ensure a longer battery life be sure and turn the unit off after you use it The charger can also be used to supply the power directly just as you might use a power supply directly to a cell phone or digital camera while it is charging If you use the power supply in this manner the left red indicator light and the red light in

11. me with the unit Each VM3 comes with a custom lockable case a charger extra ceramic vaporization chambers and a cleaning kit ECH ou Button Sa FIG 2 FIG 1 QUICK START TIPS AND REMINDERS 1 Safety Feature The VM3 cannot be turned on unless the mouthpiece is fully extended Retracting the mouthpiece and closing the mouthpiece cover automatically turns off the unit Safety Feature The heating element cannot be energized and will not function if the cover of the vaporization chamber compartment is open or not completely closed Charge the VM3 before using See Charging and Recharging the Unit on page 15 for more instructions The VM3 may be used while the charger is plugged in as well Do not drop disassemble misuse the VM3 or expose to extreme heat cold liquids or moisture Most herbs and tobaccos vaporize a 190 250 C Celsius Centigrade However moisture content potency and the essential ingredients of botanical constituents vary No two constituents are the same Therefore you must experiment with different amounts and temperature settings to optimize yield Always begin with a small amount and a lower temperature setting and work your way up Do not exceed a temperature of 250 C Inhale slowly and deeply Keep the heat button depressed as you inhale If the outside or ambient air is colder than normal set the temperature 10 20 higher to compensate Note The
12. nts are the same Therefore you must experiment with different amounts and temperature settings to optimize yield and achieve peak performance from your VM3 When it comes to vaporization less is better Do not exceed 250 C since tobacco and most herbs will incinerate or burn at 255 which of course defeats the whole purpose of vaporization If using an essential oil place no more than one drop of the oil on the cotton insert in one of the vaporization chambers Most essential oils are very strong therefore usually only a much smaller micro drop is needed The VM3 comes with some sample cotton inserts Any common drugstore sterile surgical cotton will do Simply tear off a small amount roll it into a ball and insert it into one of the vaporization chambers Replace cotton after use After loading the constituent into the ceramic vaporization chamber insert the vaporization chamber into the VM3 with your thumb while sliding the vaporization compartment cover down See Fig 3 You can remove your thumb as the lower edge of the vaporization compartment cover passes the upper edge of the ceramic vaporization chamber Continue sliding the cover down until it completely closes The resistance you feel in sliding the vaporization compartment cover into the closed position is normal since in doing so an internal mechanism seats and seals the various vaporization chamber components To turn on the unit extend the mouthpiece as
13. on chamber in the unit it will then be partially ejected so it can be removed and reloaded See Fig 3 FIG 3 The VM3 comes with ten ceramic vaporization chambers All ten have a mesh screen at the bottom Five also have mesh lids The mesh screens help ensure that loose tobacco or herbs do not touch the heating element or interfere with the various vaporization chamber components The mesh lids are included for those who prefer to preload their tobacco or herb ahead of time and carry the unit and the extra vaporization chambers in the soft carrying case which is included with each unit For convenience many users do not use the mesh lids If you prefer to not use the mesh lids do not shake the unit once it s loaded or turn it upside down This will help keep any debris off of the upper screen To load the VM3 place a very small amount of tobacco or herb in the ceramic vaporization chamber Unlike smoking where 80 90 of the essential ingredients are burned off and never absorbed by the lungs vaporization is very efficient Therefore begin with a small amount of constituent and work your way up to that amount which satisfies your personal needs For most finely ground herbs begin with an amount equivalent to the size of an aspirin tablet As indicated earlier most herbs and tobacco vaporize at 190 250 C However the moisture content potency and essential ingredients of botanical constituents vary No two constitue
