12. 15 of 54 MICROS e7 Version 2 6 What s New With the introduction of the CaPMS driver the user can centralize credit card processing for the PMS and MICROS e7 systems thereby making the credit card authorization and settlement process simpler and more efficient The CaPMS driver is included in the MICROS e7 installation and can be added as a new credit card driver Additional configuration is required to implement this feature For more information see the Enabling CaPMS section beginning on page 25 How it Works Currently the MICROS e7 application uses the PMS Interface to transmit data to the PMS In the past communication was limited to inquiries regarding customer accounts and room charge posting information The CaPMS driver utilizes this existing infrastructure to relay credit card transaction information to the PMS The PMS interface requires that prior to installation the user identifies a host node to transmit information between the MICROS e7 POS and the PMS CaPMS can only be installed on a single PC or workstation in the network and does not support the use of a backup mode MD0007 020 June 14 2007 Page 16 of 54 Version 2 6 MICROS e7 Version 2 6 What s New Once the host node is established the other MICROS e7 nodes will route credit authorizations to the MICROS e7 host node The node can be a workstation or a PC In turn the MICROS e7 host node will route all data to the host PMS node PMS Side
