User s Guide EXTECH INSTRUMENTS Gas Leak Detector Model C052 Introduction Congratulations on your purchase of the Extech C052 Gas Leak Detector The CO52 detects the presence of gas and displays concentrations between 0 and 10000 parts per million ppm Careful use of this meter will provide years of reliable service Description Sensor Light Sensor Specifications Measurement range Response Time Power supply Battery life Operating Temperature Storage Temperature Operating Humidity Dimensions Weight LCD On Off Button Battery Compartment Rear 0 10000 ppm Less than 5 seconds 2 x AA 1 5V Approx 50 hours with alkaline battery with no backlight Approx 30 hours with backlight operation 32 to 122 F 0 to 50 C 22 to 140 F 30 to 60 C 5 to 95 RH non condensing 1 5 x 10 x 1 1 38 x 254 x 28mm 3 50Z 100g Operation Leak Detection 1 Press the ON key to power the detector 2 Hold the CO52 steady in clean ambient air during its 30 second warm up which is indicated by the flashing PPM symbol When completed the PPM symbol will stop flashing and a steady ticking noise will indicate that the CO52 is ready for use 3 Trace the CO52 around the source of the suspected leak When leaking gas is detected the tone will increase in pitch with increasing gas concentration Digital display The digital display indicates increasing gas concentration by a three range display 10 000 Gre2. ater than 10000 ppm WMC Greater than 1000 ppm but less than 10000 ppm WOOD Greater than 100 ppm but less than 1000 ppm Less than 100 ppm Automatic Back Light The CQ52 will automatically reset itself to zero on activation If necessary the CO52 will enter into an automatic cycle to reset its zero In this instance the unit will alarm at peak level and decrease to zero This process takes about 20 seconds Automatic Back Light The CQ52 has an automatic back light for the display which switches on automatically in low light conditions Batteries 2 AA size batteries are used The battery compartment is located at the rear of the CO52 Fit the batteries in accordance with the diagram found within the molding Remaining battery life is indicated by the symbol in the digital display If the batteries are fresh 5 segments will be displayed Switch Off Switch the CO52 off by pressing the single on off key Store the CO52 in a warm dry place Warning Storing in a damp environment will damage the sensor Warranty EXTECH INSTRUMENTS CORPORATION warrants this instrument to be free of defects in parts and workmanship for one year from date of shipment a six month limited warranty applies on sensors and cables If it should become necessary to return the instrument for service during or beyond the warranty period contact the Customer Service Department at 781 890 7440 ext 210 for authorization or visit our website at www extech com cl
