Keep the air openings free of lint hair and the like e Never drop or insert any object into any opening or hose e Do not use outdoors or operate where aerosol spray products are being used e Connect this product to a properly grounded outlet only See Grounding Instructions GROUNDING Before any connection is made make certain that this product is connected to a protective earth conductor via the three wire power cord the three blade plug should be inserted only into a socket outlet that provides a protective earth contact Please refer to page 8 for more information SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS PRODUCT FUNCTIONS This manual should be used for the initial set up of the system and for reference purposes INTENDED USE The Med Aire Essential 14508 pump and mattress are intended to help reduce the incidence of pressure ulcers while optimizing patient comfort PUMP The functions of the Med Aire Essential 14508 pump are described below Please refer to the figures of the 14508 pump Power Switch 1 e The switch is at the right side of the pump e Turn ON OFF the power the pump will start stop operation Pressure Adjust Knob adjustable by patient s weight 2 e Turn the Pressure Adjust Knob to set a comfortable pressure level by using the weight scale as a guide Normal Pressure Indicator 3 e A visible indicator green tells the pressure has reached a preset or user defined level Low Pressure Indicator 4 e A visible ind

5. icator yellow or red warns the pressure is below a preset or user defined level Alarm Reset 5 e The audible visible alarm turns on when the pressure is low e To mute the audible alarm press the reset button The visible alarm indicator will flash e Re press the reset button to reactivate the alarm Static Control 6 Press to set the air mattress in static mode Weight of Patient Power Switch Pressure Adjust Knob Normal Pressure Indicator Low Pressure Indicator Alarm Reset Static Control OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1 Place pump on horizontal surface or hang it by means of the hook 2 Open mattress on the bed Secure it with end flaps or straps Air tubes must be at foot end of bed 3 Connect air feed tubes to air outlet on the mattress and pump ensuring that the tubes are not kinked or twisted Allow space for bed rails to drop freely 4 Turn on the pump power The indicator of the power switch will come on The pump starts to pump air into the mattress 5 The Low Pressure indicator yellow or red will come on as inflation begins 6 The audible alarm won t alarm within 40 minutes and will be activated if the pressure is still low inside the mattress In case of low pressure press the Alarm Reset button to mute the audible alarm and its indicator will flash 7 For first inflation we recommend that you press Static button to quickly inflate 8 When the pressure reaches the preset level wit
