Supplement for DTR Dialing AGM Electronics Inc Dial Up Leased Line Modem Series 5019 1 Supplement Rev NC User Manual Supplement for DTR Dialing Supplement for DTR Dialing Introduction This supplement contains instructions on setting up the DLM to dial a single phone number on a DTR line transition These instructions are a workaround to a condition observed when using Data Handlers and with a DLM where the DLM fails to dial out on commands from the Data Handler These instructions may also be used in other situations where dialing from a transition in the DTR line is required See the DLM User Manual for complete instructions on using the DLM Instructions Setting DLM for DTR Dial Up Operation The following instructions must be done to the DLM modem that will be dialing out only For the answering modem set up as described in the Getting Started section of the DLM User Manual Each of the following commands will be entered then followed with a carriage return Enter Key After entering each command wait for the OK response 1 Turn onthe DLM and as soon as the DSR and CTS lights turn on enter AT DCO NOTE 1 You may not get a response from this command Some configurations disable the response to commands as well as the echoing of characters NOTE 2 Itis possible to set up the DLM to ignore any commands To break out of this mode the DC0 command must be sent within the first 10 s2. econds after power up 2 Reset the DLM to its factory defaults by entering AT amp FO NOTE 1 You will get an OK response from this command NOTE 2 We recommend always restoring the DLM to factory defaults and reentering all settings in this procedure This guarantees the DLM is in a known condition 3 The default baud rate for Data Handlers is 1200 baud Enter the following command below to fix the DLM baud rate to 1200 See the DLM User Manual for other baud rates AT SB1200 Supplement for DTR Dialing 4 Data Handlers uses 8 data bits no parity 1 stop bit Enter the following command to fix the data format AT EBO Data Handlers do not use handshaking Enter the following command AT amp KO DTR control must be enabled Enter the following command AT amp D2 Enter the following command to set the phone number to dial AT amp Z0 lt phone number gt Replace lt phone number gt with the phone number to be dialed E G AT amp Z0 7221 006 Enter the following command to enable DTR dialing AT D1 Enter the following command to disable AT commands and to save the settings AT DC1 amp W0 You are done configuring your DLM With this configuration the DLM will attempt to dial out on anytime DTR becomes active Dial outs will occur 1 When the Data Handler toggles the DTR line 2 The Data Handler is powered up 3 The RS232 cable is connected when the DLM is powered up
