2. 1 Hold the metal frame firmly in the location shown by the arrow at the right CAUTION To decrease the pos sibility of injury do not lift the frame by the plastic foot rails Make sure to bend your legs and keep your back straight as you raise the frame Raise the frame about halfway to the vertical position 2 Raise the frame until the latch knob locks into the storage position Make sure that the latch knob is locked in the storage position To protect the floor or carpet from damage place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill out of di rect sunlight Do not leave the treadmill in the stor age position in temperatures above 85 F 30 C HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL Before moving the treadmill convert the treadmill to the stor age position as described above Make sure that the latch knob is locked in the storage position 1 Hold a handrail and the frame and place one foot against one of the wheels 2 Tilt the treadmill back until it rolls freely on the wheels Carefully move the treadmill to the desired location Never move the treadmill without tipping it back To reduce the risk of injury use extreme caution while moving the treadmill Do not attempt to move the treadmill over an uneven surface 3 Place one foot against a wheel and carefully lower the treadmill until it is resting in the storage position HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1 Hold the upper end of the treadmi
3. 91 Hold the receiver so the small cylinder is oriented as shown and is facing the Console Base Attach the receiver to the plastic posts on the Access Door 87 with the two in cluded small screws 3 Make sure that no wires are pinched Reattach the Access Door 87 with the 8 x 3 4 Screws 1 Discard the other wires in cluded with the receiver Cylinder 11 OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PRE LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high performance lubricant IMPORTANT Never apply sil icone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD A DANGER Improper connection of the equipment grounding conductor can result in an increased risk of electric shock Check with a qualified electrician or service man if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly grounded Do not modify the plug provided with the product f it will not fit the outlet have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician Your treadmill like any other type of sophisticated electronic equipment can be seriously damaged by sudden voltage changes in your home s power Voltage surges spikes and noise interference can result from weather conditions or from other appliances being turned on or off To decrease the possibility of your tr
4. 14 Personalize console settings if desired See HOW TO PERSONALIZE CONSOLE SET TINGS on page 14 Select one of the four custom workouts To select a custom workout press the Custom Workouts button Then press the left right up and down Navigation buttons until the name of the desired workout CUSTOM WORKOUT 1 CUS TOM WORKOUT 2 CUSTOM WORKOUT 3 or CUSTOM WORKOUT 4 appears in the display In addition the maximum speed and incline set tings of the workout the workout time and a profile of the speed settings of the workout will appear Note If the workout time is only three minutes see HOW TO CREATE A CUSTOM WORKOUT on page 20 Press the Start button to start the workout A moment after you press the Start button the treadmill will automatically adjust to the first speed and incline settings that you programmed previ ously Hold the handrails and begin walking 21 6 The custom workout will function in the same way as a classic workout see step 4 on page 18 If desired you can redesign the workout while using it To change the speed setting or the in cline setting for the current segment simply press the Speed or Incline buttons When the current segment ends the new setting will be saved in mem ory To increase the length of the workout first wait until the workout is completed Then press the Start button and program speed and incline settings for as many additional segments as desir

Locate the Reed Switch 71 and the Magnet 50 on the left side of the Pulley 51 Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1 8 in 3 mm If nec essary loosen the 3 4 Reed Switch Screw 15 move the Reed Switch slightly and then retighten the Screw Reattach the Hood not shown If nec essary tip down the Uprights not shown reattach the Hood Screws not shown and raise the Uprights Run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a correct speed reading PROBLEM The incline of the treadmill does not change correctly SOLUTION a With the key in the console press one of the Incline buttons While the incline is changing re move the key After a few seconds re insert the key The treadmill will automatically rise to the maximum incline level and then return to the minimum level This will recalibrate the incline system PROBLEM The walking belt slows when walked on SOLUTION a Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 12 b If the walking belt is overtightened treadmill perfor mance may decrease and the walking belt may be come damaged Remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both rear roller bolts counterclockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is properly tightened you should be able
6. 11 12 PRECISION QUICK SPEED j MW INCLINE AA so FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE This revolutionary treadmill console offers a selection of features designed to make your workouts more ef fective and enjoyable When you use the manual mode of the console you can change the speed and incline of the treadmill with the touch of a button As you exer cise the console will display continuous exercise feed back You can even measure your heart rate using the handgrip pulse sensor or the optional chest pulse sen sor see page 24 for more information on the optional chest pulse sensor In addition the console features twenty customizable classic workouts and four event training workouts Each workout automatically controls the speed and incline of the treadmill as it guides you through an effective work out You can even create your own custom workouts and save them for future use The console also features a fitness journal which auto matically records and stores your exercise information so that you can view your workout history and track your progress You can even listen to your favorite workout music or audio books with the console s premium stereo sound system while you get in shape This product has been designed specifically to work with iPod and has been certified by the developer to meet Apple performance standards To turn on the power follow the steps on page 14
7. 53 so that the large barrel and the Latch Knob 54 are in the posi tions shown Attach the Latch Bracket 14 and Storage Latch 53 to the Base 83 with two 3 8 x 2 Bolts 4 and two 3 8 Nuts 8 Attach the upper end of the Storage Latch 53 to the bracket on the Frame 56 with a 3 8 x 2 Bolt 4 and a 3 8 Nut 8 Note It may be nec essary to move the Frame back and forth to align the Storage Latch with the bracket Lower the Frame 56 see HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE on page 25 10 13 Press the Left Accessory Tray 99 and the Right Accessory Tray 106 into the Console Base 91 14 Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill If there are sheets of clear plastic on the treadmill decals remove the plastic To protect the floor or carpet place a mat under the tread mill Note Extra hardware may be included Keep the included hex keys in a secure place the large hex key is used to adjust the walking belt see pages 27 and 28 If you purchase the optional chest pulse sensor see page 24 follow the steps below to install the re ceiver included with the chest pulse sensor 1 Make sure that the power cord is unplugged Remove the indicated 8 x 3 4 Screw 1 and the Access Door 87 from the Console Base 91 2 Connect the wire on the receiver A to the indi cated wire extending from the Console Base
8. key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER to the left Select the user mode To select the user mode press the Enter button The console can store information and keep track of workout history for two different users When you select the user mode the word LOGIN will appear in the display for a few seconds and then the login menu will appear Important To highlight options within a menu press the up down left or right Navigation buttons To select options within a menu press the Enter button Note To exit the user mode at any time press the Back button repeatedly until the manual mode is se lected see page 16 To re enter the user mode from the manual mode press the Enter button Enter user information To enter your user information first highlight the SETUP option and press the Enter button The setup menu will then appear in the display Next highlight the SETUP USER 1 or SETUP USER 2 option and press the Enter button The user infor mation menu will then appear in the display 14 You can now enter your name and your weight Highlight the desired option in the menu and press the Enter button A cursor will appear in a field in the display To enter a number or letter above the cursor press the up and down Navigation buttons To move the cursor press the left and right Navigation buttons When you have finished enter ing the desired numbers or letters in the field pr
9. to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in 5 to 7 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the Rear Roller Bolts treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened c If the walking belt still slows when walked on see the front cover of this manual 27 PROBLEM The walking belt is off center or slips when walked on SOLUTION a If the walking belt is off center first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the walking belt has shifted to the left use the hex key to turn the left rear roller bolt clockwise 1 2 of a turn if the walking belt has shifted to the right turn the bolt counterclockwise 1 2 of a turn Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walk ing belt is centered b If the walking belt slips when walked on first re move the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both rear roller bolts clock wise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is cor rectly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in 5 to 7 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walk ing belt centered Then plug in the power cord in sert the key and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tigh
10. to the speed and incline settings for the next segment Select a display mode and follow your progress with the display When you select a classic workout the display will show the time remaining in the workout the dis tance you have walked or run the approximate number of calories you have burned the incline of the treadmill and the speed of the walking belt In addition a profile of the speed settings of the workout will appear in the display A small arrow below the profile will indicate your progress The dis play can also show the date and an animation of a runner Press the Display button repeatedly to select the desired display option Measure your heart rate if desired See step 7 on page 17 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console See step 8 on page 17 HOW TO USE AN EVENT TRAINING WORKOUT 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 14 Personalize console settings if desired See HOW TO PERSONALIZE CONSOLE SET TINGS on page 14 Select an event training workout Press the Event Training Workouts button Then press the left right up and down Navigation but tons until the name of the desired workout 5K Run 10K Run Half Marathon or Boston Marathon and a track appear in the display Note To return to a previous display press the Back but ton To return to the manual mode press the Event Training Workouts button Press the Star
11. use a Cc d Check the reset off circuit breaker see the drawing above If the circuit breaker has tripped wait for five minutes and then press the switch back in Make sure that the power cord is plugged in If the power cord is plugged in unplug it wait for five minutes and then plug it back in Remove the key from the console Reinsert the key into the console If the treadmill still will not run please see the front cover of this manual The console displays remain lit when you remove the key from the console a The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is displayed in a store If the displays remain lit wnen you remove the key the demo mode is turned on To turn off the demo mode hold down the Stop button for a few seconds If the displays are still lit see THE INFORMATION MODE on page 23 to turn off the demo mode The displays of the console do not function properly a Remove the key from the console and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD With the help of a second person carefully tip the Uprights 74 78 down There may be two Hood Screws 107 in the bottom of the Belly Pan 73 If there are remove them Note A Phillips screwdriver with a shaft at least 5 13 cm long is required Then raise the Uprights 26 Remove the key from the console and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Remove the three 8 x 3 4 Screws 1 and carefully pivot the Hood 61 off
12. with the Bolt and the Nut that you just removed Do not overtighten the Nut the Wheel must turn freely UMMM LLL 6 Set the Left Upright Spacer 76 on the Base 83 With the help of a second person hold a Bolt Spacer 88 inside the lower end of the Left Upright 74 Insert a 3 8 x 4 1 2 Bolt 6 with a 3 8 Star Washer 9 into the Left Upright and the Bolt Spacer Repeat this step with a sec ond Bolt Spacer 88 3 8 x 4 1 2 Bolt 6 and 3 8 Star Washer 9 Then set the Left Upright in the Left Upright Spacer Tighten the 3 8 x 4 1 2 Bolts 6 with your fin gers do not fully tighten the Bolts yet With the help of a second person tip the tread mill so that the Base 83 is flat on the floor 7 Set the console assembly face down on a soft surface to avoid scratching the console assem bly Hold the Right Handrail 95 near the con sole assembly Next insert the console wire into the large hole in the bottom of the Right Handrail and out of the top as shown If neces sary use needlenose pliers to help pull the con sole wire out Console Attach the Right Handrail 95 and the Left Handrail not shown with four 8 x 3 4 Screws 1 only one side is shown Make sure that no wires are pinched Start all four Screws be fore tightening any of them do not over Console tighten the Screws 8 Tighten a 1 4 x 1 1 4 Bolt 5 with a 1 4 Star Washer 33 into the br

WORKOUT on page 21 20 Press the Start button and program the desired speed and incline settings A moment after you press the Start button the walking belt will begin to move Hold the handrails and begin walking Each custom workout is divided into one minute segments One speed setting and one incline set ting can be programmed for each segment To pro gram a speed setting and an incline setting for the first segment simply adjust the speed and incline of the treadmill as desired by pressing the Speed and Incline buttons When the first segment of the workout ends a se ries of tones will sound and the current speed set ting and the current incline setting will be saved in memory Program a speed setting and an incline setting for the second segment as described above Continue programming speed and incline settings for as many segments as desired custom work outs can have up to forty segments When you are finished with your workout press the Stop button twice The speed and incline settings that you have programmed and the program time will then be saved in memory Select a display mode and follow your progress with the display See step 5 on page 18 Measure your heart rate if desired See step 7 on page 17 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console See step 8 on page 17 HOW TO USE A CUSTOM WORKOUT 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page

30. ge 13 and slide the clip onto the waistband of your clothes Then insert the key into the console After a moment the displays will light IMPORTANT In an emergency situation the key can be pulled from the console causing the walking belt to slow to a stop Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward if the key is not pulled from the console adjust the posi tion of the clip Note If there is a sheet of clear plastic on the face of the console remove the plastic To prevent dam age to the walking platform wear clean athletic shoes while using the treadmill The first time you use the treadmill observe the alignment of the walking belt and center the walking belt if neces sary see page 28 Note The console can display speed and distance in either miles or kilometers To find out which unit of measurement is selected or to change the unit of mea surement see THE INFORMATION MODE on page 23 For simplicity all instructions in this section refer to miles HOW TO PERSONALIZE CONSOLE SETTINGS The console has a user mode that allows you to desig nate yourself as User 1 or User 2 enter user informa tion before you begin exercising and select console settings The user information you enter will also be recorded and stored in the fitness journal which allows you to view your workout history see HOW TO VIEW THE FITNESS JOURNAL on page 22 Follow the steps below to personalize console settings 1 Insert the
31. gments Press the Start button to start the workout A moment after you press the Start button the treadmill will automatically adjust to the first speed and incline settings of the workout Hold the handrails and begin walking A profile of the speed settings of the workout will ap pear in the display A small arrow below the profile will indicate your progress 18 At the end of the first one minute segment of the workout a series of tones will sound If a different speed and or incline setting is programmed for the second segment the speed and or incline setting will flash in the display for a moment to alert you The treadmill will then automatically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the second segment and the small arrow will move one position to the right The workout will continue in this way until the small arrow reaches the right end of the profile The walking belt will then slow to a stop If the speed or incline setting for the current seg ment is too high or too low you can override the setting by pressing the Speed or Incline buttons however when the next segment begins the treadmill will automatically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment To stop the workout at any time press the Stop button To restart the workout press the Start but ton The walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph When the next segment of the workout begins the treadmill will automatically adjust

45. rther please review the drawing below and familiarize yourself with the labeled parts Console Tray Console Handrail Upright Walking Belt Foot Rail Rear Roller Adjustment Bolts Pulse Sensor Key Clip Reset Off Circuit Breaker Power Cord Platform Cushion ASSEMBLY To hire an authorized service technician to assemble the treadmill call 1 800 445 2480 Assembly requires two persons Set the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed Note The underside of the treadmill walking belt is coated with high performance lubricant During shipping a small amount of lubricant may be transferred to the top of the walking belt or the shipping carton This is a normal condition and does not affect treadmill perfor mance lf there is lubricant on top of the walking belt simply wipe off the lubricant with a soft cloth and a mild non abrasive cleaner Assembly requires the included hex keys and your own Phillips screwdriver adjustable wrench gt and needlenose pliers gt Use the drawings below to identify the assembly hardware The number in parentheses below each drawing is the key number of the part from the PART LIST near the end of this manual The number after the parentheses is the quantity needed for assembly Note If a part is not i

48. th stickers Insert the Upright Wire 38 through the Right Upright Spacer as shown See the inset drawing Tie the long tie in the Right Upright 78 securely around the end of the Upright Wire 38 With the help of a second person hold the Right Upright near the Base 83 Then pull the other end of the long tie until the Upright Wire is routed completely through the Right Upright 4 Set the Right Upright Spacer 79 on the Base 83 Be careful not to pinch the Upright Wire 38 With the help of a second person hold a Bolt Spacer 88 inside the lower end of the Right Upright 78 Insert a 3 8 x 4 1 2 Bolt 6 with a 3 8 Star Washer 9 into the Right Upright and the Bolt Spacer Repeat this step with a second Bolt Spacer 88 3 8 x 4 1 2 Bolt 6 and 3 8 Star Washer 9 Then set the Right Upright in the Right Upright Spacer Tighten the 3 8 x 4 1 2 Bolts 6 with your fin gers do not fully tighten the Bolts yet 5 With the help of a second person carefully tip the treadmill onto its right side Partially fold the Frame 56 so the treadmill is more stable do not fully fold the Frame yet Attach a Base Pad 81 to the Base 83 in the location shown with a 8 x 1 Tek Screw 2 and a Base Pad Spacer 13 Then attach another Base Pad 81 with only a 8 x 1 Tek Screw 2 Remove the 3 8 Nut 8 and the 3 8 x 2 Bolt 4 from the Base 83 Attach a Wheel 84
