5. the cut line i e the edge of a door 4 6 2 The guide may be attached either to the right side of Suide the planer or on its left side Guide Lock 4 6 3 Position the planer on the work piece that is to be ah N 4 6 4 Loosen the guide lock knob at the front of the planer 4 6 5 Insert the guide into the mounting hole located on either side toward the front of the planer Housing Slide the guide in until it contacts the edge of the work piece 4 6 6 Secure the guide in place by tightening the guide lock knob Work piece and work area set up 4 7 1 Designate a work area that is clean and well lit 4 7 2 You must not allow the working area to be accessed by children or pets this will help to prevent distraction and injury 4 7 3 Route the power cord along a safe route to reach the work area without creating a tripping hazard or exposing the power cord to possible damage 4 7 4 The power cord must reach the work area with enough extra length to allow free movement while working 4 7 5 Secure loose work pieces using a vice or clamps not included to prevent movement while working 4 7 6 There must not be objects such as cables etc nearby that will present a hazard while working 5 OPERATION A WARNING Before starting work confirm that both knives are properly aligned and that both knives are secured fully A NOTE Do not start to move the planer across the work piece until the knives are spinning at full spe
6. 2 Have an assistant hold a straight edge sold separately against the bottom of the rear base plate 4 4 3 Locate the set screws on the knife holder 4 4 4 Adjust one set screw until the knife just touches the straight edge on that side Set Screws Straight Edge Not Supplied 4 4 5 Adjust the other set screw until the knife just Knife Rear Base Plate touches the straightedge on that side as well 4 4 6 Turn the three knife holder bolts firmly in a clockwise direction to secure the knife in place 4 4 7 Rotate the knife drum 180 and change replace and adjust the other knife as above steps 4 4 8 IMPORTANT Carefully double check that the knives and knife holders are secure and that both knives are level before use 4 5 Depth Adjustment For a rough cut work piece use a deeper cut but never to exceed 4 16 Once the work piece is planed smooth make a number of shallower cuts to acquire the desired depth 4 5 1 The planer may be adjusted to cut to a depth of up to 1 16 per pass along the work piece 4 5 2 To increase the depth of cut turn the depth knob clockwise 4 5 3 To decrease the depth of cut turn the depth knob counter clockwise 4 5 4 Return the depth knob to read 0 on the ial when finished cutting Page 7 HYUNDAI 4 6 4 7 Guide Adjustment 4 6 1 The guide can be used to adjust the width of cut support the planer and keep the planer from drifting away from

8. ed 5 1 5 2 5 3 5 4 5 5 5 6 5 7 Page 8 Make sure that the trigger is in the off position then plug in the tool While standing to the side of the work piece hold the planer firmly with one hand on the handle portion of the housing and the other hand on the depth knob Do not turn the depth knob during Use Set the planer s front base plate on the front edge of the work piece Then depress the safety lock button and sgueeze the trigger to start the planer Start tool off of work piece and allow tool to reach full speed If tool vibrates or becomes noisy SWITCH IT OFF IMMEDIATELY unplug and allow it to come to a complete stop Adjust and tighten the knives to correct imbalance If vibration or noise persists do not use tool until inspected and repaired by a gualified technician While placing pressure on the front base plate to control the depth of cut and the guide if used to control the width of cut feed the planer slowly until the rear base plate contacts the work piece HYUNDAI Then transfer pressure to the rear base plate and continue planing slowly to the end of the cut Do not pull the planer back over the surface already cut 5 8 If necessary repeat Step 5 7 using progressively deeper cuts until you near the desired depth 5 9 Adjust the depth adjustment knob to make a light cut for the final pass to help give the work piece a cleaner finish The Planer s motor may stall if the tool is imprope
9. he knife drum until one knife holder and knife are accessible through the gap between the base plates 4 2 3 To loosen the knife holder from the drum Use the EE NE supplied wrench to turn the knife holder bolts in an Uu anticlockwise direction the bolts thread into the knife y p holder thus releasing pressure on the drum and ii H allowing the knife holder to be removed 3 i e 4 2 4 Use 8 piece of wood to slide the knife lengthwise out of the knife drum 4 2 5 Once the knife has been removed clean the knife rm the press blade plate knife holder and the knife drum Knife Drum thoroughly Carefully examine the knife holder for loose parts or signs of damage replace if damaged Front Base Plate Page 6 HYUNDAI 4 2 6 Use 8 piece of wood to slide the new or reversed knife lengthwise into the knife rum between the press blade plate and the knife holder 4 2 7 Place a straight edge or straight piece of wood nes Plate along the side surfaces of the front base plate and Rear Base Plate rear base plate Slide the knife against the straight edge or piece of wood so that it aligns evenly with both base Plates Align Knife Against Piece of Wood Meera 4 3 Turn the three knife holder bolts in a clockwise direction to secure the knife holder assembly in place At this stage only loosely tighten the bolts 4 4 Adjust the knife so that both ends are level 4 4 1 Set the depth Knob to 0 4 4
