1. 80 Chapter 8 Maintenance Replacing the Scanner Lamp Unit Replacing the Scanner Lamp Unit Introduction The lamp s effectiveness can gradually weaken over time and this can effect the quality of your scans A new lamp unit lamp reflector power connectors can be obtained through your dealer Oc Scanner Agent monitors lamp usage and will warn you when it is time for a replace ment Caution A Switch the scanner power off and disconnect the power plug Procedure Remarks Switch the scanner power off and disconnect the power plug Chapter 8 Maintenance 81 Replacing the Scanner Lamp Unit Remarks The lamp cover is on the top right side of the scanner Grasp the cover on each side with both hands and pull back to detach Lift the cover upwards to free it from the scanner You must remove the whole lamp unit A lamp unit consists of a lamp mounted in a reflector brace and fixed power connec tors Grasp the edge of the old lamp unit and carefully pull it out of the scanner 82 Chapter 8 Maintenance Replacing the Scanner Lamp Unit Remarks Reinsert the new lamp unit Rest the power connector side on the slider and carefully push the lamp unit into the scanner Insert the lamp unit all the way so the internal power connec tions engage with the connec tions on the lamp unit Replace the lamp cover on the scanner fit the bottom notches in the hole

The following basic functionality applies on all models The Paper Ready LED lights up when the media is inserted into the original s insertion slot and correctly positioned for feeding on a straight path It lights green for normal documents and yellow for thick media scanning Note See also this guide s sections on loading originals and Scanning Thick Media The media can then be moved into the start scan position by pressing the Paper Forward Key or through automatic loading The Paper Ready LED will blink during scanning The media can be moved back for ejection by pressing the Paper Reverse key Overview How it looks on the scanner Description Paper Forward and Paper Reverse Keys The Paper Forward Key moves the drawing into the start scan position for manual loading see section on Loading If Auto Load is set loading will occur automatically without pressing the key when the original enters the insertion slot Pressing the Paper Forward Key during scanning will stop the scanning process and feed the original through the scanner while the key is held down The Paper Reverse Key stops the current scanning process and reverses the original The original will be fed backwards through the scanner while the key is held down When the scanner is in Automatic Thickness Adjustment Control ATAC mode the paper forward and paper reverse keys become pressure platen up and pressure platen Down keys

22. ction of IT8 Calibration sheets results in slight differences between production batches This means that the Colour Patch Reference values in one batch of IT8 Calibra tion sheets do not necessarily match those in another production batch Colour matching and calibration are optimal when using your IT8 Calibration sheet with an IT8 calibration sheet reference data file corresponding to the sheet s production batch The Scanner Maintenance CD comes with a number of these files that are installed with the maintenance program The IT8 sheet batch ID is contained in the bar code on your maintenance sheet Your Scanner Maintenance program detects the batch ID so that it selects automatically the right IT8 calibration sheet reference data file among the list of files installed on your system Normally this process is automatic But in some cases the Scanner Maintenance program cannot find the matching IT8 calibration sheet reference file For example you may have obtained a calibration sheet to replace your original one that is newer than your Scanner Maintenance software version In such cases the matching reference file will not have been delivered and installed on your system Chapter 10 Oc Scanner Maintenance Oc Scanner Maintenance program The following dialog appears when the Oc Scanner Maintenance program cannot find the IT8 calibration sheet reference file that corresponds to the maintenance sheet being used x Cannot find
