Sit upright relax and face straight ahead e Hold the Patient E Stop control in lap or hands see below e Small lasers will be used for positioning close eyes e A Scout View X ray image will be taken to verify position e A Dry Run can demonstrate scanner movement without emitting X rays During the scan e Sit as still as possible for best image quality e Avoid talking chewing yawning swallowing coughing or slouching e Breathe naturally moving head as little as possible e The scan takes 40 seconds for adults 20 seconds for children e The overhead gantry will rotate Close eyes to avoid following this motion with the head or eyes e The scanner makes a chirping sound as it performs the scan e In case of any problem patient can stop the scan by pressing the PATIENT EMERGENCY STOP E Stop button on the Patient Control Box After the scan e The overhead gantry will rewind when the scan is complete e Please remain seated until the operator instructs you to exit the scanner Patient E Stop Control e Below is a picture of the Patient Control Box which includes the PATIENT EMERGENCY STOP E Stop button e This can hang within easy reach of the patient or can be held in the patient s hand during the scan e Hit the big red button on the e stop to stop the scanner if anything goes wrong e The gantry will stop moving and the X rays will cease Xoran Technologies Inc 2007 Rev 002 DCO 278 XoranForm
