HEGEL MUSIC SYSTEMS Hegel H80 High End Integrated Amplifier User manual USER GUIDE Congratulations on your new HEGEL H80 All Hegel products are based on a simple philosophy The audio reproduction instrument shall reproduce the original musical sound purely and naturally It shall use Scandinavian design reflecting natural music reproduction and styling to fit in with any interior The products shall be easy to operate and shall be manufactured according to the best quality principles All HEGEL products are designed with acoustical instruments in a concert situation as the point of refer ence The music is reproduced exactly like the original and is limited only by the quality of the recording Our aim is to give you the best possible music experience SOUND ADVICE The Hegel H80 Integrated Amplifier is easy to connect and operate and requires no prior technical knowledge However to get the most out of the amplifier s superior sound and music quality we have provided a brief description of the connections and use of the amplifier in order to provide a total music experience We recommend keeping this user guide for future reference USE amp PLACEMENT The HEGEL H80 should be placed on a hard flat surface to ensure proper cooling Air circulation is required above and below the amplifier so be certain there is space above and below it The amplifier performs best after being powered on for 1 hour to warm up the electroni
3. cs The amplifier must never be placed on a Carpet or similar surface that obstructs air circulation through the unit The amplifier should never be covered while in use or placed on a narrow shelf or in a confined space The amplifier automatically switches itself off if overheated The amplifier needs some break in time before maximum sound quality can be experienced Never lift the H80 by holding the volume knob or source knob The H80 is heavy and applying pressure may damage the knobs GENERAL USE Om 702 The H80 amplifier is switched on and off with the power button located on the bottom of the amplifier on he left side close to the front panel When powered up the H80 takes a few seconds to calibrate During his time the outputs are muted NOTE When powered up the outputs are muted and the right hand part of the display flashes for a few seconds indicating mute This is normal and is part of the start up procedure NOTE When the H80 has been switched off wait 30 seconds before powering on again Display The left side of the display shows the selected source input while the volume value is shown on the right side of the display A flashing volume value indicates the amplifier is in mute mode Source Selector The input source selector knob is on the left side of the front panel The three letters indicate the selected source input Volume The volume control knob is on the right side of the front panel The volume l

5. nput state Volume control The attached RC9 remote control has two separate sets of volume control buttons To adjust the output volume levels on the H80 you need to use the buttons to the top right UP 3 and DOWN 6 Computer controls The SKIP 13 and 15 and PLAY 14 buttons on the remote control allow you to maneuver the playlist in most media players The funtionality will normally not require any software installation but it does require that the computer is connected to the H80 with a USB cable TRANSPORT AND SHIPMENT When packing the amplifier for shipping please follow these instructions to avoid damaging the unit 1 Put the plastic bag around the amplifier Make sure the plastic bag does not press tightly on the knobs as this may damage them during transport 2 Place one of the shock absorbers on the floor inside facing up 3 Lift the H80 holding on to the center of the back and front panels avoiding the volume knob and input selector button so they do not get damaged 4 Carefully insert the H80 sideways into the shock absorber 5 Place the second shock absorber on the opposite side of the amplifier 6 Lift the H80 holding on to the center of the back and front panels avoiding the volume knob and input selector button so they do not get damaged Ensure the shock absorbers remain firmly fitted onto the left and right sides of the amplifier 7 Place the H80 in the box 8 Check that the plastic bag is loose ar
