11. 2 3 the the video to video your computer gt the video anize and store the file video file go Edit compress your video Basic video editing Every editing program works differently so this section cannot review basic editing processes but it can help you decide what kind of video editing applications you want to try out In general for your work in early childhood you will almost definitely want to be able to do these three basic editing functions 1 Cutting unwanted footage from clips you might do this so you are sharing only the important footage 2 Joining multiple clips you might want to join multiple clips if there was an interruption during a video recording session or to join clips from different visits to show progress over time 3 Compressing your video you might do this to make the file smaller so it is easier to share it is very easy to compress a file by 75 or more This is very useful for long clips Other video editing functions that you might want to do include 4 Adding captions or titles 5 Adding transition effects between clips e g a cross dissolve 6 Adding an audio track e g background music 7 Converting video to other file formats Important Notes e Not all editing applications especially the free ones will enable you to do all of the functions that you want them to do e Be sure that you choose software that matches the kinds of video files that your c
