As you exercise the workout intensity level bar will indicate the approximate intensity level of your exercise E INTENSITY lt gt lt Sai Press the Home button to return to the default menu see HOW TO CHANGE CONSOLE SETTINGS on page 28 to set the default menu If necessary press the Home button again The wireless symbol at the top of the display will show whether or not you are con nected to a wireless network Four arcs indicate full con nection see pages 28 31 EP e To reset the displays press the Stop button re move the key and then reinsert the key 6 Measure your heart rate if desired You can measure your heart rate using either the handgrip heart rate monitor or an optional chest heart rate monitor see page 28 for infor mation about the optional chest heart rate monitor Note The console is compatible with BLUETOOTH Smart heart rate monitors Note If you use both heart rate monitors at the same time the console will not display your heart rate accurately Before using the handgrip heart rate moni tor remove the sheets of plastic from the metal contacts on the pulse bar In ad dition make sure that your hands are clean To measure your heart rate stand on the foot rails and hold the pulse bar with your palms on the metal contacts avoid moving your hands When your pulse is detected a heart symbol will appear and then your heart rate will be shown For the mos
6. button repeatedly until the desired workout appears in the display Enter your maximum heart rate Use the increase and decrease buttons next to the Enter button to enter your maximum heart rate Next press the Enter button Then press the Start button Note To determine your maximum heart rate consult your physician or a physician recom mended source Enter a warm up speed The workout will begin with a two minute warm up period To enter a speed for the warm up period press the speed increase and decrease buttons or press one of the numbered Speed buttons Note The speed of the workout will increase relative to the warm up speed you have selected Start the workout The walking belt will begin to move at the warm up speed that you entered Hold the handrails and begin walking Follow your progress with the displays See step 5 on page 23 Turn on the fan if desired See step 7 on page 24 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console See step 8 on page 24 HOW TO USE AN IFIT WORKOUT Note To use an iFit workout you must have access to a wireless network see pages 28 to 31 An iFit account is also required Go to www iFit com to reg ister for an iFit account 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 22 Select the iFit mode Press the Home button repeatedly to select the iFit mode The iFit welcome message will appear in the display Select
7. the moving walking belt The treadmill is capable of high speeds Adjust the speed in small increments to avoid sudden jumps in speed The heart rate monitor is not a medical device Various factors including the user s movement may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The heart rate monitor is intended only as an exercise aid in determin ing heart rate trends in general Never leave the treadmill unattended while it is running Always remove the key press the power switch into the off position see the drawing on page 7 for the location of the power switch and unplug the power cord when the treadmill is not in use Do not attempt to move the treadmill until it is properly assembled See ASSEMBLY on page 9 and HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL on page 32 You must be able to safely lift 45 Ibs 20 kg to raise lower or move the treadmill When folding or moving the treadmill make sure that the storage latch is holding the frame securely in the storage position 26 27 28 29 30 Never insert any object into any opening on the treadmill Inspect and properly tighten all parts of the treadmill regularly DANGER Always unplug the power cord immediately after use before clean ing the treadmill and before performing the maintenance and adjustment procedures described in this manual Never remove the motor hood unless instructed to do so by an authorized service representative Servic

The distance display will show the total number of miles or kilometers that the walking belt has moved Navigate the settings mode menu While the settings mode is selected the matrix will display several optional screens Press the decrease button next to the Enter button to select each of the optional screens The lower section of the display will show instruc tions for the selected optional screen Make sure to follow the instructions shown in the lower part of the display Change settings as desired Demo The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is dis played in a store While the demo mode is turned on the console will function normally when you plug in the power cord press the power switch into the reset position and insert the key into the console However when you remove the key the displays will remain lit although the buttons will not function If the demo mode is turned on the word ON will appear in the matrix To turn on or turn off the demo mode press the Enter button Units The selected unit of measurement will appear in the matrix To change the unit of mea surement press the Enter button To view distance in miles select ENGLISH To view distance in kilometers select METRIC Default Menu The default menu will appear when you insert the key into the console or when you press the Home button Press the Enter button repeatedly to select the manual main scre

10. decrease and the walking belt may become damaged Remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller screws counterclockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is properly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in 5 to 7 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walk ing belt is properly tightened Idler Roller Screws Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high performance lubricant IMPORTANT Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform unless instructed to do so by an authorized service representative Such substances may deterio rate the walking belt and cause excessive wear If you suspect that the walking belt needs more lubricant see the front cover of this manual If the walking belt still slows when walked on see the front cover of this manual SYMPTOM The walking belt is off center or slips SYMPTOM The iFit mode does not function when walked on correctly a If the walking belt is off center first remove the a If the iFit mode is not functioning correctly make key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the sure that the treadmill has the most current firm walking belt has shifted to the left use the hex ware available see step 3 on page 29 key to turn th
11. few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning exercise with your heart rate near the middle number in your training zone Aerobic Exercise If your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular system you must perform aerobic exercise which is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time For aerobic exercise adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone WORKOUT GUIDELINES Warming Up Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretch ing and light exercise A warm up increases your body temperature heart rate and circulation in preparation for exercise Training Zone Exercise Exercise for 20 to 30 min utes with your heart rate in your training zone During the first few weeks of your exercise program do not keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise never hold your breath Cooling Down Finish with 5 to 10 minutes of stretch ing Stretching increases the flexibility of your muscles and helps to prevent post exercise problems EXERCISE FREQUENCY To maintain or improve your condition complete three workouts each week with at least one day of rest between workouts

14. number or symbol When you have finished entering the password press the Done button A numerical code and a web address will appear in the matrix Go to the web address on your internet compatible device Log in to your iFit account on the web page Then enter the numerical code into the indicated field Follow any other instructions on the web page When the console is connected to a wireless network the wireless symbol in the display will become solid The wireless symbol will show the strength of your wireless signal four arcs indicate full signal strength If you cannot complete any part of this process or if you have any questions go to support ifit com for assistance 30 5 Use WiFi Advanced to set up a wireless connection This option will allow you to set up a wireless network connection using your computer smart phone tablet or other Wi Fi device On your computer smart phone tablet or other Wi Fi device open the list of available networks to which your device can connect One of the options will be IFIT_SETUP select this network If this network does not appear make sure that your Wi Fi device is within range of the console and then close and re open your list of networks Also see Clear WiFi Setting on page 29 and clear any previous wireless network settings on the console Note The network IFIT_SETUP will not appear if the console has already been configured to connect to a wireless netw
15. other electronic equipment can be damaged by sudden voltage changes in your home s power Voltage surges spikes and noise interfer ence can result from weather conditions or from other appliances being turned on or off To decrease the risk of damaging the treadmill always use a surge suppressor with the treadmill To purchase a surge suppressor see precaution 13 on page 3 Use only a surge suppressor that is UL 1449 listed as a transient voltage surge suppressor TVSS The surge suppressor must have a UL suppressed voltage rating of 400 volts or less and a minimum surge dissipation of 450 joules The surge suppressor must also be electri cally rated for 120 volts AC and 15 amps There must be a monitoring light on the surge suppressor to indi cate whether it is functioning properly Failure to use a properly functioning surge suppressor could result in damage to the control system of the treadmill and serious injury to users Plug in the Power Cord The treadmill must be grounded If it should malfunc tion or break down grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of elec tric shock The treadmill power cord has a plug witha grounding pin see drawing 1 on this page A DANGER Improper connection of the power cord increases the risk of elec tric shock Do not modify the plug if it will not fit an outlet have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician If you are unsu

44. s factors may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The heart rate monitor is intended only as an exercise aid in determin ing heart rate trends in general These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program For detailed exercise information obtain a reputable book or consult your physician Remember proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system exercising at the proper inten sity is the key to achieving results You can use your heart rate as a guide to find the proper intensity level The chart below shows recommended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise 165 155 145 145 138 130 125 120 115 140 130 125 115 Y 125 118 110 103 110 105 95 90 vw 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 To find the proper intensity level find your age at the bottom of the chart ages are rounded off to the near est ten years The three numbers listed above your age define your training zone The lowest number is the heart rate for fat burning the middle number is the heart rate for maximum fat burning and the highest number is the heart rate for aerobic exercise 36 Burning Fat To burn fat effectively you must exer cise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy Only after the first
45. t accurate heart rate reading continue to hold the contacts for about 15 seconds Turn on the fan if desired The fan features multiple speed settings and an auto mode When the auto mode is selected the speed of the fan will automatically increase and decrease as the speed of the walking belt increases and decreases Press the fan buttons repeatedly to select a fan speed or the auto mode e AUTO et or to turn off the fan 24 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console Step onto the foot rails press the Stop button and adjust the incline of the treadmill to zero The incline must be at zero or you may damage the treadmill when you fold it to the storage posi tion Next remove the key from the console and put it in a secure place When you are finished using the treadmill press the power switch into the off position and unplug the power cord IMPORTANT If you do not do this the treadmill s electrical components may wear prematurely HOW TO USE AN ONBOARD WORKOUT 1 3 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 22 Select an onboard workout To select an onboard workout press the Calorie button the Intensity button the Incline button or the Speed button repeatedly until the desired work out appears in the display When you select an onboard workout the display will show the duration of the workout and the name of the workout In addition a pr

48. ting To erase the console s wireless network settings and have it forget the currently selected wireless network follow the instructions in the matrix Contrast To adjust the contrast level of the display press the Incline increase and decrease buttons Use WiFi Normal to set up a wireless connection This option will allow you to set up a wireless net work connection using the console Note You will need to know your network name SSID If your network has a password you will also need to know the password To set up a wireless network connection using the console first press the Enter button Next set the included WiFi setup card on the console The buttons on the WiFi setup card are referenced in the following instructions A list of networks will appear in the matrix Press the up and down buttons to highlight the desired network Then press the Enter button Note Do not select IFIT_SETUP Note The time display will show the number of the currently selected access point The distance display will show the total number of access points detected If the network has a password enter the password A keyboard will appear in the matrix As necessary press the buttons on the WiFi setup card to select the caps option the number option or the symbol option Press the up down left and right buttons to high light the desired letter or number Then press the Enter button to select the letter
