4. 4 Tighten the setscrew to secure the controller 28 www pridemobility com CONTROLLER BRACKET SETSCREW Figure 19 Underside of Armrest Contour Seat Quantum 600 Sport HD V ADJUSTMENTS To change the controller position 1 Turn off the power to the controller 2 Loosen the rear shroud fasteners and remove the rear shroud 3 Unplug the controller connector from the power FOOT base PLATFORM aiti Remove any wire ties securing the controller har RELEASE ness to the armrest Flip up the armrest so it is perpendicular to the floor Loosen the setscrew on the controller bracket Slide the controller out of the armrest Loosen the setscrew in the other armrest Place the controller in the other armrest 0 Tighten the setscrew in both armrests 1 Route the controller harness to the back of the power base and plug in the controller See figures 12 and 13 12 Replace the rear shroud and tighten the fasteners 13 Secure the controller harness to the armrest with Figure 20 Foot Platform Adjustment wire ties See figure 13 AE NOTE If your power chair is equipped with Spe LEVER FULLY cialty Seat Synergy Seat or TRU Balance Power Posi CLOSED tioning System refer to the supplemental information provided with your seating system CAM Foot Platform Height Adjustment The foot platform can be easily adjusted to different heights

Public Streets and Roadways WARNING You should not operate your power chair on public streets and roadways Be aware A that it may be difficult for traffic to see you when you are seated on your power chair Obey all z local pedestrian traffic rules Wait until your path is clear of traffic and then proceed with extreme caution Outdoor Driving Surfaces Your power chair is designed to provide optimum stability under normal driving conditions dry level surfaces composed of concrete blacktop or tarmac However Pride recognises that there will be times when you will encounter other surface types For this reason your power chair is designed to perform admirably on packed soil grass and gravel Feel free to use your power chair safely on lawns and in park areas Avoid driving on uneven terrain and or soft surfaces Avoid tall grass that can entangle the running gear Avoid loosely packed gravel and sand Do not use your power chair in fresh or salt water Do not use your power chair at the edge of a stream lake or ocean If you feel unsure about a driving surface avoid that surface Inclement Weather Precautions Exposure of your power chair to inclement weather conditions should be avoided whenever possible If suddenly caught up in rain snow severe cold or heat while operating your power chair proceed to shelter at the earliest opportunity Thoroughly dry your power chair before storing charging or operating your pow

VII CARE AND MAINTENANCE FRONT RIM WARNING Completely deflate the tyre before attempting repair Figure 25 Quantum 600 Sport HD Drive Wheel Figure 26 Quantum 600 Sport HD Drive Wheel Disassembled Follow these easy steps for a quick and safe repair for both pneumatic and solid tyres Turn off the power to the controller Set the power chair up on blocks If you are changing a pneumatic tyre completely deflate it before removing the wheel Remove the five 5 lug nuts from the wheel hub See figure 25 Pull the wheel off of the hub Remove the screws and separate the front and rear rim See figure 26 Remove the old tube from the pneumatic tyre and replace it with a new tube or replace the entire assembly if it is a solid tyre 8 Screw together the two rim halves 9 Slide the wheel back onto the hub 10 Reinstall the five 5 lug nuts onto the wheel hub and tighten 11 Inflate pneumatic tyres to the psi bar kPa air pressure rating indicated on each tyre 12 Remove the power chair from the blocks SY Battery Replacement A battery wiring diagram is printed on a decal located the power base See VI Batteries and Charging for correct battery specifications Ww compounds Wear goggles and gloves when handling batteries and wash hands after handling WARNING The batteries in your power chair should only be serviced or replaced by a Quantum Rehab Dealer or a qualified technician iN WARNING Battery po

Do not pick up the seat 7 N frame by the armrests They are free to 7 pivot and may lose control of the lt seat they so install seat 1 Tilt the seat back and slide rear extrusion onto the rear trapeze bar See figure 11 2 Lower the front extrusion onto the front trapeze bar until the seat latches into place 3 Flip the seat latch safety down WARNING Make sure the seat latch 7 N safety is flipped down before using K your power chair Install the controller and route harness to back of the power base See figures 12 and 13 5 Loosen the rear shroud fasteners and remove the rear shroud See figure 6 6 Plug the controller connector into the power base See figure 7 7 Replace the rear shroud and tighten the rear shroud fasteners See figure 6 8 Secure the controller harness to the armrest receiver with wire ties contour seats only See fig ure 13 MANDATORY Prevent controller harness damage Avoid routing the controller harness on the outside of the armrest pad Route the harness under the armrest or toward the inside of the armrest pad Use correct tie down points for controller harness to prevent the harness getting caught in the drive tyres pinched in the seat frame or damaged when passing through doorways SEAT LATCH SAFETY EXTRUSION TRAPEZE Figure 12 Controller Routed on a Synergy Sea

12. flammable or combustible items Positioning Belts Your Quantum Rehab Dealer therapist s and other healthcare professionals are responsible for determining your requirement for a positioning belt in order to operate your power chair safely The positioning belt is not designed for use as a restraining device in a motor vehicle You should be properly belted into seats approved by the vehicle manufacturer with your power chair properly stowed for vehicle transport or secured using an optional transit securement system Positioning belts should be installed as detailed in this manual See V Comfort Adjustments Once installed the belt should be placed across the pelvis as determined by your healthcare provider Anchor points of the posi tioning belts should be located so that a projected side view angle of the pelvis is between 45 75 of horizontal depending on the user s weight posture and seat cushion thickness WARNING If you require a positioning belt to safely operate your power chair make sure it is fastened securely in order to reduce the possibility of a fall from the power chair JN WARNING The positioning belt is not designed for use as a seat belt in a motor vehicle Nor is your power chair suitable for use seat in any vehicle Anyone traveling in a vehicle should be properly belted into seats approved by the vehicle manufacturer If your power chair is equipped with a manufacturer installed transit secu

14. mobility Pride provides an extensive variety of products to best fit the individual needs of the power chair user Please be aware that the final selection and purchasing decision regarding the type of power chair to be used is the responsibility of the power chair user who is capable of making such a decision and his her healthcare professional 1 medical doctor physical therapist etc The contents of this manual are based on the expectation that a mobility device expert has properly fitted the power chair to the user and has assisted the prescribing healthcare professional and or the Quantum Rehab Dealer in the instruction process for the use of the product There are certain situations including some medical conditions where the power chair user will need to practice operating the power chair in the presence of a trained attendant A trained attendant can be defined as a family member or care professional specially trained in assisting a power chair user in various daily living activities As you begin using your power chair during daily activities you will probably encounter situations in which you will need some practice Simply take your time and you will soon be in full and confident control as you manoeu vre through doorways on and off of lifts up and down ramps and over moderate terrain Below are some precautions tips and other safety considerations that will help you become accustomed to oper ating your power chair safely
15. removable power chair parts including the armrests seat front riggings controller and shrouds should be removed and or properly secured during motor vehicle transport If your power chair is equipped with a transit securement system refer to IV Assembly and the supplement provided with your power chair for additional information regarding power chair transport in a motor vehicle Quantum 600 Sport HD www pridemobility com 13 11 SAFETY WARNING Pride does not recommend using the power chair as a seat in a motor vehicle The power chair user should transfer into the vehicle seat and use the vehicle installed belt restraint system if and whenever feasible If your power chair is equipped with a manufacturer installed transit securement system please refer to the supplemental safety information provided with your power chair WARNING Ensure power chairs equipped with a transit securement system are properly secured to the motor vehicle during transport Power chairs that are not properly secured can become a hazard to the user and to other vehicle passengers in the event of a crash sudden stopping or swerving as the power chair could tip or slide out of place WARNING Always be sure your power chair and its batteries are properly secured when it is being transported Batteries should be secured in an upright position and protective caps should be installed on the battery terminals Batteries should not be transported with any

ING Pride strongly recommends that you do not smoke cigarettes while seated in your power chair although the power chair has passed the necessary testing requirements for cigarette smoking You must adhere to the following safety guidelines if you decide to smoke cigarettes while seated in your power chair m Do not leave lit cigarettes unattended m Keep ashtrays a safe distance from the seat cushions m Always make sure cigarettes are completely extinguished before disposal Flammability Precautions WARNING Even though the plastics on your power chair have passed the applicable flammability standards Pride recommends that you do not expose your power chair to open A flames J N WARNING Replace worn or damaged upholstery immediately to reduce the risk of fire hazard WARNING Be aware that washing of upholstered items may reduce the resistence to flammability of the fabric Electromagnetic and Radio Frequency Interference EMI RFI SaN WARNING Laboratory tests have shown that electromagnetic and radio frequency waves can N have an adverse effect on the performance of electrically powered mobility vehicles Electromagnetic and Radio Frequency Interference can come from sources such as cellular phones mobile two way radios such as walkie talkies radio stations TV stations amateur radio HAM transmitters wireless com puter links microwave signals paging transmitters and medium range mobile transceivers used by

In the open position 2 Turn the nut clockwise until it is snug 3 Rotate the lever until it is in the fully closed position NOTE If the lever will not rotate to the fully closed position then turn the nut anticlockwise one quarter or one half turn Foot Platform Angle Adjustment You can adjust the angle of the foot platform To adjust the foot platform angle 1 Flip up the foot platform and locate the screw See figure 22 2 Turn the screw to raise or lower the front of the foot platform Positioning Belt Your power chair may be equipped with a positioning belt that can be adjusted for operator comfort See fig ure 23 The positioning belt is designed to support the operator so that he she does not slide down or forward in the seat The positioning belt is not designed for use as a restraining device To install the positioning belt 1 Remove the the rearmost screw that holds the seat hinge to the seat base on both the left and right seat hinges 2 Insert the screw through the supplied washer through the positioning belt and into the seat base for each side of the power chair 3 Tighten both screws Figure 23 Positioning Belt Adjustment To adjust the positioning belt for operator comfort 1 Once seated insert the metal tab on one side of the belt into the plastic housing on the opposite side until you hear a click See figure 23 2 Pull the excess strap attached to the metal tab unt

20. accessories do not become caught in lift doors Lift Systems Elevation Products If you will be transporting your power chair during travel you may find it necessary to use a vehicle mounted lift system or elevation product to aid in transportation Pride recommends that you closely review the warnings instructions specifications and safety information set forth by the manufacturer of the lift elevation product before using that product WARNING Not all lift systems elevation products are rated for use with an occupied mobility device Pride recommends that you do not remain seated in your power chair when it is being used in connection with any type of lift system elevation product unless That product is rated for occupied use by the manufacturer N m You are able to occupy your mobility device in strict conformity with the warnings 4 N instructions specifications and safety guidelines set forth by the manufacturer WARNING Always turn off the power to the controller when you are being transferred via an elevation product Failure to do so may result in accidental joystick contact resulting in unintended movement and personal injury or product damage Motor Vehicle Transport Pride recommends that you do not remain seated in your power chair while traveling in a motor vehicle The power chair should be stowed in the boot of a car or in the back of a truck or van with the batteries removed and or properly secured In addition all
21. adjustments to Increase your comfort such as seat height and angle armrest width armrest angle and height foot platform height depth and angle and controller position NOTE If your power chair is equipped with a Specialty Seat Synergy Seat or TRU Balance Power Positioning System refer to the information provided in separate manuals WARNING The centre of gravity of your power chair was factory set to a position that meets the needs of the demographic majority of users Your Quantum Rehab Dealer has evaluated your power chair and made any necessary adjustments to suit your specific requirements Do not change your seating configuration without first contacting Pride Mobility Products or your IN Quantum Rehab Dealer N WARNING Some power chair components are heavy You may need assistance to lift or carry i them Please refer to the specifications table for specific component weights before you disassemble the power chair WARNING Remove the occupant from the power chair before making any adjustments You may need the following to make comfort adjustments TRAPEZE BARS metric standard socket set and ratchet m adjustable spanner E metric standard hex key set G thread lock Seat Height and Seat Angle Adjustment gt T RETAINING You can change the seat height to one of three posi S or CLIPS tions by raising the front and rear trapeze bars If you raise lower trapeze bar front you can a
22. afely controlled descent WARNING When on any sort of an incline or decline never place the power chair in 9 freewheel mode especially while seated it standing next to it WARNING When climbing an incline do not zigzag or drive at an angle up the face of the incline Drive your power chair straight up the incline This greatly reduces the possibility of a tip or a fall Always exercise extreme caution when negotiating an incline WARNING You should not travel up or down a potentially hazardous incline i e AN areas covered with snow ice cut grass or wet leaves j 4 WARNING Traveling down inclines rearward may have an adverse effect on the i stability of the power chair Although the power chair is in compliance with all ISO rearward static and dynamic stability testing Pride strongly recommends that inclines be negotiated in the forward facing position to reduce the possibility of a tip or fall In the case of wheelchair accessible vehicles the suitability of the vehicle mounted ramp should be determined before using your power chair with the WAV 10 www pridemobility com Quantum 600 Sport HD II SAFETY WARNING If your power chair is equipped with a reclining seatback do not attempt to negotiate inclines with the seat in a reclined position Do not attempt to negotiate obstacles with the seat in a reclined position unless an attendant is present to help stabilise the chair Failure to heed
23. d Charging 7 AN WARNING If you fail to store the unit properly the frame can rust and the electronics can be N damaged Batteries that are regularly and deeply discharged infrequently charged stored in extreme temperatures or stored without a full charge may be permanently damaged causing unreliable performance and limited service life It is recommended that you charge the batteries periodically throughout periods of prolonged storage to ensure proper performance You may wish to place several boards under the frame of your power chair to raise it off of the ground during periods of prolonged storage This takes the weight off the tyres and reduces the possibility of flat spots develop ing on the areas of the tyres contacting the ground Disposal of Your Power Chair Your power chair must be disposed of according to applicable local and national statutory regulations Contact your local waste disposal agency or Quantum Rehab Dealer for information on proper disposal of power chair packaging metal frame components plastic components electronics batteries neoprene silicone and polyure thane materials Cleaning and Disinfection m Use a damp cloth and mild non abrasive cleanser to clean the plastic and metal parts of your power chair Avoid using products that may scratch the surface of your power chair If necessary clean your product with an approved disinfectant Make sure the disinfectant is safe for use on your product be

28. eek or less you should charge the batteries at least once per week for 12 to 14 hours NOTE Keep your batteries fully charged and avoid deeply discharging your batteries Refer to the manual supplied with the battery charger for charging instructions How can I get maximum range or distance per charge Rarely do you have an ideal driving situation such as smooth flat hard terrain with no wind hills or curves More often you are presented with hills pavement cracks uneven and loosely packed surfaces curves and wind All of these factors will affect the distance or running time per battery charge Below are a few suggestions for obtaining the maximum range per charge Always charge the batteries fully prior to your trip Plan your trip in advance to avoid inclines if possible Limit baggage weight to essential items Try to maintain an even speed and avoid stop and go driving What type of batteries should I use We recommend deep cycle batteries that are sealed and maintenance free Both AGM and Gel Cell are deep cycle batteries that are similar in performance Refer to the specifications table for more information regarding the batteries used with your power chair WARNING Corrosive chemicals contained in batteries Use only AGM or Gel Cell batteries to reduce the risk of leakage or explosive conditions Why do my new batteries seem weak Deep cycle batteries employ a much different chemical technology than that used in car ba

53. t You can change each armrest s width independently of the other NOTE Changing the armrest width may increase the overall width of your power chair To change the armrest width 1 Locate the two armrest knobs on each side of the armrest recetver bracket See figure 18 2 Loosen the knobs 3 Slide the armrests in or out to the desired width 4 Tighten the knobs Armrest Height Adjustment To change the armrest height 1 Loosen the two setscrews located on the armrest 2 Raise or lower armrest to desired height 3 Tighten the setscrews to secure the armrest Armrest Angle Adjustment To change the armrest angle 1 Lift the armrest straight up so that it is perpendicular to the floor See figure 18 2 Loosen the locking nut 3 Turn the adjusting screw to raise or lower the front of the armrest 4 Tighten the locking nut to lock the adjusting screw into place Controller Position You can move the controller in toward or out away from the armrest or change the position of the controller for either left hand or right hand use WARNING Do not place the controller 7 N harness so that it be pinched the K seat frame or the power base frame To extend the controller 1 Flip up the armrest so it is perpendicular to the floor 2 Loosen the setscrew on the controller bracket See figure 19 3 Slide the controller into or out of the armrest to the desired position
