Hardware Installation SY 6IBM Quick Start Guide Step 3 Configure Memory Your board comes with three DIMM sockets providing support for up to 768MB of main memory using DIMM modules from 8MB to 256MB For 66MHz frontside bus CPUs use 12ns or faster memory for LOOMHz front side bus CPUs use 8ns 100MHz PC 100 compliant memory Memory Configuration Table Number of Memory Modules a et a ae RAM Type SDRAM Memory Module Size MB 8 16 32 64 128 256 Mbytes Notex1 256 MB memory modules only available on PC registered DIMM 2 Always install memory modules in the order prescribed in this table 3 Do not install unbuffered and registered memory modules together Important It is of prime importance that you install DIMM modules as outlined in the table above in order to preserve signal integrity on LOOMHZ front side bus systems Step 4 Enable Disable Power On by PS 2 Keyboard J P1 You can choose to enable the Power On by PS 2 Keyboard function by shorting pin 2 3 on jumper P 1 otherwise short pin 1 2 to disable this function Support Power On by Keyboard Disable Enable Disable Power On fo 3 Enable Power On 3 JP1 Setting by PS 2 Keyboard by PS 2 Keyboard function function short pin 1 2 short pin 2 3 oj 1 Important When using the Power On by PS 2 Keyboard function please make sure the ATX power supply can take at least 720mA

19. tarily shorting pin 2 3 on jumper J P5 for at least 5 seconds and then by shorting pin 1 2 to retain new settings This jumper can be easily identified by its white colored cap CMOS Clearing Retain CMOS Data Clear CMOS Data gt 3 Short pin 2 3 for Q 3 Qi 2 at least 5 seconds Q 2 l 1 to clear the CMOS o 1 Short pin 1 2 to retain JP5 Setting the new settings Note You must unplug the ATX power cable from the ATX power connector when performing the CMOS Clear operation 10 SY 6IBM Quick Start Guide Note on Over clocking Capability The 6IBM Motherboard provides over clocking capability Due to the over clocking setting your system may failto boot up or hang during run time Ifthis occurs please perform the following steps to recover your system from the abnormal situation 1 Tum off system power If you use a ATX power supply sometimes you have to press the power button for more then 4 seconds to shut down the system Setthe J P3 to pin 2 3 short if you use a FSB 66MHz CPU Press and hold down the lt insert gt key while tuming on the system power Keep holding down the lt insert gt key until you see the message of the CPU type and frequency 133MHz or 200MH2 appear on screen Press the lt Del gt key during the system diagnostic checks to enter the Award BIOS Setup program From the BIOS main menu select SOYO COMBO and move the cursor to the CPU Frequency field to set the proper working
