3. hotographi Society of Northwest Arkansas May June 2010 dini Carrol Copeland to zz speak at June Meeting aa Blue Competition Winners Fall Fair Photographic Competition Deadline ot PSNWA Members Y Yard Sale 57 PSNWA Member Images on Exhibit at P d Crystal Bridges Upcoming Classes Events amp Competitions Portfolio Images of Tom Sizemore Photograph by Carrol Copeland Letter from Chairman 1 had the pleasure to attend the opening of a juried photography exhibit Looking at our Landscape at Crystal Bridges at the Massey on April 2 along with PSNWA board members Eric Molle John Baltz Sean Doyle Joe Sparks and Pat Sides The exhibit featured photographers from all over Northwest Arkansas including several members of PSNWA Congratulations to winners Patrick Lanford Joseph Sparks Bill Dark Sean Doyle Kathy Mayhue Harold Hull and Don Lowe Also attending were Bob King Linda Whitaker Bob Shull and PSNWA friends and speakers Don House and Ewart Don was one of the exhibit s jury members The exhibit will remain on dis play through May 30 2010 encourage you to go see these wonderful photographs It s May and I would normally be encouraging you to sign up for MAPSym This past year however the leadership of MAPSym decided to hold the event every other year So that means we won t have a symposium this year It will be back next year though never fear What do ph

14. without giving up shutter speed ISO 400 This should produce shutter speeds around 4 1000 0r higher which should be fast enough to freeze the action ISO s of 800 or 1600 will increase shutter speed but could produce grainy results An ISO of 200 will reduce shutter speeds by half And ISO 100 will reduce shutter speeds by another half For Panning shots race car frozen in motion but background blurry you will want a shutter speed around 1 80 to 1 100 For that try reducing ISO to 100 If that doesn t work switch to shutter priority and set the shutter speed to your desired speed IS Image Stabilization If your lens has that feature then use setting number 2 My owners manual says this setting is perfect for panning shots Focus Mode Al Servo This setting allows the camera to continuously focus while tracking a moving car by holding down the shutter button half way This works regardless if the car is moving toward you or away from you Shooting Mode Continuous This setting allows you to shoot multiple frames in a rapid fire sequence Also known as burst mode You can still shoot single frames if desired Note The Focus Mode and Shooting Modes listed above are for Canon equipment Nikon users as well as other brands may have the same features but under different names Consult your user manual to see if these features are available on your camera One of the many benefits of b
