3. hat the smaller diameter tube attaches to the bracket with the smaller diameter bar Extend the length of the telescopic tubes as far as the wheelchair permits and then tighten the quick release handle Position the PowerStroll unit so that it is comfortable for the PowerStroll operator and tighten the quick release handle on the PowerStroll unit The tubes are spring loaded to assist with installation Unscrew the cap head screw from the hand controller and install the hand controller at the desired position on the wheelchair push handle Secure the hand controller by screwing the cap head screw until the screw is tight and the controller is secure A screw with longer thread is included for use on wheelchairs with larger diameter tubing 6 DISASSEMBLY AND TRANSPORTATION The PowerStroll comes with a holdall to carry it when not in use To disassemble to PowerStroll first loosen the quick release handles and remove the telescopic tubes from the wheelchair brackets Then remove the tubes from the PowerStroll The PowerStroll can then be lifted using the handle on the unit The battery also comes in a handy bag which can also be removed to reduce the carry weight of the unit First disconnect the battery as described in the next section Then pull the handle on the battery bag to remove The battery bag is held on the PowerStroll with Velcro The battery supplied with the PowerStroll GS Portalac is classified as safe for air travel by compliance

6. ped up so it is lifted off the ground When connecting disconnection the battery from the motor or the charger make sure both the power to the charger and PowerStroll handcontroller are switched off Ensure the PowerStroll is secured when in transit Ensure that the battery is charged only with the battery charger supplied with the PowerStroll Using another battery charger may cause damage or injury Be careful when installing the telescopic tubes These are spring loaded and may cause damage or injury if caution is not taken when installing or removing these 5 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1 The following parts are supplied PowerStroll unit handcontroller keys pair telescopic tubing wheelchair brackets pair charger and lead and owners handbook Remove all the PowerStroll components from the packaging Ensure the handcontroller is switched off To switch off the handcontroller turn the key anticlockwise and remove the key Attach the brackets to either side of the wheelchair so that the PowerStroll is as far to the rear of the wheelchair as possible without causing discomfort to the person pushing the wheelchair Secure the brackets by tightening the allen screws using a 4mm allen key Unscrew the quick release handle from the PowerStroll unit and slide in the telescopic tubing Then attach the telescopic tubes to the brackets installed on the wheelchair The tubing is spring loaded to assist with the installation Ensure t

8. with IATA special provision A67 PowerStroll Owners Handbook Part code Z23000 Page 2 of 4 7 BATTERY CHARGING AND CARE To ensure optimum performance and reliability the battery should be charged after every use of the PowerStroll The battery should also be charged periodically e g fortnightly when the PowerStroll is not in use 1 Disconnect the battery from the motor by unplugging the 3 pin round plug on the cable running between the battery and PowerStroll Charge the battery by connecting the battery to the charger with the 3pin round plug and switch the charger on at the mains A red LED will illuminate on the charger to indicate is powered by the mains Ensure the battery is fully charged An LED will illuminate on the charger The LED lights orange when charging and green when fully charged If the LED is lit green then the battery is charging in trickle mode Ensure the battery is charged for at least 12 hours to allow the battery to trickle charge the battery Trickle charging the battery maintains and can even improve battery performance Disconnect the battery from the charger then reconnect the battery to the motor 8 OPERATING THE POWERSTROLL 1 Ensure that the battery is connected to the motor and that the battery has sufficient charge for your journey Ensure that the wheelchair user is sat in the wheelchair before use Insert the key in to the hand controller if necessary Turn the PowerStroll on standby
