2. 5 3 SD Card Data Logging The Smartfind M10 records voyage data onto a SD card in log files in a txt format The compatible SD card types supported by the M10 are listed as followed e Standard SD with maximum 2GB size e Supported data format FAT12 16 e Standard SDHC with maximum 32GB size e Supported data format FAT32 To ensure correct operation the SD card must be inserted before M10 is powered on When a SD card is inserted into the card slot as shown below and powered up the unit will start data logging When the unit is data logging it is indicated by the flashing green SD LED indicator The log files naming convention is AIS XXXXXX txt and each los file will be incremented from 000001 to 999999 depending on memory size of SD card The log file will also include the vessel s GPS sentence which will be in IEC61162 format When the SD card memory is full the SD LED indicator will turn a steady green to remind user to replace the SD card Once the SD card is full no further data logging will take place until the SD is replaced with an empty or a SD card that has available capacity Removing the SD card from the transponder stops data logging immediately and the SD LED will turn off Make sure the transponder s power is off before inserting a SD card if the card is inserted when the unit is on the SD LED will be a steady green and no data logging will occur 28 Figure 7 Inserting SD memory card 29 5 4 Wi

4. 2A Power On the power source which turns on the transponder unit Program MMSI and vessel information into the device using the configuration software before installation Perform LED checking and system functional test Connect the unit to a chart plotter via NMEA0183 or NMEA2000 interface if applicable 12 4 2 Mounting the M10 Unit The following guidelines should be noted when selecting the environment to install your McMurdo Smartfind M10 Do not install the M10 AIS transponder in a flammable or hazardous atmosphere such as in an engine or generator room or close to fuel tanks Installation of the transponder should be undertaken a safe environment without being exposed to any splashing from water or rain There should be adequate space around the AIS transponder for routing of cables See figure below for details of the AIS transponder dimensions safe distance of the transponder to any magnetic compass is at least 0 55m The operating temperature for the unit is between 15 C and 55 C The AIS transponder should be installed and mounted on a flat surface or it can be mounted on a wall with the four self tapping screws supplied The device should be mounted a location where the indicators can readily be observed as these indicators deliver relevant information on the status of the AIS transponder 13 4 3 Installing the AIS Transponder E E 5 F Figure1 Mounting the tran
