D receiver the SV 301xI Wall Plate is shown merely for purposes of illustration Step 6 Upload the EDID O Press and release the EDID WRITE button The EDID WRITE button flashes slowly approximately once per second for 3 seconds When the button stops flashing the EDID has been written O Disconnect the EDID receiver Step 7 Turn off the FC 200 2 KRAMER SIMPLE CREATIVE TECHNOLOGY Overview 3 Overview The Kramer Pico TOOLS FC 200 is an XGA EDID Extended Display Identification Data see Section 3 1 copier and uploader used to read and write EDID to and from various devices The FC 200 has a combined VGA input and output on a single 15 pin HD computer graphics video connector The FC 200 is connected to a display device to capture read and store the EDID from the display device The FC 200 can then be connected to an interfacing device for example the Kramer SV 301x1 Wall Plate to which it can write upload the stored EDID information This prevents the problem whereby a source for example a PC fails to output video because it was not connected to the display device when attempting to read its EDID The FC 200 features e A 15 pin HD connector for input and output signals e EDID READ and WRITE pushbuttons e Power by a OV internal battery e An ON OFF power switch and ON LED e Visual indication of successful unsuccessful read write To achieve the best performance e Use only good quality connectio

8. g and Writing the EDID Using the FC 200 XGA EDID Copier to Read and Write the EDID To read the EDID information 1 Connect the FC 200 to the VGA connector on the display device for example a projector using the VGA cable provided 2 Turn the FC 200 on The ON LED lights continually and the READ and WRITE buttons flash alternately for approximately three seconds as the unit performs a self test Wait for the buttons to stop flashing 3 Press the EDID READ button The EDID READ button flashes slowly for approximately 3 seconds while the EDID information is read and stored in the non volatile memory of the FC 200 Slow flashing of the EDID READ button indicates a successful read operation When the button stops flashing the EDID has been stored If the button flashes quickly this indicates a failed read operation Either the connection has failed or the EDID is corrupt Check the connection and repeat this step 4 Disconnect the display from the FC 200 To write the EDID to the EDID receiver 1 Connect the FC 200 to the VGA connector on the EDID receiver for example a wall plate using the VGA cable provided Do not write the EDID to any device that is not an EDID receiver Damage to the device may occur 2 Turn the EDID receiver on 3 Press the EDID WRITE button The EDID WRITE button flashes slowly for approximately 3 seconds while the EDID information is written to the EDID receiver Slow flashing of the

11. s Feature Function 1 EDID WRITE pushbutton Press to write the EDID to an EDID receiver 2 INPUT OUTPUT 15 pin HD Connects to the VGA display during reading and to connector the EDID receiver during writing 3 EDID READ pushbutton Press to acquire the EDID from the display source 4 ONLED Lights when the unit is switched on 5 ON OFF power switch Turns the FC 200 on or off KRAMER SIMPLE CREATIVE TECHNOLOGY Installing the Battery 5 Installing the Battery To install the battery 1 Ensure that the FC 200 is turned off 2 Using a Philips screwdriver remove the two screws that retain the panel bearing the ON OFF switch and lay it aside 3 Attach the battery connector to the battery taking care that the polarity is correct The connector fits the battery in one orientation only 4 Slide the battery into the housing with the wires that exit the connector facing the ON OFF switch Note that the battery can fit fully into the housing only if the wires of the connector exit towards the switch 5 Replace the panel insert and tighten the retaining screws 6 Using the FC 200 XGA EDID Copier to Read and Write the EDID Copying the EDID is a two step process consisting of 1 Connecting the display device to the FC 200 reading the EDID and disconnecting the display 2 Connecting the EDID receiver to the FC 200 and writing the EDID Display SV 301XL Figure 2 Readin
