See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER at the left If necessary press the Incline buttons to adjust the incline level to 0 percent Note lt may take a minute for the console to be ready for use Select the start menu Each time the key is in serted the start menu will appear If the iFit login screen appears press the Main Menu button and then press the Back button to re turn to the start menu If you have selected a workout or the iFit Live mode press the iFit Menu button in the upper right corner of the screen Next press the End Workout button and then press the Done button to return to the start menu Note A Demo button may appear in the lower left corner of the screen If you press the Demo button the treadmill will run a preset presentation Start the walking belt and adjust the speed To start the walking belt press the Start button on the screen or the Start button on the console The walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph As you exercise change the speed of the walking belt as desired by pressing the Speed increase and de crease buttons Each time you press one of the buttons the speed setting will change by 0 1 mph if you hold down the button the speed setting will change in increments of 0 5 mph If you press one of the numbered 1 Step Speed buttons the walking belt will gradually change speed until it reaches the selected speed setting To select a speed setting that includes a decimal
4. 1750 treadmill offers an impressive selection of fea tures designed to make your workouts at home more enjoyable and effective And when you re not exercis ing the unique treadmill can be folded up requiring less than half the floor space of other treadmills For your benefit read this manual carefully before using the treadmill If you have questions after read ing this manual please see the front cover of this man ual To help us assist you please note the product model number and serial number before contacting us The model number and the location of the serial num ber decal are shown on the front cover of this manual Before reading further please review the drawing below and familiarize yourself with the labeled parts Console Handrail Upright Walking Belt Foot Rail Idler Roller Adjustment Bolts Pulse Sensor Key Clip Power Switch 45 Power Cord Platform Cushion ASSEMBLY Assembly requires two persons Set the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packi ing materials Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed Note The underside of the treadmill walking belt is coated with high performance lubricant During shipping some lubricant may be transferred to the top of the walking belt or the shipping carton This is normal and does not affect treadmill perform ance If there is lubri cant on top of the walking belt sim

Place the treadmill on a level surface with at least 8 ft 2 4 m of clearance behind it and 2 ft 0 6 m on each side Do not place the treadmill on any surface that blocks air open ings To protect the floor or carpet from dam age place a mat under the treadmill Do not operate the treadmill where aerosol products are used or where oxygen is being administered Keep children under age 12 and pets away from the treadmill at all times The treadmill should be used only by persons weighing 375 Ibs 170 kg or less Never allow more than one person on the treadmill at a time Wear appropriate exercise clothes while using the treadmill Do not wear loose clothes that could become caught in the treadmill Athletic support clothes are recommended for both men and women Always wear ath letic shoes Never use the treadmill with bare feet wearing only stockings or in sandals When connecting the power cord see page 14 plug the power cord into a surge sup pressor not included and plug the surge suppressor into a grounded circuit capable of 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 carrying 15 or more amps No other appliance should be on the same circuit Do not use an extension cord Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 14 To purchase a surge suppressor see your local NordicTrack dealer or call the tele phone number on the front cover of thi
6. b Make sure the wireless settings on your console are correct see step 2 on page 23 c Make sure the settings for your wireless network are correct d If you still have questions see the front cover of this manual PROBLEM The buttons on the screen do not work correctly SOLUTION a If the screen is not properly calibrated it will be difficult to touch the correct buttons on the screen To calibrate the screen see step 5 on page 25 31 EXERCISE GUIDELINES A WARNING Before beginning this or any exercise program consult your physi cian This is especially important for persons over age 35 or persons with pre existing health problems The pulse sensor is not a medical device Various factors may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The pulse sensor is in tended only as an exercise aid in determining heart rate trends in general These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program For detailed exercise information obtain a reputable book or consult your physician Remember proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system exercising at the proper inten sity is the key to achieving results You can use your heart rate as a guide to find the proper intensity level The chart below shows recommended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise 165 155 145 140 130 125 115
7. d Check the power switch see the drawing above If the switch has tripped wait for five minutes and then press the switch back in Make sure that the power cord is plugged in If the power cord is plugged in unplug it wait for five minutes and then plug it back in Remove the key from the console Reinsert the key into the console If the treadmill still will not run please see the front cover of this manual PROBLEM The console displays remain lit when you remove the key from the console SOLUTION a The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is displayed in a store If the screen shows a preset presentation when you remove the key the demo mode is turned on To turn off the demo mode hold down the Stop button for a few seconds If the demo mode is still on see step 5 on page 24 to turn off the demo mode PROBLEM The displays of the console do not function properly SOLUTION a Remove the key from the console and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Place the treadmill in the stor age position see HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL on page 28 Next remove the two indicated 8 x 3 4 Screws 1 29 Lower the treadmill see HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE on page 28 Remove the three 8 x 3 4 Screws 1 Carefully pivot the Motor Hood 71 off Locate the Reed Switch 52 and the Magnet 50 on the left side of the Pulley 49 Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with

Y 145 138 130 125 118 110 103 125 120 115 110 105 95 90 vw 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 To find the proper intensity level find your age at the bottom of the chart ages are rounded off to the near est ten years The three numbers listed above your age define your training zone The lowest number is the heart rate for fat burning the middle number is the heart rate for maximum fat burning and the highest number is the heart rate for aerobic exercise 32 Burning Fat To burn fat effectively you must exer cise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning exercise with your heart rate near the middle number in your training zone Aerobic Exercise If your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular system you must perform aerobic exer cise which is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time For aerobic ex ercise adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone WORKOUT GUIDELINES Warming Up Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise A wa
9. and at least one DNS Press the arrow buttons to view additional entry boxes When you are finished press the Submit button To re turn to the advanced settings screen press the Cancel button To use a static DNS press the Use Static DNS button Enter at least one DNS Press the arrow buttons to view additional entry boxes When you are finished press the Submit button To return to the advanced settings screen press the Cancel button To use encryption press the Use Encryption but ton Select the encryption type and enter the pass word When you are finished press the Submit button To return to the advanced settings screen press the Cancel button Note If you turn on en cryption on a non encrypted network or select the wrong encryption type the console will not function correctly If necessary press the Cancel button to exit the advanced settings screen If you are having problems connecting unencrypt your network update your console firmware see step 8 on page 26 and then encrypt your network Note The iFit Live mode supports unsecured and secured WEP WPA and WPA2 encryption A broadband connection is recommended perfor mance depends on connection speed Note If you have questions after following these in structions go to www iFit com support for assis tance 3 Log in to your Fit Live account To switch Fit Live accounts touch the Fit Live Login button Then enter your user name and
10. onsole wire See the inset drawing The connectors Assembly should slide together easily and snap into place If they do not turn one connector and try again IF YOU DO NOT CONNECT THE CON NECTORS PROPERLY THE CONSOLE MAY BECOME DAMAGED WHEN YOU TURN ON THE POWER Then remove the wire tie from the Upright Wire Console Wire 7 Insertthe wires into the Left Upright 89 as you set the console assembly on the Left Upright and the Right Upright 90 Be careful not to P Console pinch the Upright Wire 84 f SS Assembly Attach the console assembly with four 5 16 x 1 1 2 Bolts 5 and four 5 16 Star Washers 10 Start all four Bolts and then tighten each of them 8 Identify the Left Handrail 87 which is marked with a Left sticker Slide the Left Handrail be tween the console assembly and the pulse Console assembly i Assembly Pulse Assembly Attach the Left Handrail 87 with two 5 16 x 2 Bolts 4 a 5 16 x 3 3 4 Bolt 2 and three 5 16 Star Washers 10 as shown Start all three Bolts and then tighten each of them Attach the Right Handrail not shown to the console assembly as described above Firmly tighten the four 3 8 x 2 3 4 Bolts 7 and the four 3 8 x 1 1 4 Bolts 8 only one side is shown Press the Left Base Cover 92 and the Right Base Cover 93 onto the Base 97 until they snap in
11. power cord into a surge suppressor and plug the surge suppressor into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accor dance with all local codes and ordinances IMPORTANT The treadmill is not compatible with GFCl equipped outlets and may not be compatible with AFCI equipped outlets This product is for use on a nominal 120 volt circuit see drawing 1 A temporary adapter may be used to connect the surge suppressor to a 2 pole receptacle if a properly grounded outlet is not available see draw ing 2 Grounded Outlet Box Grounded Outlet Grounding Plug Grounded Outlet Box Surge Suppressor RA Grounding mo The temporary adapter should be used only until a properly grounded outlet see drawing 1 can be in stalled by a qualified electrician Metal Screw The green colored rigid ear lug or the like extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box cover The adapter must be held in place by a metal screw Some 2 pole receptacle outlet box covers are not grounded Contact a qualified electrician to deter mine if the outlet box cover is grounded before using an adapter 14 CONSOLE 1 STEP INCLINE DIAGRAM ISTEP SPEED FULL COLOR TOUCH SCREEN o od I o ey o 2500 o oc oo e o o ONBOARD WORKOUTS o o CALORIE BUR
12. step 6 on page 18 The displays at the top of the screen can show two pieces of information Press each display until the display shows the desired information Note The manual mode does not have a time remaining countdown If desired adjust the vol ume level by pressing the Volume increase and decrease buttons on the console Volume Decrease a Volume Increase To reset the console press the iFit Menu button in the upper right corner of the screen To pause the workout press the Pause button To continue the workout press the Resume button or the Start but ton To end the workout and select a new workout press the New Workout button To end the work out press the End Workout button Note The small wire less symbol in the upper right corner of the screen will show your wireless connection sta tus If the symbol is yel low your treadmill is connected to your wireless network If the symbol is green your treadmill is connected to your wire less network and you have logged in to www iFit com If the symbol does not appear your treadmill is not connected to your wireless network ARR T Measure your heart rate if desired Note If you use the handgrip pulse sensor and the chest pulse sensor at the same time the console will not display your heart rate accu rately For information about the chest pulse sen sor see page 13 Before using the handgrip pulse sensor remove the shee
13. the Reed Switch Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1 8 in 3 mm If neces sary loosen the 8 x 3 4 Tek Screw 13 move the Reed Switch slightly and then retighten the Screw Reattach the Motor Hood not shown with the five 8 x 3 4 Screws not shown and run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a correct speed reading PROBLEM The incline of the treadmill does not change correctly SOLUTION a Recalibrate the incline system see step 3 on page 25 PROBLEM The walking belt slows when walked on SOLUTION a Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 14 b If the walking belt is overtightened treadmill perfor mance may decrease and the walking belt may be come damaged Remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller bolts counterclockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is properly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in 5 to 7 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened Idler Roller Bolts c If the walking belt still slows when walked on see the front cover of
14. this manual 30 PROBLEM The walking belt is off center or slips when walked on SOLUTION a If the walking belt is off center first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the walking belt has shifted to the left use the hex key to turn the left idler roller bolt clockwise 1 2 of a turn if the walking belt has shifted to the right turn the left idler roller bolt counterclockwise 1 2 of a turn Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is centered b If the walking belt slips when walked on first re move the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller bolts clock wise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is cor rectly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in 5 to 7 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walk ing belt centered Then plug in the power cord in sert the key and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened PROBLEM The iFit Live mode does not function correctly SOLUTION a If the iFit Live mode is not functioning correctly make sure that the treadmill has the most current firmware available see step 8 on page 26 PROBLEM The treadmill will not connect to the wireless network SOLUTION a Perform a network test see step 6 on page 26
15. to the Base 97 with a 8 x 1 2 Ground Screw 9 Identify the Left Upright 89 which is marked with a Left sticker Have a second person hold the Left Upright near the Base 97 See the inset drawing Tie the wire tie in the Left Upright 89 securely around the end of the Upright Wire 84 Then pull the other end of the wire tie until the Upright Wire is routed com pletely through the Left Upright 4 Hold the Left Upright 89 against the Base 97 Be careful not to pinch the wires If nec essary position the Base Ground Wire 94 in the hole in the side of the Left Upright Insert two 3 8 x 2 3 4 Bolts 7 and two 3 8 x 1 1 4 Bolts 8 with two 3 8 Star Washers 12 into the Left Upright Partially tighten the 3 8 x 2 3 4 Bolts 7 and the 3 8 x 1 1 4 Bolts 8 until the heads of the Bolts touch the Left Upright 89 do not fully tighten the Bolts yet Note It may be helpful to use the Short Hex Key 63 on the Bolt shown Attach the Right Upright not shown in the same way Note There are no wires on the right side 5 Identify the Left Base Cover 92 and the Right Base Cover 93 Slide the Left Base Cover onto the Left Upright 89 Slide the Right Base Cover onto the Right Upright 90 Do not press the Base Covers into place yet 6 With the help of a second person hold the con sole assembly near the Left Upright 89 Connect the Upright Wire 84 to the console c i

17. 27 HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL To avoid damaging the treadmill adjust the incline Before moving the treadmill fold it as described at the to 0 percent before you fold the treadmill Then re left CAUTION Make sure that the latch knob is move the key and unplug the power cord CAUTION locked in the storage position Moving the tread You must be able to safely lift 45 Ibs 20 kg to mill may require two people raise lower or move the treadmill 1 Holdthe frame and one of the handrails and place 1 Holdthe frame firmly in the location shown by the one foot against a wheel arrow below CAUTION Bend your legs and keep your back straight 2 Raise the frame until the latch knob locks in the storage position CAUTION Make sure that the latch knob locks 2 Pull back on the handrail until the treadmill will roll on the wheels and carefully move it to the desired location CAUTION Do not move the treadmill without tipping it back do not pull on the frame and do not move the treadmill over an uneven surface 3 Place one foot against a wheel and carefully lower the treadmill HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1 See drawing 2 Hold the upper end of the treadmill frame with your right hand Pull the latch knob to the left if necessary push the frame forward slightly Pivot the frame downward a few inches and release the latch knob To protect the

22. admill will then automati cally adjust to the speed and or incline settings for the next segment The workout will continue in this way until the last segment ends The walking belt will then slow to a stop A workout summary will then appear on the screen After you view the workout summary press the Done button If the speed or incline setting is too high or too low at any time during the workout you can override the setting by pressing the Speed or Incline but tons however when the next segment begins the treadmill will automatically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment To stop the workout at any time press the iFit Menu button in the upper right corner of the screen To pause the workout press the Pause button To end the workout and select a new work out press the New Workout button To end the workout press the End Workout button To continue the workout press the Resume button or the Start button The walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph When the next segment of the workout begins the treadmill will automatically ad just to the speed and incline settings for the next segment Note The calorie goal is an estimate of the number of calories that you will burn during the 21 workout The actual number of calories that you burn will depend on your weight In addi tion if you manually change the speed or in cline of the treadmill during the workout the number of calories you bur

25. d is right side up Pull the sensor unit away from your body a few inches and locate the two electrode areas on the inner side the electrode areas are covered by shallow ridges Using saline solution such as saliva or contact lens so lution wet both electrode areas Return the sensor unit to a position against your chest CARE AND MAINTENANCE Thoroughly dry the chest pulse sensor after each use The chest pulse sensor is activated when the electrode areas are wetted and the chest pulse sen sor is put on the chest pulse sensor shuts off when it is removed and the electrode areas are dried If the chest pulse sensor is not dried after each use it may remain activated longer than necessary drain ing the battery prematurely Store the chest pulse sensor in a warm dry place Do not store the chest pulse sensor in a plastic bag or other container that may trap moisture Do not expose the chest pulse sensor to direct sunlight for extended periods of time do not expose it to temperatures above 122 F 50 C or below 14 F 10 C Do not excessively bend or stretch the sensor unit when using or storing the chest pulse sensor Clean the sensor unit using a damp cloth never use alcohol abrasives or chemicals The chest strap may be hand washed and air dried TROUBLESHOOTING The instructions on the following pages explain how the chest pulse sensor is used with the con sole If the chest pulse sensor do
26. es not function properly try the steps below Make sure that you are wearing the chest pulse sen sor as described at the left Note If the chest pulse sensor does not function when positioned as de scribed move it slightly lower or higher on your chest Use saline solution such as saliva or contact lens solution to wet the two electrode areas on the sensor unit If heart rate readings do not appear until you begin perspiring rewet the electrode areas As you walk or run on the treadmill position your self near the center of the walking belt For the console to display heart rate readings the user must be within arm s length of the console The chest pulse sensor is designed to work with people who have normal heart rhythms Heart rate reading problems may be caused by medical conditions such as premature ventricular contrac tions pvcs tachycardia bursts and arrhythmia The operation of the chest pulse sensor can be affected by magnetic interference caused by high power lines or other sources If it is suspected that this is a problem try relocating the treadmill 13 OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PRE LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high performance lubricant IMPORTANT Never apply sil icone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform Such substances will cause excessive wear HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD A DANGER Improper co

39. rd see page 14 Next locate the power switch on the treadmill frame near the power cord Make sure that the switch is in the reset position IMPORTANT The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is dis played in a store If the demo mode is turned on the displays show a preset presentation after you plug in the power cord and press the power switch into the reset position before you insert the key To turn off the demo mode see step 5 on page 24 Next stand on the walking platform of the treadmill Locate the clip attached to the key and slide the clip securely onto the waistband of your clothes Then insert the key into the con sole After a moment the displays will light IMPOR TANT In an emergency the key can be pulled from the console causing the walking belt to slow to a stop Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward if the key is not pulled from the console adjust the position of the clip Before using the treadmill please check for firmware updates see step 8 on page 26 Note The console may be able to display speed and distance in either miles or kilometers To find which unit of measurement is selected see step 4 on page 24 For simplicity all instructions in this manual refer to miles 16 HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE Insert the key into the console
40. rm up increases your body temperature heart rate and circulation in preparation for exercise Training Zone Exercise Exercise for 20 to 30 min utes with your heart rate in your training zone During the first few weeks of your exercise program do not keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise never hold your breath Cooling Down Finish with 5 to 10 minutes of stretch ing Stretching increases the flexibility of your muscles and helps to prevent post exercise problems EXERCISE FREQUENCY To maintain or improve your condition complete three workouts each week with at least one day of rest be tween workouts After a few months of regular exer cise you may complete up to five workouts each week if desired Remember the key to success is to make exercise a regular and enjoyable part of your everyday life SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right Move slowly as you stretch never bounce 1 Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times Stretches Hamstrings back of knees and back 2 Hamstring Stretch Sit with one leg extended Bring the sole of the opposite foot toward you and rest it against the inner thig
41. rt ing position This will recalibrate the incline system When the incline system is calibrated press the Finish button IMPORTANT Keep pets feet and other objects away from the treadmill while the incline is cali brating In an emergency pull the key from the console to stop the incline calibration Restore factory defaults If necessary press the Restore Defaults button to reset the firmware to the original factory firmware This will erase all firmware updates that you have downloaded Press the Begin button to restore the default firmware or the Cancel button to return to the maintenance mode When the restoration is complete the words PLEASE CYCLE POWER will appear in the grey box Press the power switch on the treadmill frame into the off position see page 5 Wait for several seconds and then press the power switch into the reset position It may take a minute for the console to be ready for use Calibrate the screen If the screen is not properly calibrated it will be dif ficult to press the buttons on the screen To cali brate the screen press the Calibrate Screen button and then press the Begin button Press the Cancel button to return to the maintenance mode Using a pencil eraser or other small object press the center of the small target on the screen Then press the next two targets After several seconds the console will exit the maintenance mode 6 Performa network test If desired press t
