3.  is  still in the    disengaged    position  and  manually raise the door until it is approx   50mm from the top stop position     Note the direction of rotation of CAM T     as you raise the door and adjust the  position of CAM    T    accordingly by  rotating it slightly to advance  or retard     the operation of the TOP limit switch  n  Bottom Top limit    Manually lower the door until the bottom limit switch switch  edge of door touches the ground  at its  highest point         Note the direction of rotation of CAM    B    as you lower the door and adjust the position  of CAM    B accordingly by rotating it slightly to advance  or retard  the operation of the  BOTTOM limit switch     Tighten the three retaining screws so that the cams will not move     Manually position door to halfway and re engage the motor drive by moving the  manual release lever  colour red  to the    engage    position  See Figure A      N B  Door can now only be operated electrically  not manually  If you wish to return to  manual operation  ensure power is switched off and move lever to    disengage    position     Switch on power to the control unit and operate door from    start    button on control unit   Door should travel upwards and fully open without striking the track stops     Press    start    button again and door should travel downwards and stop when it shuts   closing firmly but without reversing     If you are achieving these stop positions satisfactorily then switch off mains power 
4.  refit limit switch cover plate  then turn mains power back on     If stop positions are not satisfactory then turn off mains power  disengage the drive  and reset the limits by repeating steps 5   13     FAULT FINDING       DOOR WILL NOT OPERATE    A  Start button on control box      Check power is on to control unit  Red L E D illuminated    IF NOT  check mains plug and fuse         Plug fully engaged in bottom of control box        Motor wiring connections properly engaged        Manual release lever in    engaged    position   See Section 2       Move door manually to half closed position and try again         Try operation with remote control handset   B  On remote control      Check door operates correctly using the start button  to prove system is ok         Check battery in transmitter is correctly fitted   See Section 4       Try new battery         Extend aerial and try in different orientations  Keeping it away from steel  structures and electrical cables         Check transmitter is correctly coded into receiver  See section 5     DOOR OPERATES BUT FAILS TO FULLY OPEN OR REVERSES BEFORE  FULLY CLOSING        Check manual operation for correct balance  not binding  If badly out of balance  contact your garage door installer         Spray silicone lubricant into tracks  Do not grease       Check adjust safety sensitivity setting  See section 6      BANGS HARD ON TRACK STOPS WHEN FULLY OPEN      Check top limit switch setting  Adjust if necessary   see section 8

ANSMITTER  FOR USE WITH  TWIN OPERATORS        Turn power off and remove control cover to find three wires connecting the  receiver to the P C B  Black  Red and Green     Remove the green wire which is connected to J5  between the black and red  wires and replace it with the Orange wire  This swaps from the green button on  the transmitter to the black button  Tie back the Green wire  refit cover and turn    the power back on  By doing this 2 operators can be activated from one transmitter  one working from    the Factory set Green Button and the other from the Black Button     AERIAL  Thin Black   BLACK OV  RED   126  GREFR   Cie    ORANAN  CH 1    PROGRAMMING PUSH  BUTTON    RECEIVER UNIT     gt  lt             LL ARK     BLITTON    GRESN Les  Moa A         HAND TRANSMITTER    SAFETY SENSITIVITY ADJUSTMENT    SAFETY SENSITIVITY CHECK  Once a month check the correct functioning of the safety sensitivity system         To check sensitivity  operate door to close and try to stop it halfway  down using both hands   CAUTION _ The door should stop  when applying only medium force  and then  reverse to the fully open position       If the door fails to stop  or requires unduly heavy force to stop  then the  safety sensitivity must be adjusted     RED L E D     O    START STOP  Steel line doors    Increase Decrease  force force    Sensitivity  adjuster Front label  The sensitivity adjuster is situated in the lower recess to the left hand side of the  front label  see figure D  and

AUTOMATIC OPENER USER MANUAL FOR    Steel line doors    fis  E ARDALE       KA DPQORS  UNILIFT MEDIUM DUTY AAN  UNILIFT HEAVY DUTY P A    NOTE TO INSTALLER     This user manual is supplied for the instruction and safety of the end user     Please ensure this manual is left with the end user on completion of the installation  and after carrying out setting and safety checks       Thankyou for purchasing a Cardale Steel line garage door opener  This product will give  you many years of useful service provided it is used correctly and is properly maintained     THIS EQUIPMENT MUST BE USED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THESE  INSTRUCTIONS  FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS COULD  RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE INTEGRITY OF THE SAFETY CIRCUITS     IMPORTANT SAFETY RULES    The opener should be activated only when the door is in full view  free of  obstacles and correctly adjusted  Nobody should enter or leave the garage  while the door is moving  Children should NOT be allowed to play near    CAUTION the door     Never let children operate  or play with door controls  Keep remote control  away from children  Ensure push buttons are out of reach of children     Always keep a moving door in sight and away from people and objects  until it is completely closed  NO ONE SHOULD CROSS THE PATH OF A  MOVING DOOR     The safety reverse system test is very important  Your garage door must  reverse when obstructed on closing  Failure to properly adjust the operator  may result in serious personal injury fr
7. can be adjusted by using a small electrical screwdriver        Prior to setting sensitivity turn the adjuster fully CLOCKWISE     Operate door to close  If it stops and reverses before fully closing then adjust  sensitivity ANTI CLOCKWISE slightly to INCREASE force  Repeat until door  operates through full open close cycles without reversing     To set sensitivity operate door to close and try to stop it halfway down using both hands   The door should stop  when applying only medium force  and reverse to the fully  open position     If the door fails to stop or requires unduly heavy force to stop then adjust sensitivity  CLOCKWISE  slightly to REDUCE force  Repeat test until satisfactory sensitivty  is achieved     Check door still operates through full open close cycle  without reversing   and closes firmly     bo o OA BGE    N B  The courtesy light comes on at opening and closing and stays on for  approximately 3 minutes before turning off automatically     MAINTENANCE    a DOOR PANEL   Maintenance is not normally required but the following suggestions will keep the door   wens efficiently   Do not grease or oil tracks        Periodically clean the inside of the tracks with methylated spirits or similar and  spray with silicone spray or furniture polish        It may be necessary to lightly oil the lock mechanism via the key hole occasionally  if operation becomes difficult        Periodically wash the finished surface of the door with soap and water remembering  the area w
8. e courtesy lamp  mounted in the control box   is illuminated  This stays on for approx  3 minutes and goes off automatically     IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE    Only operate the door when the door is in full view  free of    obstacles with no persons  particularly children  near the door   Nobody should be allowed to enter or leave the garage whilst  the door is in motion        E If the door is obstructed whilst closing       The safety sensitivity circuit will activate and stop the door  The door will then  reverse to the fully open position     4   If the door is obstructed whilst opening       The safety sensitivity circuit will activate and stop the door       The door will stay in this position until it receives another command signal  it will  then go to fully closed position     5   When the door is closed using the automatic operator it is locked through the  motor drive       DO NOT USE KEYS TO LOCK DOOR     HOW TO USE THE MANUAL RELEASE    The manual release lever disengages  the motor drive from the door  and Manual release ENGAGED  allows the door to be opened and  RED    closed manually     It can be used in an emergency   power cuts etc  or when carrying  out checks and adjustments to door  operation     CAUTION  Only use it when the  POWER to the control has been turned  OFF and for safety only disengage  lever when door is closed  if possible     The manual release lever is situated  on the motor drive unit  See Figure A   usually on the same side of the garage  as 
9. e transmitter is not directional and does not have to be pointed at any sensors        It should work perfectly from within an enclosed car  you do not have to wind  down the windows     TRANSMITTER BATTERY       The hand transmitter is powered by a 12v alkaline battery  23A 12v  which should  last approx 1 year with normal use         f the operating range begins to decrease then the battery should be changed        Using a small    Philips    screwdriver carefully remove and retain the screw fixing on  the back   See Figure B         Prise apart the two halves and remove old battery        Replace with new battery ensuring correct way round        Re assemble covers     FRI SCREW POSITION CAUTION    DISPOSE OF OLD  BATTERY SAFELY AS  PER MANUFACTURERS  RECOMMENDATIONS       CHANGING THE SECURITY CODE    The radio remote control signal is protected with a rolling code system that has many  billions of combinations    All units are supplied with a factory set Hand Transmitter coded for use with the Green  button only     Programming Additional Transmitters   CAUTION     When programming additional transmitters ensure  that the door is free from obstruction  When programming a  transmitter the door will operate when the buttons are pressed     CAUTION We strongly recommend that the cable connecting the motor to    g     B     the control box is disconnected to eliminate any chance of  personal injury  The light on the control box will indicate whether  or not the hand transmit
10. hich is always exposed on the roll inside the garage when the door is closed     A CONTROL SYSTEM  PRPA courtesy lamp   Turn OFF mains supply to control unit       Remove lens cover on bottom face of control unit       Remove failed bulb by pushing in and twisting slightly to the left       Replace with 24v 10w bayonet fitting bulb       Refit lens cover and turn power back on     SETTING TOP AND BOTTOM LIMITS    Great care should be taken when attempting this adjustment as  you will be working from a step ladder and the limit switches  can be awkward to access    If in doubt contact your Steel line   installer     CAUTION  DISCONNECT ELECTRIC POWER TO  THE GARAGE DOOR OPERATOR  BEFORE STARTING THIS WORK   DANGER    m Ensure the door is fully closed and the electric POWER to the unit is switched OFF    2  Operate the manual release lever to disengage the drive  See section 2   Bl The limit switches are housed under a cover plate on the motor drive unit fixed to one    of the main door support brackets  See Figure A    Remove limit switch cover plate by carefully prising off with a small screw driver     SETTING TOP AND BOTTOM LIMITS  continued     Top limit cam    T    controls OPEN position  of door  Bottom limit cam    B    controls  CLOSED position of door  See Figure E      Retaining    N B  Only minor adjustments will be  necessary     Slightly loosen the three retaining screws  so that the cams can be easily moved   See Figure E      Ensure that the manual release lever
11. om a closing garage door  Repeat  the test once a month and make any needed adjustments  See Section 6      Safety Sensitivity adjustment     CAUTION  Do not use the force adjustments to compensate for a binding or sticking  garage door  Excessive force will interfere with the proper operation of the  Safety Reverse System or damage the garage door     Keep garage door balanced  Sticking or binding doors must be repaired   Garage doors  door springs  cables  pulleys  brackets  and their hardware  are under extreme tension and can cause serious personal injury  Do not  attempt adjustment  Call for professional garage door service     IMPORTANT SAFETY RULES CONTINUED        gt     DANGER     gt     CAUTION     gt     DANGER     gt     CAUTION    Installation and wiring must be in accordance with your local building  and electrical regulations    Any electrical work must be carried out by a suitably qualified person    if in doubt concult a qualified electrician    Use only the mains lead supplied with the operator    Connect the mains lead to an adjacent 13amp 3 pin socket  The plug  must be fitted with a 3 amp fuse    NOTE For optimum electrical safety this operator should be connected  to circuit protected by a R C D   max 30 mA trip rating      If your garage has no service entrance door then an exterior release  kit MUST be fitted  This accessory allows manual operation of the  garage door from outside in case of power failure     Disconnect electric power to the garage doo
12. r operator before making  repairs or removing covers     Use the manual release lever to disengage the motor drive ONLY  when the drive is switched OFF and  if possible  when the door is  fully closed     When pressing the hand transmitter buttons to reprogramme or  add additional transmitters the door will operate  Ensure that the  door is free from obstruction   See section 5      WARNING  The 4 way D I L  switch on the control unit  P C B has been factory set and sealed and MUST NOT  be tampered with  Failure to comply with this instruction  could result in a hazardous situation     IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE    Only operate the door when the door is in full view  free of    obstacles with no persons  particularly children  near the door   Nobody should be allowed to enter or leave the garage whilst  the door is in motion        HOW TO OPERATE YOUR STEEL LINE AUTOMATIC DOOR    A red L E D  situated to the LH side of the front label  indicates that power to  the unit is switched ON  and unit may be operated  This L E D will flash when  the motor is running     ia To open close from outside the garage       Use the remote control hand transmitter       Press the green button for approx 1 2 second       A red LED on the hand transmitter indicates that the signal is being sent     2   To open close from inside the garage       Use hand transmitter as in Section 1       Alternatively use the START STOP button on the front of the control box     NOTE  Whenever the unit is operated th
13. ter is working    Two methods of programming can be used      Programming using an active transmitter  Push both buttons on the transmitter for approximately 5 seconds  the receiver  will    bleep    indicating it is ready to learn transmitter codes  release buttons     Press the green button on the additional transmitter  the receiver    bleeps    to  confirm it has learnt the code  The receiver will not    bleep    if the transmitter code  has already been learnt   After about 10 seconds the receiver will    bleep    twice  to indicate the learning cycle is complete     Programming using the receiver   Turn off power and carefully remove the control cover and locate the receiver box  inside  Black box   then turn the power back on     Push and release the programming button  see diagram C   the receiver will     bleep    indicating it is ready to learn transmitter codes     Push the green button on the transmitter the receiver    bleeps    to confirm it has  learnt the code  Wait approximately 10 Seconds  the receiver will    bleep    twice  to indicate the learning cycle is complete     Repeat this operation for as many transmitters as you require     Erasing Memory     Deleting Learnt Transmitter Codes   Carefully remove the control cover and locate the receiver box    Push and hold the programming button for approximately 10 seconds  three  short    bleeps    will be heard confirming all the transmitter codes in memory  have been erased     PROGRAMMING BLACK BUTTON ON TR
14. the control unit      The lever is coloured red and has a  pull cord handle attached to assist    in operation  DISENGAGED Limit switch    cover plate  To disengage the power drive  pull the    lever cord downwards  This will enable  the door to be operated manually        To re engage the drive     Ensure power to control unit is switched OFF   Manually open door to mid way position   Push manual release lever  See Figure A  upwards to engage drive     Turn mains power on and operate door     IMPORTANT NOTE   If your garage has no service door then an exterior release kit    part No AZAR 2004  must be fitted  This accessory allows manual  operation of the garage door from outside in case of an emergency     IN THE EVENT OF POWER CUTS    If the garage door remains unused during the power cut  you have to do nothing   The control unit will automatically reset itself when the power comes back on     If you have to use the garage door then the manual release lever can be utilised to  give manual operation  See Section 2 for details     Turn off mains power to the control unit when in manual mode     Re engage motor drive when mains power is restored  See Section 2  for details     CAUTION  IMPORTANT NOTE    When using the door in manual mode you should lock unlock the  door with the key to maintain security     REMOTE CONTROL    OPERATION OF HAND TRANSMITTER  Press the Green button for approx 1 2 sec  the red L E D on the transmitter  indicates the signal is being sent        Th
