You will be able to remove the device to perform downloads Please Note Some vehicles including Renault Citroen and Peugeot may come with a Heat Reflective Metal Oxide Athermic or Comfort windscreen which may affect the performance of the built in GPS antenna If you are unsure what type of windscreen is fitted to your vehicle then contact your local vehicle dealer or manufacturer for further information In these situations you will need to purchase an extension GPS antenna which can be positioned either on the rear parcel shelf or outside the cabin of the vehicle Call 0870 787 0700 and select Option 2 for further details PLEASE NOTE Be careful to choose a location that does not block the drivers view or where it might endanger the driver or passengers should your vehicle suddenly come to a stop or be involved in an accident DO NOT leave the unit in view when the car is stationary during hot conditions Exposing the Sapphire Plus to extremely high temperatures can temporarily impair performance Keep the Sapphire Plus out of sight when not in use to help avoid potential theft Installing your Sapphire Plus using the Windscreen Suction Cup bracket You can mount your Sapphire Plus to the inside of your vehicles A A _ windscreen using the suction cup windscreen bracket provided e Clean the area where you wish to position the bracket thoroughly with a good quality glass cleaner This allows a more s

SD Card Once the synchronisation is completed the micro SD Card will not function with any other device Your Sapphire Plus is now ready to navigate and the camera database can be downloaded if necessary SD Card Please note that if the unit does not activate when you press and hold the standby power button for 2 seconds it may require charging Refer to the section on Power Connection and Charging later in this manual System Requirements and Downloading Before you can begin to download the database onto your Sapphire Plus you will need to install the Sapphire Plus Updater software provided on the CD ROM In order for the software to be installed successfully there are certain minimum hardware and software requirements needed Hardware Requirements The computer must have an Intel Pentium Class processor or equivalent a minimum of 32MB of RAM a monitor with 256 8 bit colours or greater a CD ROM drive 20MB of free disc space and a spare USB connection Software Requirements The software will only operate on the following Windows based operating systems Windows 2000 Windows XP or Windows Vista and will only work with Internet Explorer 6 or Netscape Navigator 6 or above NOTE The Sapphire Plus Updater software does not support Windows 95 98 or Apple Macintosh operating systems Software Installation Instructions Place the Software CD into the CD ROM or DVD drive Your PC should automatically open a window displayi
11. contents sappnire 9 Downloading the Enigma Camera Database Please Note You must register your Sapphire Plus before you can perform a download Performing a download is simple 1 Switch on the Sapphire Plus by pressing and holding the power On Off EEE Button button for 2 seconds Connect the computer to the Internet Double left click the Sapphire Plus icon located on your desktop Left click Menu and then left click Download Seittings an A O N Select the files you wish to download UK Cameras is selected by default Once you have selected the files you wish to download left click the OK button 6 Connect one end of the USB lead to your computer and plug the other end of the lead into the Sapphire Plus in the socket marked USB on the underside of the unit 7 On the screen of the Sapphire Plus select Micro SD in the bottom right hand corner of the display and wait for the serial number to be displayed on the software 8 When prompted click Go to start the download The Sapphire Plus software will then start to download the database files that you have selected onto your unit The download process is as follows Connect the USB lead to your Sapphire Plus e The software will connect to our database server and download the database e Once the data has been downloaded the Sapphire Plus will then save the data received e The software will indicate
12. have received an error message please read through the following ERROR MESSAGE Initialisation Error or Error 429 Active X Cannot Create Object If the Sapphire Plus Updater program results in either of the above error messages and you are up to date with your Windows Critical Updates and Service Packs then you may need to install Windows Script 5 6 for Windows 2000 and XP from Microsoft which isn t included in the Windows Update Website naz k Open up your internet browser and go to the Microsoft website Type Windows Script 5 6 in the search field located in the top right hand corner of the page The first result will provide a link that will allow you to download the software patch Once downloaded you will need to install it 2 ERROR MESSAGE The device has not been enabled yet Please refer to Step 1 in section A for further details 3 ERROR MESSAGE There was a problem connecting to the Performance Products server If you get an error message as described above this normally means that there is something blocking communication between the software most typically a firewall and the Enigma server Windows XP is supplied with a built in Internet Connection Firewall Depending upon which Service Pack you have for this operating system you will need to access the firewall settings and allow access for the software We recommend updating to Service Pack 2 as this will allow easier configuration Please re

14. is only achieved after two or three complete charges and discharges sa hire Return to contents P P PLUS Powering the Sapphire Plus using the built in battery Once Sapphire Plus is fully charged it is ready for use Press and hold the standby power switch on the top of the unit for 2 seconds to switch on the device On Off If you wish to put the unit into standby press the standby power switch briefly Press the standby power switch briefly again to reactivate the unit from standby Unit Lock Facility To avoid accidentally changing any settings on the unit or switching the unit off whilst in use you have a unit lock button situated on the left hand side of the unit and is identified by a padlock symbol When the button is pushed downwards Be the unit is locked and no controls can be operated To use the units touch screen a A and controls move the button upwards into the unlock position Unit Lock Switch Low Battery Warning If the Sapphire Plus is powered from the internal battery and the Battery Low Please Recharge warning is displayed on the screen the unit has approximately 20 to 30 minutes of battery power remaining You should either connect the cigarette lighter adaptor lead to the unit whilst in the vehicle or recharge the battery from a PC using the USB lead Operating Instructions 1 Starting Up Once you have synchronised the micro SD Card and performed a download Information as necessary

18. potential accident black spot 2 To cancel an alert press the camera alert section of the screen the denotes that the alert has xara Miles Le been muted N MANOR PARK 9 2 Risk Zones The alert for a Risk Zone is the same as the Fixed Camera Alert 9 3 SPECs Safety Camera Systems SPECS START Due to the fact that the SPECs camera incorporates a series of cameras that monitor a vehicles average speed over a fixed distance a different alert pattern has been devised to ensure that your concentration is maintained throughout the danger zone When approaching the first camera in the SPECs system your Sapphire Plus will begin to alert you at approximately 700 yards with a display indicating SPECS START and emitting an audible alert The display will indicate the speed limit at this point and then count down the remaining distance to the location of the camera The unit will then emit an audible alert and flash SPECS every few seconds to remind you that you are still within the SPECS system The Sapphire will indicate the end of the SPEC s sequence by displaying SPECS END and emitting an audible alert If after thirty seconds you do not pass another camera for instance if you have turned off the road without passing the last camera in the SPEC s sequence the warning will no longer be displayed Please Note If you join a road in the middle of a SPECs series you will automatically get a visual and audible

21. that the download is complete and will instruct you to disconnect the Sapphire Plus from your PC You only need to do these steps if you wish to change the data that is downloaded onto the Sapphire Plus If you want the download settings to be the same as the previous download ignore these two steps If you have a Firewall on your computer the Firewall software may inform you that the Sapphire Plus Updater software is trying to access the internet Please make sure that you grant allow permit access to the Sapphire Plus Updater program through the Firewall Please read the messages supplied by your Firewall software carefully before choosing your option If you do not allow the program to access the internet through the Firewall the download process will fail Please note Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista come with a built in firewall as standard Return to contents sapphire 10 Installing your Sapphire Plus The Sapphire Plus comes with a windscreen suction cup bracket so that the unit can be mounted on your vehicles windscreen When installing your Sapphire Plus please ensure that e The unit with its built in GPS antenna has a clear view of the sky e t is located in a position where you can easily view the LCD display without having to take your eyes too far from the road ahead and that you can reach the controls safely Does not interfere with the vehicles controls e Does not jeopardise the drivers or passengers safety

51. le or the vehicles electrical system 1 Grasp the ring near the tip of the cigarette lighter plug and then carefully unscrew the ring by turning it counter clockwise Caution If you must use pliers to loosen the ring be careful not to crush the tip Never use pliers or other tools to retighten the ring on the cigarette lighter plug 2 Pull the ring straight out then remove the metal tip and old fuse 3 Check the fuse to see if it has blown If it has replace it 4 Replace the metal tip inside the ring then place the fuse inside the cigarette lighter plug and screw the ring back onto the plug Make sure the metal tip is visible when you reassemble the cigarette lighter plug Charging the internal battery Although the Sapphire Plus can be charged using the cigarette lighter in your vehicle you are also able to charge the unit by using the USB lead connected to your PC When new the battery in your Sapphire Plus is approximately 20 charged Plug the charger cable into the socket on the base of the Sapphire Plus To charge the unit fully connect the USB lead to the PC and the Sapphire Plus as indicated in the picture on the right The battery light on the Sapphire Plus will illuminate and will take approximately 3 hours to charge When the internal battery is fully charged the red LED will turn green Once fully charged the battery will last approximately 3 hrs during normal use Note The new battery s full performance
