The green light will illuminate and will remain on during the security programming sequence max 5 minutes 2 Now using the same pointed object press the recessed buttonon the side of the Extension Unit while it is plugged in The green light on the front of the Extension Unit will flash once This is your notification that the programming for Extension is complete TIP You can program extra Extension Units near to the Base Unit so that you don t have to run around the house Once an Extension Unit is programmed it can be unplugged and plugged in elsewhere in the home Note If the green LED is flashing repeatedly your base unit is not in programming mode You will need to go back to Step One To program additional Extensions to the same Base Unit at a later date you will have to program all Extension Units as a different security code is chosen each time The programming sequence allows five minutes in total to program all Extension Units 3 Once all Extension Units have been programmed and installed it is wise to check the dial tone at each unit one at a ime using a phone Note the unit should only be operated within a household environment The units must not be operated within 30cms of each other Operation of the units near airfield military installations or installations related to Spacee or Astronomical research should be avoided Most difficulties associated with the EasyJack System are due to improper installation If the

BASY IINCIK a A SYV Users JACK Manual 1 Plug the base unit into an electrical socket Phone and connect to the master phone socket atir Piane BANE using a phone cord and adaptor supplied Socket aae 2 Plug the extension unit into an electrical socket near where you need the phone fax set top box etc 3 If necessary set the security code by pressing the button on the side of the units 4 Connect the phone fax or set top box to the extension unit using the adaptor supplied 7 Fax or S aee Ta Mid Moden f Cordless Do not attempt to plug in your EasyJack until you have read this owners manual Do not plug the EasyJack into socket strips or surge protectors The EasyJack Extension does not operate during a power outage The EasyJack System can only be used on a single incoming phone line Be sure to plug Base Unit in first before the Extension Unit If you cannot get a dial tone unplug both EasyJack units and reset them folowing the instructions in the Trouble Shooting section It is very important that directions are followed in order In the event of a problem unplug both units remove all cords and start again The socket outlet should be installed near the equipment and should be easily accessible Equipment connected to the base and extension unit must be approved for connection to the telephone network to which it is attached Not suitable for use with PBX s The EasyJack system is compatible w

4. steps below do not solve your difficulty remove both units from the electrical outlets remove all cords and re install making sure to closely follow instructions on the previous pages Your situation system location characteristics of the home office can in some instances affect performance and occasional interference may be experienced Some static buzzing or humming at certain locations within the operating area is possible However if you experience unusual levels of noise follow the trouble shooting actions below PROBLEM ACTION No dial tone Check connections ensure mains sockets are switched on try new cords move base and or extention Repeat the security programming starting with Step One Static Interference Move base and or extension halogen lamps light dimmers touch lamps and computer socket strips can cause some static Can not dial out Decrease distance between units If problems continue contact customer service at support easyplug co za Does not ring Decrease distance between units If problems continue contact customer service at support easyplug co za Extension Beeps Repeat the Security Programming starting with Step One The following list of situations is provided to inform you of things that you may encounter when using the system It is intended to help you get the best performance possible Power Outages Only the telephone plugged into the master socket operates during a power outage Two Line Phone
5. ith V 90 modems and optimized for V 34 modems Do not use the EasyJack in a location where it could be splashed with water System Contents Base Unit The Base Unit has two RJ11 telephone sockets on the bottom and is marked BASE A two metre cord and a 2 way adaptor is included to connect the Base Unit to the Master Phone Socket The green indicator light is on the front of the unit Extention Unit The Extention Unit has two RJ11 sockets at the bottom and is marked Extension An adapter is included to connect a single terminal phone fax modem etc to the Extension Unit A green indicator light is on the front of the unit The EasyJack allows voice and data communication over the powerline The EasyJack provides a telephone outlet wherever there is a Power Outlet All extra cables and adapters are to support a connection to the unit Notes 1 The EasyJack System does not work during a power outage therefore it is important to have at least one phone connected to the master phone socket via the 2 way adaptor This phone will still work with the power off 2 To ensure proper performance it is important to install the Base Unit FIRST 3 Ensure the unit is securely plugged in and the mains is turned on 4 The EasyJack does not work through surge protection devices Follow the steps below to install the EasyJack Installing the Base Unit 1 Plug one end of the two metre cable supplied into either of the sockets on the bottom
6. of the Base Unit Plug the other end into the 2 way adapter provided Now plug the 2 way adaptor into the master phone socket 2 Plug the Base Unit into the closest electrical socket and ensure the main socket is switched on Plug your primary phone into the 2 way adaptor that is now plugged into the master phone socket Installing the Extention 3 Plug the single adaptor it has a short lenth of cable into either of the sockets on the bottom of the Extension Unit and then plug the phone fax modem set top box etc into the socket at the end of the adaptor If your equipment has an RJ11 plug simply plug directly into one of the sockets on the base of the unit 4 Plug the Extension Unit into any electrical socket and ensure the mains socket is turned on TIP It is useful to plug a phone in at this stage just to check for dial tone before plugging in the phone fax modem set topbox etc The units have now been installed using the four steps above If you bought the Base and Extension unit in a sigle pack the security programming will have been setup and the units matched to each other at the factory If you are adding another Extension Unit you will have to run through the security set up procedure as below Security Programminng Follow the easy steps below to set the security feature for the units 1 While the Base Unit is plugged in press the recessed button on the side of the unit using a small pointed object such as a ball point pen
