When the dipstick is rested on the filler pipe l e not screwed in place the oil lever must be between the Min and Max marks on the dipstick Do not overfill amp Start the engine and allow it to run briefly Stop the engine wait one minute and check the oil level Top up if necessary SPARK PLUG see pic 9 Once the engine has cooled remove the spark plug using the box spanner supplied clean the plug with a wire brush Using a feeler gauge set the gap to 0 75 mm 0 030 Refit the spark plug taking care not to over tighten AIR FILTER see pic 11 Unclip the air filter cover and remove the sponge filter element To avoid objects falling into the air intake replace the air filter cover DRAINING THE FUEL TANK AND CARBURETOR see pic 10 1 Place an approved gasoline container below the carburetor and use a funnel to avoid spilling fuel 2 Remove the drain bolt and then move the fuel valve lever to the ON position 3 After all the fuel has drained into the container reinstall the drain bolt and washer Tighten the drain bolt securely STORAGE The same petrol must not remain in the tank for more than one month Thoroughly clean the mower and store it indoors in a dry place THE ENVIRONMENT In order to protect the environment we recommend that the following points should be given special considera tion Always use pure unleaded petrol Always use a funnel and or petrol can with a level control to avoid spillage

E AND STORAGE MAINTENANCE CA Note Regular careful maintenance is essential for keeping the safety level and original performance of the machine unchanged in time Keep all nuts bolts and screws tight to be sure the equipment is in safe working condition Regular mainte nance is essential for safety and performance Never store the equipment with fuel in the tank inside a building where vapour may reach a flame or a spark or a source of extreme heat Allow the engine to cool before storing in an enclosed space To reduce the fire hazard keep the engine exhaust silencer battery compartment and fuel storage area free of grass leaves or excessive grease Do not leave containers with grass cuttings in rooms 5 Replace worn or damaged parts for safety reasons do not use the equipment with worn or damaged parts Parts are to be replaced and not repaired Use genuine spare parts blades should always bear the symbol Parts that are not of the same quality can damage the equipment and be dangerous for your safety If the fuel tank has to be drained this should be done outdoors and when the engine is cool Wear strong work gloves when removing and reassembling the blade Check the blade s balance after sharpening S Check the self closing guard and grass catcher frequently for wear and deterioration Whenever the machine is to be handled transported or tilted you must wear strong working gloves grasp the machine

9. best for most lawns BEFORE STARTING ENGINE ADD OIL Your lawnmower is shipped without oil in the engine Before each subsequent use the oil level must be check and ifnecessary topped up with500mI SAE30 15W 40 engine oil For type and grade of oil fo use see ENGINE in the Maintenance section of this manual N ATTENTION Do not overfill engine with oil or it will smoke heavily from the muffler on startup 1 Be sure lawnmower is level 2 Remove oil dipstick from oil fill spout 3 Insert and tighten dipstick 4 Check oil level before each use Add oil if needed 5 Fill fo full line on dipstick 6 Change the oil after every 25 hours of operation or each season 7 You may need to change the oil more often under dusty dirty conditions See TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL in the Maintenance section of this manual Q Note Check oil level before each use FIELDMANN Home amp Garden Performa ADD GASOLINE see pic 7 Fill fuel tank to bottom of tank filler neck Do not overfill Use fresh clean regular unleaded gasoline Do not mix oil with gasoline Recommendation Purchase fuel in quantities that can be used within 30 days to assure fuel fresh ATTENTION Wipe off any spilled oil or fuel Do not store spill or use gasoline near an open flame CA Note Alcohol blended fuels called gasohol or using ethanol or methane can attract moisture which leads to separation and for motion of acids during s

12. eep terrain Be very careful in steep terrain there is a danger of slipping and injuring yourself When changing the mowing direction proceed always crosswise never vertically up and down Do not use the lawnmower on slopes exceeding 15 Do not lift the lawnmower when starting the motor Never place your hands or feet under the rotating parts Maintain a sufficient distance from the expulsion opening During operation never pull it towards yourself but always only push forward Do not expose the lawnmower to rain Do not mow wet or very damp grass During work ensure you have a safe stance Lead the machine only at walking speed During operation i e when the motor is turned on never lift carry or tilt from the mowed terrain there is a danger of injury Before lifting the lawnmower for transportation reasons turn off the motor and wait until the blade has come to a complete stop amp Ifitis necessary to tilt the lawnmower for transportation reasons when travelling over areas that are not grass and when transporting the lawnmower to the work position and back turn off the motor When starting the motor do not tilt the lawnmower if it is not necessary to lift the mower when advancing for ward In such a case tilt it only to the extent necessary and lift it on the side more distant from the user Turn off the motor when leaving a lawn area Only store and use the product away from ammable or volatile materi
