10. e Streetlight General Use Guide es ee INTELLIGENCE Data Synchronization may take several minutes The status of Central s synchronization is displayed in a status area just below the Sync with Central button K T Synchronize with Central P Figure 17 Synchronize with Central Status Area 3 3 3 Software Updates The user should check for software updates at least once per week and when notified by Streetlight Intelligence of an available software upgrade To execute this function a connection must first be established through Active Sync To update software 1 On the Commander Handheld start the Commander application by selecting the Start Menu gt Commander 2 Select Commands gt Check for Software Update This will update the software This command should be run at least once per week and when notified by Streetlight Intellivence of an available software upgrade 4 Communications Between Commander Handheld and Gateway When changing Commander Handheld and Gateway pairings or if communications Is lost establish communications between the Commander Handheld through a specific Commander Gateway by performing the following steps 1 If the Commander Handheld or Gateway are new ensure Commander Handheld has been synchronized with Central so that it has the latest configuration which includes the list of Commander Gateways configured for your system Refer to Section 3 above 2 Ensure the Gateway is powered

12. ilt in Optical Scanner that is used to read barcodes The Optical Scanner is located on the top of the device The scanner is activated by pressing the lower blue button on the left side of the device or large blue button in the top row of the front keypad Duplication Prohibited Without License From Streetlight Intelligence Inc Lumen IQ Commander Field Service Module Streetlight General Use Guide Se ZAR INTELLIGENCE Optical Scanner Activation Button Figure 12 Barcode Scanner Functionality The barcode scanner is used to scan the Luminaire ID and Controller ID during installation and maintenance Although the scanner has 2 0 Megapixel resolution the scan interpretation is still very dependent on the quality of the scan label As a backup the Luminaire and Controller IDs may be entered manually using the keyboard To use the Scanner e Point the scanner window a few inches from the bar code label and hold steady e Press the Scan button and center the red aiming beam over the bar code label The aiming beam is smaller when the scanner is closer to the bar code and larger when it is further away For best results position the scanner as close and as perpendicular to the bar code as possible while still being able to capture the entire bar code with the aiming beam 3 The Commander Application 3 1 Starting the Application The first time the Commander software is started the Commander Handheld must be able to

19. ritten characters to typed characters 2 EB al spe 4W Tap for assistance b gt i Figure 10 Scroll and Tab Keys Refer to the Intermec website www intermec com for complete CN3 documentation 2 5 Using the GPS The Commander Handheld device has an onboard GPS module The accuracy varies from 3 meters to 25m Best results are achieved when there is good satellite coverage more satellites in better range GPS receiver is stationary and the readings are measured over a period of several minutes Because GPS satellites are in motion as well as going out of or coming into view the GPS values are constantly recalculated even if the receiver is stationary This means the accuracy will constantly be changing 2 5 1 Acquiring GPS Reading Ensure the GPS settings are set as described in Appendix A After reboot or exiting suspend mode the device may take several minutes to acquire a GPS reading Generally this may take only a few minutes but allow for up to 15 minutes lf there is no GPS reading after 15 minutes check the Intermec GPS settings refer to Appendix A If the settings are correct exit Commander and execute a soft reset by pressing and holding the power button 2 5 2 Capturing a GPS Reading The onboard GPS can be used to capture the GPS location of poles as part of a pre installation survey or during the installation If the pole locations are captured prior then Central can be used to assign work on specific p
