Encryption Encryption is the conversion of data into a secret code based on an established rule The process of creating this data is termed encryption and the process of returning the encrypted data to the original condition is called decryption If a cryptographic rule is made public everybody who knows the rule can decipher the content of the data To avoid this the rule must be changed with each encryption A cryptographic key is used for this purpose You cannot encrypt data or decode it without a cryptographic key There are two encryption systems that use cryptographic keys shared key encryption and public key encryption Ad Hoc Mode An ad hoc network mode is an isolated special network mode in which data are exchanged directly among two or three wireless LAN devices When communication is on a one to one basis the mode is called peer to peer Infrastructure Mode This is a network mode in which data is exchanged between devices connected to a LAN Local Area Network via wireless LAN access points Channel Channels are single portions of a radio frequency band which can be used with a wireless LAN The band is subdivided into 14 divisions or 11 divisions called channels Wireless LAN In the LAN connections of a wireless LAN the wireless LAN comprises wireless LAN cards that are installed in each of the PCs and wireless LAN access points which are the other party for exchanged radio waves Wireless LAN access point This

14. in the Use of Wireless LAN Cards A radio station license is not required for using a wireless LAN card however the card should be used in conjunc tion with a solid understanding of the following matters e Do not use in the vicinity of other wireless equipment The equipment mentioned below might use the same radio wave band as the wireless LAN card Using a wireless LAN card in the vicinity of such equipment may result in a loss of data communication due to radio interference or a decrease in communication speed Microwave ovens Industrial scientific and medical equipment Local radio stations used for mobile identification in factory production lines Special low power radio stations OG Try to avoid using cellular phones TV and radio in the vicinity of wireless LAN cards Cellular phones TV radio and other equipment use a different radio wave band than wireless LAN cards and as such there will not be an adverse effect on wireless LAN card communications or the sending and receiving operation of such equipment however the radio waves from the wireless LAN card may cause noise to appear on the audio or video Ge The radio waves of wireless LAN cards are blocked by reinforced concrete metal and concrete block Radio waves will pass through walls and floors made of wood and glass with the exception of glass having an embedded metal mesh to permit communication however they will not pass through walls and floors made

16. of LAN cable to exchange information between a PC and a wireless access point thereby providing the benefit of unhindered LAN connections within the range of the wireless LAN radio waves On the other hand radio waves propagate everywhere beyond obstacles such as walls within a certain range giving rise to risks such as those described below when security settings have not been made e Unauthorized viewing of your data by third parties It is possible that an ill willed third party could deliberately intercept the radio waves of the wireless LAN and view personal infor mation such as your ID password credit card number and email message content e Intrusion Ill willed third parties could gain unauthorized access to your personal network or company intranet and take your personal information or secret information i e an information leak send false information under the guise of a particular individual i e identity theft alter the content of intercepted messages i e falsification introduce computer viruses to destroy your data and or network system i e data destruction and commit other malicious acts Wireless LAN cards and wireless access points are typically provided with security provisions against these problems which reduces the likeliness of such problems developing provided that the security settings of the wireless LAN product have been performed Keeping in mind the problems that can arise when security settings h

41. n make presentations without carrying a PC by storing slides an SD memory card or on a USB flash memory device There is an automatic slide play and repeat function that is convenient for use in stores When looking for a certain slide a thumbnail display mode directory display mode al lows the desired slide to be selected and displayed with a simple operation SD memory cards holding digital camera photographs can also be played JPEG BMP and PNG formats only ll Terminology used with Image Viewer DISS PS A group of image files are called slides CN A case that contains gathered slides is called a folder A folder that contains gathered folders is called a master folder and may also be used to distinguish between folders Image Viewer screen A screen that has been switched to Viewer input is called an Image Viewer screen Removable media Refers to SD memory cards or USB flash memory devices 16 Presentation Procedure Follow the steps below to make presentations using the Image Viewer function 1 Create presentation images on your PC and store them on removable media See Page 18 e nsert an SD memory card into the SD card slot of the PC If the PC does not have an SD card slot a commercially available SD card adapter is required e Use of a commercially available USB type SD memory card reader writer will permit presentation images i e slides to be recorded f
42. nd received approval for it as an international standard specification IP address This is a numeric address assigned to a computer network part of the Internet Protocol IP In the exchange of data data is sent to the address of the sender and data is received by the originator from the sender It is for this reason that an individual IP address is necessary to identify each PC that is connected by a network TCP IP Transmission Control Protocol Internet Protocol This is a communication protocol and control system that is used to reliably send communications data over a network A TCP header is added to the data IP packets are added and a MAC frame is further added and data is sent out over the network The receiving side verifies the other party and fetches the data using the process in reverse USB Universal Serial Bus This is one serial interface standard that is used to connect a computer with peripheral devices such as a keyboard mouse memory printer etc If a device is plugged into a USB connector with power being supplied to the PC the device can be used right away because of USB support for plug and play WEP Wired Equivalent Privacy WEP is an encryption method specified in the IEEE 802 11 wireless LAN standard The setting of WEP protects data from being deciphered even when the radio waves are intercepted by a third party as long as the code is not decoded and it also prevents against intrusion into a wireless LAN
