20. order of matching steps in Stage 3 can be manipulated such that a matching Contact will be found before a matching Lead if the same person exists as a Lead and a Contact but the decision will need to be made as to which one should be updated which will be the one it finds first e Similarly if the same Lead or Contact exists multiple times more rigid matching steps can be executed before looser steps to find the better match o However if the SAME Lead Contact exists multiple times in Salesforce and all the fields would match in the SAME Step the first record Salesforce returns to Peoplel mport will be the record that is updated and there is no rhyme or reason as to which one Salesforce will return within a single step The CRMfusion DemandTools application can be used to clean up existing duplicates with the Salesforce Database More information regarding DemandTools can be found on our website www crmfusion com demandtools Prepping the I nput File 1 Dedupe the I ncoming Spreadsheet Peoplel mport will look for duplicates matching the input data to the records that currently exist in Salesforce but WILL NOT dedupe records WITHIN the spreadsheet so it is important to ensure that the input file is free of duplicates to avoid creating duplicate NEW Leads or Contacts For example if Melanie Jackson is in the input file 3 times and she DOES NOT match to any existing Leads or Contacts then 3 Melanie Jackson records will be created as eit
