USER GUIDE DM Engineering Studio Hotline Phone Flasher and Door Announcer Version 1 1 DM Engineering 2174 Chandler St Camarillo CA 91345 4611 805 987 7881 800 249 0487 www DMEngineering com Overview The Studio HOT LINE is a Phone Flasher that is specifically designed to address the needs of the broadcaster It incorporates many of the features that heretofore required several different devices to notify studio personnel of ringing phones and people at the door ringing the bell Features include Microprocessor based circuitry for ultimate reliability and no lock ups Multiple Ultra Brite LED s used for indicators no bulbs to fail or replace Distinctive color visual indicators for both phone and door indication Distinctive audible signals for both phone and door indication 3 position audible control switch OFF LOW HIGH Remotely mutable control for audible signals contact closure or TTL low to mute Door input indicator and audible control by contact closure or TTL low to activate Distinctive DC output voltages for driving the DME Solid State Relay Pack or customers own SSR for turning on high wattage incandescent lamps for both phone and door indication Terminal block with screw connections are used for external I O control for ease of wiring Small size 5 75 x 2 6 x 1 1 You can mount it almost anywhere with screws or supplied Velcro Operation 1 2 The Studio Hot Line is an indicating device
3. for either telephone ringing or door announcing Upon connection to the supplied power supply a normal telco line one that supplies ringing voltage of at least 7OVAC 20 60Hz the unit will indicate by flashing multiple yellow ultra brite LED s and a distinctive audible ring pattern that may be turned off or set to low or high volume The door announcer input uses either a contact closure or a TTL low to activate multiple ultra brite red LED s and a distinctive ding dong ring pattern As is with the phone audible this audible is controlled by the common off low high switch and external mute control External incandescent lamps may be operated using the SSR output of the Hot Line The output is a current limited 5VDC drive voltage that follows the pattern of the LED s and is compatible with the DME Studio Solid State Relay Pack or most SSR s available in the marketplace Installation 1 ON Connect the DC input line from the power supply to the 9 12VDC connector on the Hot Line Note Polarity is not a factor as the unit is designed with Polarity Guard circuitry It will even accept 9 15VAC Connect the power supply to any available AC receptacle Connect the RJ11 modular connector to the telephone jack 4 Connect the Door input to a door bell button or wireless door bell receiver that has been modified to give a TTL low when rung The left most terminal is positive polarity for TTL applications Do not connect
