Securing Child Restraints RearSeat 3 2 Seats and Restraints Head Restraints Front Seats The vehicle s front seats have adjustable head restraints in the outboard seating positions With head restraints that are not installed and adjusted properly there is a greater chance that occupants will suffer a neck spinal injury in a crash Do not drive until the head restraints for all occupants are installed and adjusted properly Adjust the head restraint so that the top of the restraint is at the same height as the top of the occupant s head This position reduces the chance of a neck injury in a crash The height of the head restraint can be adjusted Pull the head restraint up to raise it Try to move the head restraint to make sure that it is locked in place To lower the head restraint press the button located on the top of the seatback and push the restraint down Try to move the head restraint after the button is released to make sure that it is locked in place On some models the head restraints adjust forward and rearward To adjust the head restraint forward grasp the head restraint and pull forward to the desired locking position To adjust the head restraint rearward grasp the head restraint and pull forward fully until the mechanism releases and allows the head restraint to return to the full rear position The front seat outboard head restraints are

Move the shift lever into the P Park position by pulling the shift lever toward you and moving it up as far as it will go Be sure the transfer case if equipped is in a drive gear not in N Neutral Turn the ignition key to LOCK OFF Remove the key and take it with you If you can leave the vehicle with the ignition key in your hand the vehicle is in P Park Leaving the Vehicle with the Engine Running It can be dangerous to leave the vehicle with the engine running The vehicle could move suddenly if the shift lever is not fully in P Park with the parking brake firmly set If you have four wheel drive and the transfer case is in N Neutral the vehicle will be free to roll even if the shift lever is in P Park So be sure the transfer case is in a drive gear not in N Neutral And if you leave the vehicle with the engine running it could overheat and even catch fire You or others could be injured Do not leave the vehicle with the engine running unless you have to Driving and Operating If you have to leave the vehicle with the engine running be sure the vehicle is in P Park and the parking brake is firmly set before you leave it After you move the shift lever into P Park hold the regular brake pedal down Then see if you can move the shift lever away from P Park without first pulling it toward you If you can it means that the shift lever was not fully

The ITBC system is integrated with the vehicle s brake antilock brake and StabiliTrak systems In trailering conditions that cause the vehicle s antilock brake or StabiliTrak systems to activate power sent to the trailer s brakes will be automatically adjusted to minimize trailer wheel lock up This does not imply that the trailer has StabiliTrak If the vehicle s brake antilock brake or StabiliTrak systems are not functioning properly the ITBC system may not be fully functional or may not function at all Make sure Driving and Operating all of these systems are fully operational to ensure full functionality of the ITBC system The ITBC system is powered through the vehicle s electrical system Turning the ignition off will also turn off the ITBC system The ITBC system is fully functional only when the ignition is in ON RUN Connecting a trailer that has an air brake system may result in reduced or complete loss of trailer braking There may be an increase in stopping distance or trailer instability which could result in personal injury or damage to the vehicle trailer or other property Use the ITBC system only with electric or electric over hydraulic trailer brakes 9 95 Trailer Brake Control Panel 1 Manual Trailer Brake Apply Lever 2 Trailer Gain Adjustment Buttons The ITBC system has a control panel on the instrument panel to the left of the steering column See Instrument

Airbags are designed to supplement the protection provided by safety belts Even though today s airbags are also designed to help reduce the risk of injury from the force of an inflating bag all airbags must inflate very quickly to do their job Here are the most important things to know about the airbag system You can be severely injured or killed in a crash if you are not wearing your safety belt even Continued Warning Continued with airbags Airbags are designed to work with safety belts not replace them Also airbags are not designed to inflate in every crash In some crashes safety belts are the only restraint See When Should an Airbag Inflate on page 3 25 Wearing your safety belt during a crash helps reduce the chance of hitting things inside the vehicle or being ejected from it Airbags are supplemental restraints to the safety belts Everyone in the vehicle should wear a safety belt properly whether or not there is an airbag for that person Because airbags inflate with great force and faster than the blink of an eye anyone who is up against or very close to any airbag when it inflates can be seriously injured or killed Do not sit unnecessarily close to any airbag as you would be if sitting on the edge of the seat or leaning forward Safety belts help keep you in position before and during a crash Always wear a safety belt even with airbags The driver should sit as far b

If multiple paired cell phones are within range of the system the system connects to the first available paired cell phone in the order that they were newly paired to the system To connect to a different paired phone see Connecting to a Different Phone later in this section Pairing a Phone or Device 1 From the Home Page turn the MENU knob to access the PHONE screen button then press the MENU knob to select the PHONE screen button If a device has been previously paired the main Phone menu will be shown If no devices have been paired Step 2 can be skipped Infotainment System Turn the MENU knob and press to select Manage Phones Press the button just below the PAIR screen button A four digit Personal Identification Number PIN appears on the display The PIN is used in Step 5 Start the pairing process on the cell phone to be paired to the vehicle See the cell phone manufacturer s user guide for information on this process Locate the device named Your Vehicle in the list on the cell phone Follow the instructions on the cell phone to enter the PIN provided in Step 3 After the PIN is successfully entered the system confirms the pairing process is complete If the phone prompts to accept connection or allow phone book download select always accept and allow The phone book may not be available if not accepted 7 Repeat steps 1 6 to pair additional phones or

Reading Lamps There are reading lamps in the overhead console and the headliner if equipped To operate the ignition must be in the ACC ACCESSORY or ON RUN position or using Retained Accessory Power RAP 6 8 o Lighting a 4 Press or next to each reading lamp to turn it on or off ce gr Lighting Features Entry Lighting The vehicle has an illuminated entry feature When a door is opened the dome lamps and puddle lamps come on if the dome lamp control is in the DOOR position If the dome lamp control is in the OFF position the lamps do not come on The headlamps parking lamps taillamps and back up lamps turn on briefly at night or in areas with limited lighting when EA is pressed on the Remote Keyless Entry RKE transmitter After about 30 seconds the exterior lamps turn off Entry lighting can be disabled manually by changing the ignition out of the OFF position or by pressing the RKE transmitter button This feature can be changed See Vehicle Locator Lights under Vehicle Personalization on page 5 44 Exit Lighting The interior lamps headlamps parking lamps back up lamps and license plate lamps come on when the key is removed from the ignition The interior lamps turn off automatically in 20 seconds The interior lamps do not come on if the dome lamp control is in the OFF position The exterior lamps turn off immediately by turning the exteri

The Oil Life display must be reset after each oil change It will not reset itself Do not to reset the Oil Life display at any time other than when the oil has just been changed It cannot be reset accurately until the next oil change To reset the engine oil life system press and hold V for several seconds while the Oil Life display is active See Engine Oil Life System on page 10 13 Tire Pressure Shows the approximate pressures of all four tires Tire pressure is displayed in either kilopascal kPa or in pounds per square inch psi If the pressure Instruments and Controls is low the value for that tire is shown in amber See Tire Pressure Monitor System on page 10 62 and Tire Pressure Monitor Operation on page 10 63 Fuel Economy The center displays the instantaneous fuel economy as a number and bar graph Displayed above the bar graph is a running average of fuel economy for the most recently traveled selected distance Displayed below the bar graph is the best average fuel economy that has been achieved for the selected distance The selected distance is displayed at the top of the page as last xxx mi km Next to the odometer the Active Fuel Management displays the number of cylinders the vehicle is running on See Active Fuel Management on page 9 32 Press gt to select the distance or reset best value Use A and V to choose the distance and press V Press A and V to select Reset

The options the vehicle came with and the weight of those options The weight and number of passengers intended to be carried The weight of items added to the vehicle like a tool box or truck cap The total weight of any additional cargo intended to be carried Say for example you have a 318 kg 700 Ib snow plow The total weight of all occupants and cargo inside the cab should not exceed 135 kg 300 Ib This means that you may only be able to carry one passenger But even this may be too much if there is other equipment already adding to the weight of the vehicle Here are some guidelines for safely carrying a snow plow on the vehicle Make sure the weight on the front and rear axles does not exceed the axle rating for each For the front axle if more cargo or passengers must be carried appropriate counter ballast must be installed rear of the rear axle Counter ballast must be properly secured so it will not move during driving Follow the snow plow manufacturer s recommendations regarding rear ballast Rear ballast may be required to ensure a proper front and rear weight distribution ratio even though the actual weight at the front axle may be less than the front axle rating The snow plow manufacturer or installer can assist you in determining the amount of rear ballast required to help make sure the snow plow vehicle combination does not exceed the GVW rating the front and re

22. 10 70 Vehicle Care maintenance affect how fast aging takes place GM recommends that tires including the spare if equipped be replaced after six years regardless of tread wear The tire manufacturer date is the last four digits of the DOT Tire Identification Number TIN which is molded into one side of the tire sidewall The first two digits represent the week 01 52 and the last two digits the year For example the third week of the year 2010 would have a four digit DOT date of 0310 Vehicle Storage Tires age when stored normally mounted on a parked vehicle Park a vehicle that will be stored for at least a month in a cool dry clean area away from direct sunlight to slow aging This area should be free of grease gasoline or other substances that can deteriorate rubber Parking for an extended period can cause flat spots on the tires that may result in vibrations while driving When storing a vehicle for at least a month remove the tires or raise the vehicle to reduce the weight from the tires Buying New Tires GM has developed and matched specific tires for the vehicle The original equipment tires installed were designed to meet General Motors Tire Performance Criteria Specification TPC Spec system rating When replacement tires are needed GM strongly recommends buying tires with the same TPC Spec rating GM s exclusive TPC Spec system considers over a dozen critical specifications that impact
