CustomerService Broadatacom com 9 LBO USB User s Manual Link Bridge Fiber Optic USB Hub Extension Systems 2 4 DC Power Connection Congratulations You are now ready to power up the BCI LBO USB and set up your network connection In order to make sure that you have a proper installation please observe the following 1 Your AC jack has power The 12VDC power supply is working Your electrical system has proper grounding this ensures that your power supply does not suffer from voltage variations 4 Power Surge Protection This is optional but highly recommended A UPS system provides voltage regularity as well as prevents spikes from occurring thus protecting your LBO USB from sensitive voltage conditions The LBO USB derives power from an external 12VDC power supply This power supply is a wall mounted AC DC adapter 100 240 VAC 50 60 Hz 31 5 A This power supply comes standard for the LBO USB Series unless otherwise specified To provide power to the LBO USB simply connect the power supply already provided with the units and connect it to the wall jack You will find one power supply per unit Once the power supply has been connected to the wall jack connect the 12VDC to the unit and the unit should power up immediately If you have any problems or concerns regarding the installation make sure that you have taken the proper steps to ensure a proper power connection Otherwise feel free to contact us for any

LBO USB User s Manual Link Bridge Fiber Optic USB Hub Extension Systems 2 3 2 Optical Fiber Connection Most cable manufacturers identify individual fibers in the fiber cable Select an appropriate terminated fiber Each unit s optical ports in the system are specified for use with Multimode 62 5 125 micron fiber or Singlemode 9 125 micron fiber Follow the ensuing instructions on installing and connecting the fiber optic links 1 Ensure the power is off before proceeding with the fiber optic cable installation 2 Priorto connecting the fiber optic cables remove and save the dust caps from the optical port of both the LBO USB units Clean the fiber optic connector and use a lint free cloth dampened with alcohol to thoroughly wipe the side and end of the ferrule Cross connect the fibers from one unit to the other connecting the near end LBO USB unit s optical TX port to the far end LBO USB unit s optical RX port as illustrated in Figure 2 1 Observe the type of connector you have and connect the optical connector To PC USB Host HOST LBO USB H To USB QUT e e e o o o o peripheral iste devices dida 0 aos 02 LBO USB D UsB 61 usB 1 e e e e oo LINK ae Figure 2 1 Fiber Optic Connection Broadata Technical Support

SB Setup 2 1 Mounting Before installing the units into your housing make sure there is enough space to pull and connect both the electrical and optical cables without stressing them beyond the manufacturer s limitations also known as the bend radius minimum Rack mount kits are available for half size versions only with internal power supplies 2 2 Cabling and Connectors In order to setup the LBO USB properly make sure to observe the following instructions when installing the proper cables The LBO USB requires two parts to the cabling setup the electrical and the optical Broadata Technical Support CustomerService Broadatacom com 7 LBO USB User s Manual Link Bridge Fiber Optic USB Hub Extension Systems 2 3 Electrical Cable Connection The only available cable connections on the electrical side is for the USB connections 2 3 1 Data Channel Connection Use the following steps to connect to your data equipment 1 Before connecting your user supplied eguipment wire up proper cabling to connect from the LBO USB to the end user s USB equipment At the Host end LBO USB H connect one end of computer USB data cable to the user s Host USB equipment e g PC s USB port and the other end to the LBO USB s USB port At the Device end LBO USB D connect up to 4 USB devices e g web cam printers etc to the corresponding ports in the LBO USB D unit Broadata Technical Support 800 214 0222
