User s Manua The RS232 Multi Port Card provides a way to turn a single UPS s RS232 serial port into three separate RS232 serial ports This allows the user to perform a safe and logical shutdown on three servers or workstations simultaneously by using power management software Only one of the three computers can control the UPS the other two computers can only monitor the status of the UPS Connect the RS232 DB9 female to male serial cable to the computer that is going to control the UPS Connect the two RS232 DB9 female to RJ45 cables to the two computers that are going to monitor the status of the UPS Load the power management software on all three computers See the power management software User s Manual to setup the shutdown feature There are two status LEDs on the front panel The Red LED indicates that there is power to the RS232 Multi Port Card The Green LED indicates the working status of the RS232 Multi Port Card When the Green LED is blinking everything is normal when the Green LED is off or on solid this indicates that there is a problem Internal RS232 Multi Port Card Figure 1 Internal RS232 Multi Port Card Installation Procedure of the Internal RS232 Multi Port Card Turn off all the equipment that is plugged into the UPS Turn off the UPS and unplug the UPS s power cord from the wall outlet Remove the two retaining screws from the option slot s cover plate rear panel of the UPS Remove the option slot s c

4. inst faulty materials or workmanship for a period of three years from the date of original purchase by the end user For equipment sites within the United States and Canada this warranty covers repair or replacement of defective equipment at the discretion of Para Systems Repair will be from the nearest authorized service center Replacement parts and warranty labor will be borne by Para Systems For equipment located outside of the United States and Canada Para Systems only covers faulty parts Para Systems products repaired or replaced pursuant to this warranty shall be warranted for the remaining portion of the warranty that applies to the original product This warranty applies only to the original purchaser who must have properly registered the product within 10 days of purchase The warranty shall be void if a the equipment is damaged by the customer is improperly used is subjected to an adverse operating environment or is operated outside the limits of its electrical specifications b the equipment is repaired or modified by anyone other than Para Systems or Para Systems approved personnel or c has been used in a manner contrary to the product s operating manual or other written instructions Any technical advice furnished before or after delivery in regard to use or application of Para Systems s equipment is furnished without charge and on the basis that it represents Para Systems s best judgment under the circumstances but it is use
