1. 1 Peel off and discard the plastic grille and fabric from the OE adapter faces Clean off any dirt or dried adhesive NOTE Ambient temperature should be at least 60 F 16 TC for proper adhesion of the gasket to the speaker grille 2 See Figure 3 Remove the liner from the adhesive backing of the gasket strip 4 Carefully position the gasket to the front of the new speaker grille 2 outer flange and press firmly into place while working around the entire flange perimeter Cut off any excess gasket material leaving no gap 2 of 4 3 Position a new speaker 5 against the rear face of the adapter 1 as shown with the spade terminals pointed inboard and down Align the mounting holes in the speaker and adapter Use the Phillips head screws 6 removed earlier to fasten the speaker to the adapter Tighten the screws to 6 12 in Ibs 0 7 1 4 Nm 4 Position the speaker grille against the face of the adapter as shown with the tweeter 3 to the outboard side of the vehicle Feed the tweeter wires downward and out between the grille and adapter 5 See Figure 2 Connect the wires from the grille mounted tweeter to the spade terminals 1 and 2 on the back of the speaker Different size spade contacts prevent improper assembly 6 Align the mounting holes in the speaker adapter and grille Use the TORX screws removed earlier to fasten the adapter and grille to the inner fairing The top outboard hole is not used 7

8. ze spade contacts prevent improper assembly With the tweeter at the bottom and the mounting holes aligned install the speaker and grille into the speaker box with the four Phillips screws removed earlier Use a crosswise pattern to tighten all four screws Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the remaining speaker on the opposite side of the vehicle then proceed to RETURN TO SERVICE is06363 1 Premium speaker 2 2 Speaker grille 2 3 Tweeter 4 Spade terminals Figure 4 Boom Audio Rear Speaker Kit Components 3 of 4 RETURN TO SERVICE NOTES Before installing the outer fairing check that speakers are operating correctly understanding that full sound quality and fidelity will not be achieved until the outer fairing is completely installed Verify that the ignition key switch is in the OFF position before installing the main fuse 1 Refer to the service manual and follow the instructions given to install the main fuse 2 Turn the ignition key switch to IGNITION but do not start the motorcycle J04932 3 Refer to the ADVANCED AUDIO SYSTEM section of the owner s manual and turn the radio or CD player ON Make sure all speakers are working and front rear fader function is operating correctly If not check speaker wiring 4 Install the outer fairing and windshield per service manual instructions IN USE During use the domed tweeters may appear to take on an orange tint near the base of
