1. Air Comfort Bed Chair Operating Instructions POSITIONING Air Comfort beds and chairs are fitted with infinite locking gas struts allowing the bed or chair to be moved into any number of positions to suit the needs of the individual patient These struts are designed to work best with the added weight of a patient in the bed or chair Please note each gas spring retains a small amount of movement even after it is locked into position and this movement creates a cushioning effect to absorb sharp movements or the involuntary rocking of a patient Beds all models All Air Comfort beds have three gas struts each operating a separate part of the unit Bed position can be adjusted by squeezing and holding the brake handle Manoeuvre the angle to the desired position and then release the brake The gas strut will automatically lock into position Left brake handle labelled BACK operates back angle from vertical seated to horizontal reclining Right brake handle labelled SEAT operates seat tilt from roughly horizontal to 45 degrees tilted Legrest handle located underneath the legrest right hand side facing operates the position of the legrest either up or down Chairs Air Comfort Chairs have only two gas struts The single brake handle operates the angle of the seat It is best to move the seat into position using the left and right brake handles as described above before moving the angle of the back s

3. eat To adjust the legrest use the handle on the side of the legrest Lift to raise and push down while applying a small amount of weight to the legrest to lower Aircomrfort DROP DOWN ARMS WINGS The Air Comfort Deluxe includes drop down arms or wings for patient transfer and other specialised patient needs To adjust arms and wings Pull the spring loaded pin at the top of the wing and move the wing into the desired position four set positions available The pin will spring back into the hole locking the wing into place When adjusting positions push the wing in towards the seat to take pressure off the pin Pull the spring loaded pin at the bottom ofthe arm and drop the arm down to adjust The springloaded pin will automatically lock when the arm is lifted back into the raised position Castors All Air Comfort beds and chairs are fitted with three swivel locking castors and one swivel directional locking castor The directional locking castor can be identified by a green locking pedal To lock the castor push the castor pedal down To release the castor lock lift the pedal Air Seating System The Air Comfort Seating System is comprised of four separate air bladders that overlap to provide complete head to toe pressure relief and superior comfort Each bladder is filled with a specifically calibrated low level of air to ensure maximum pressure relief for the average patient There should be no need t
4. o adjust the level of air or access the bladders unless at the direction of a qualified healthcare professional to fulfill a specific clinical need or if there appears to be a fault All Air Comfort models are extensively pressure mapped during research and development to identify the ideal air levels construction and materials Air Comfort Bed Chair Service Manual CARE AND CLEANING Material Please follow fabric cleaning instructions located on the back of the headrest Frame All exposed metal framing should be cleaned every three months as a minimum or more regularly depending on usage Clean with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly Gas Springs Gas springs must be cleaned and maintained to ensure maximum efficiency and increase the working life of the spring Clean with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly The push rod must also be oiled to maintain seal condition TO FIT OPTIONAL EXTRAS Footrest All Air Comfort beds and chairs can be fitted with a footrest The footrest has a trombone action that can be lengthened to suit the individual patient Two tri nuts are located under the front of the leg rest Turn these nuts anti clockwise to loosen the footrest for repositioning Tighten firmly when finished The footplates can also be flipped to a vertical position to allow easier patient access Meal Tray All Air Comfort beds and chairs can be fitted with a meal tray Two tri nuts are located on the outside of
5. the arms Turn these nuts anti clockwise to loosen the meal tray for repositioning Tighten firmly when finished to ensure the tray can not slip Aircomfort Common Service Concerns Gas springs do not work Do not adjust the gas springs or brake cables If the unit is not operating correctly contact your distributor to discuss your concerns Brake cables and gas springs can be replaced if damaged or if there is a manufacturing fault There is not enough air in the seat For those unfamiliar with the Air Comfort system it can appear that there is not enough air in the air bags The air bags are designed to work together as a unit When the patient is in the seat they will displace the small amount of air throughout the bags to create a thin layer of air cushioning Do not add air to the bags without consulting your distributor or the manufacturer If you believe one of the air bags has deflated remove the cover on the side of the seat and remove the bag in question Examine the bag and the valve for obvious punctures or any sign of damage particularly along the welds To test for a leak inflate the bag making sure the valve is properly secured and leave for several hours to see if it deflates of its own accord If the bag shows signs of leaking air anew bag can be obtained through your Original distributor Puncture kits are available for onsite repairs The seat area has collapsed After settling into its natural sh
