Y Harness Application Step 1 The first time you put the harness on your dog it s easier to separate the front half from the Hip Lift portion The more you use it the easier it is to put on Step 2 With the large handle to the top slip the front half of the harness over your dog s head as shown The handle should rest on top of your dog s spine Step 3 Reaching down between the front legs pull the bottom half of the harness between the front legs Lifting each strap up one at a time bring the male half up to the female half at the top near the handle Step 4 Insert the male half of the fastener into the female half and repeat with the other side Step 5 After the fasteners are attached you can make adjustments to the length of each strap four total Ideally you are trying to position the bottom of the harness under the chest of your dog Step 6 All straps are padded with neoprene sleeves maximizing comfort for your dog Use the neoprene sleeves to tuck the excess strap in leaving a little loop of the strap exposed to tighten when needed Straps will loosen with use Occasional tightening will be necessary will loosen with use Occasional tightening will be necessary Step 7 Once the front half is on open the back half by unfastening one of the two main connectors and the two narrower straps at the back Position the handle directly over the top of the spine and connect the back Hip Lift to the front half with the

6. 7 Tighten each strap by gently lifting up on the section of the strap connected to the harness and simultane ously pulling down on the loose end of the strap dangling from the yoke buckle Repeat the procedure with all six straps making sure that the straps are of equal length when finished 8 Double check that all six straps have been connected to the appropriate buckles on the harness and all the straps have been tightened equally 9 At this point the patient should be securely buckled and attached to the unit 10 Slowly roll the unit forward toward the front of the treadmill This position will allow you to both roll the unit and assist the patient with stepping forward onto the treadmill walking surface 11 When the patient steps up on the treadmill quickly re tighten all four straps as necessary to increase the support provided by the unit 12 Continue to roll the unit over the treadmill as far forward as possible while the patient walks 13 Once the unit is at the front of the treadmill lock the caster brakes 14 Double check to see that the unit is locked into place and that the patient is in the center of the treadmill walking surface 15 To exit the unit reverse the process www LiteGait com W mobility research 18 1 800 332 9255 Training with LiteGait Y Over Ground 1 Adjust the yoke height so that it is approximately 5 inches above the patient s head when standing on four limbs Or lower the yoke so that

10. ate midsection straps Connect the buckles and pull on all straps until taut Step 7 Check connections two to four overhead straps connected to the yoke and midsection straps at the patient s sides two groin back straps coming out from between the patient s back legs and connected to yoke brackets two front straps coming out from between the patient s front legs and connected to yoke brackets and the shoulder piece buckle on the patient s back Step 8 Your unit can now be used for over ground therapy or to assist the patient in stepping onto the treadmill Step 9 With higher level patients the unit may be positioned over the treadmill before the patient is buckled into place www LiteGait com Vv mobility research 17 1 800 332 9255 Training with LiteGait Over Treadmill 1 The yoke height should be adjusted so that the top is approximately 5 inches above the patient s head when standing on the treadmill so that the hardware hanging from the yoke is just out of the reach of patient s head 2 Lock the directional locks and position the unit over the treadmill 3 Position the patient at the rear of the treadmill walking surface facing the treadmill 4 Roll the unit to the rear of the treadmill and lock the caster brakes 5 Attach the four Velcro pieces on the overhead straps hanging from the yoke to the harness 6 Attach the two buckles from the shoulder piece to the front short side of the yoke

18. lace The caster will lock the swivel of the caster r ER and rotation of the wheel Locking all four casters This section intentionally left blank will make the device stationary NOTE While locking the caster prevents rolling of the unit it DOES NOT prevent the unit from sliding on a sloped slippery floor The unit should only be used on a flat floor away from stairs or ramps NEVER leave a pa tient unattended in the unit Directional Locking Casters Directional lock casters are indicated by a green sticker in the locking lever To lock the di rectional locking casters press the tab and align the caster with the frame Once Aligned this locks the swivel of the casters and is beneficial for walk ing in a straight path or placing LiteGait over a treadmill Once the unit is positioned over a tread mill all four caster brakes need to be locked Directional Locking Casters with Treadmill Position LiteGait near the treadmill or where you wish the patient to begin walking Roll LiteGait towards the front of the tread mill until the casters line up parallel to the treadmill or parallel to the path the pa tient will follow a hallway for example Press the directional locks to lock swivel of casters LiteGait can now be easily rolled back and forth over the treadmill or on a straight path in the ther apy room or hallway www LiteGait com Vv mobility research 14 1 800 332 9255 Using Your LiteGaito
