SHAVER MOTOR DESCRIPTION Power Supply for the ice shaving function TROUBLESHOOTING Shaver Motor won t run Reset Button isin off position Check the following 1 Power supply check wiring 2 Check shaver belt for wear 3 Jamming of Ice Bowl see next page 4 Shaver Relay This directs current to Shaver Motor If Relay malfunctions the Shaver Motor will not operate To determine if Relay is functioning disconnect its wires and hook up a new Relay and test 5 Check drink board selector 6 Check Main Power Board The last step before replacing a Shaver Motor isto hook up a direct power line to the motor and test 19 PART 3 SHAVER MOTOR Cont To clear the Ice Shaver Bowl follow these procedures 1 Remove Ice Skirt 2 Remove Ice Bowl Cone 3 Unscrew and remove Ice Scrambler Lift out rotary wing 4 If debrisis found e g bottle caps check Shaver Blade for damage and replace REPLACEMENT 1 Follow beginning steps 2 Remove Shaver Motor Belt 20 3 PART 3 SHAVER MOTOR REPLACEMENT Cont Remove four bolts securing Shaver Motor to main shaft Disconnect wires bv snipping them as close to the motor as possible When connecting new motor be sure to use pig tails and electrical tape to splice wires Follow reverse procedures to install new Shaver Motor PART 4 BLENDER MOTOR DESCRIPTION Power Supply for Blender function TROUBLESHOOTIN

AR NUT FINE SAFETV SWITCH COLLAR NUT COARSE 40 SECTION IV TROUBLESHOOTING Inconsistent Ice Check that Blade and Assembly are secure Check Blade for damage Also check shaver belt for wear If the ice being used is changed the ice flow will be affected and will have to be readjusted Blender operates shaver doesn t Disconnect Power Cord and check Ice Bowl for jamming If okay connect Power Cord and press Reset Button If problem continues check wiring to Shaver Motor and Relay Shaver and Blender operate but Blades are not spinning in Blender Cup Check Blender Blade assembly for frozen bearings or check blender belt for wear Machine is in the On position with Stop Light On Drink buttons will not function Check connection from Drink Board to Main Power Board Replace Drink Board and or main Power Board Machine runs continuously and or operates erratically throughout its cycle 1 See Drink Board operation Section II 2 Check Main Power Board Ice mounding machine not blending properly 1 Check portions on mix and liguor 2 Machine out of adjustment see Section adjustments 41 10 Machine leaking water drains backing up 1 Drain isdogged 2 Drink Hose below water line 3 Drain Hose not positioned properly to provide maximum water flow See Section Drain System Loud noise during mix cycle Check 1 Worn Blender Belt 2 Blender Bearings 3 Blender

G If machine does not blend check 1 2 Power supply wiring Blender Belt for tension or wear Frozen Blender Bearings Blender Relay This directs current to the Blender motor If this malfunctions the Blender motor will not function The best way to determine if Relay is functioning isto disconnect its wires and hook up a new Relay and test Check drink board selector 21 6 Main Power Board The last step before replacing a Blender Motor isto hook up a direct power line to the motor and test REPLACEMENT 1 Follow beginning steps 2 Remove two screws on mounting bracket located behind Blender Motor 3 Position machine on its back 4 Remove Grill Cover and Blender Belt 5 Remove three screws securing Blender Base to bracket and three screws securing Blender Motor Note location of Blender Motor screws asthis relatesto the tautness of the Blender Belt 22 PART 4 BLENDER MOTOR TROUBLESHOOTING Cont 6 Disconnect wires by snipping them as close to the motor as possible 7 Reverse procedure to install new motor PART 5 BLENDER BASE BEARINGS Replace bearings when excessive noise occurs during blending cycle REMOVING BEARINGS 1 With a flathead screwdriver and hammer strike Aluminum Clutch spinning it to the left Remove Clutch and washer If this does not work remove the blender grill cover With a pair of pliers squeeze the pulley and turn the clutch counter cloc

Motor 4 Blender Blade Assembly Ice Shaver motor running not shaving ice Check 1 Blade adjustment 2 Ice bridging ice fusing together and getting caught in Bowl 3 Shaver Motor Belt for slippage No power to machine Check 1 Power Supply 2 Safety Switch operation 3 Wire connections 4 Fuse in Main Power Board 5 On Off Switch 42 SECTION V MAINTENANCE DAILY CLEANING PROCEDURES Run the blender to shave most of the remaining ice in the machine You should leave a few cubes in the bottom of the hopper Remove the hopper lid and pour one full measuring cup 6 ounces of KAY 5 Sanitizer Cleaner solution around the bottom of the hopper See picture 1 Replace the lid and shave the last few cubes into the blender Then pour 4 ounces of KAY 5 Sanitizer Cleaner into the pan located in the front of the machine and let drain See picture 2 Unplug the machine 4 Sanitize the hopper and its with KAY 5 Sanitizer Cleaner solution Leave the lid off and let the unit drv overnight Remove the splash guard from the ice chute then wash rinse and sanitize in the 3 compartment sink filled with KAY 5 Sanitizer Cleaner solution Put it on the drain board to air dry 6 Put the blender cup on the base of the ice shaver and twist to the left counterclockwise to loosen the cup support from the blender cup top Remove the cup top blender blade assembly and two rubber gaskets from cup support Carefully wash rinse

STALLATION Cont Ice Flow Adjustment Cont STEP 1 Fill Ice Hopper to within one inch of the top STEP 2 Adjust ice flow for the desired size drink Adjustment screw 15 located to the right of the ice chute Turn the adjustment nut dockwise for more ice and counter clockwise for lessice Use the following chart for calibrating to the desired size drink DRINK SIZE MIX 10 oz 3 5 07 12 oz 4 0 oz 14 oz 4 5 02 16 oz 5 5 OZ The plastic ice container and LIQUOR 1 11 02 1 115 02 1 15 02 l 11 oz Pelouze Scale shown are available through Island Oasis ICE 6 oz 7 0 oz 8 0 oz 9 0 oz PART 4 OPERATION MAKING 2 DRINK The following is based a 12 oz drink STEP 1 Thaw product completelv shake well and pour 4 oz into measuring cup STEP 2 Pour 1 1 2 oz of liguor into measuring cup NOTE When making non alcoholic drinks substitute liguor by increasing Island Oasis mix by one ounce 10 PART 4 MAKING FROZEN DRINK Cont STEP 3 Pour contents of measuring cup into Blender Cup STEP 4 Place Blender Cup on base and press the 1 Drink Button STEP 5 Remove Blender Cup and pour into glass The finished product should have a smooth consistent texture that will fill the glassto the top 11 PART 4 MAKING FROZEN DRINK Cont MULTIPLE DRINKS Once the SB3 X has been calibrated for a pa

12. ated at the top right of Power Board You may find it necessary to remove Power Board from its housing Fuse rating 0 1 amp REPLACEMENT 1 Follow beginning steps 2 Remove Cover from housing 16 PART 1 MAIN POWER BOARD REPLACEMENT Cont 3 Pinch four white spacersin order to remove Power Board from its housing 4 Disconnect wiring to Main Power Board see Wiring Diagram 5 Install new Board by following reverse procedures PART 2 DRINK DISPLAY BOARD DESCRIPTION Serves as the Main Control Center for all functions of the machine TROUBLESHOOTING Drink Board functions do not work properly check connections to Main Power Board and for any condensation build up on wire connections Before replacing Drink Board plug in a new board and test functions REPLACEMENT 1 Follow basic first steps 2 Disconnect wire connectionsto Main Power Board 3 Remove top and bottom screws securing Drink Board 17 PART 2 DRINK DISPLAY BOARD REPLACEMENT Cont 4 Remove center nut and bolt You will have to access center bolt through front of Board Remove On Off Switch and decal to locate bolt Be sure to save Drink Board insulator X alla jaate 5 Make certain Drink Board is placed into position properly Note that the connector wires sit to the right of the Board 6 Do not over tighten center nut or fastening screws too tight Board will not operate correctly 18 PART 3
13. ev and Sleeve Shaft Pull shaft out of housing from the top Note position of top bearing 26 PART 6 MAIN SHAFT BEARING REPLACEMENT Cont 7 Remove snap ring holding bottom bearing in place 8 Remove bottom bearing To remove bottom bearing use a screwdriver and hammer and punch out bearing from the top 9 Replace new bearing on top and bottom Re install snap ring Slip main shaft down through housing 10 Re assemble all parts 27 PART 7 ICE SHAVER BLADE The Shaver Blade isa double edge design that cannot be resharpened TROUBLESHOOTING e f ice the machine becomes inconsistent in the texture check Blade for damage and replace e f there isnot enough ice being shaved check the Blade for dullness In this case the Blade can be adjusted higher to give you the ice flow needed REPLACEMENT 1 Remove Ice Chute 2 Remove two screws securing Blade to assembly and replace 3 When new Blade is installed you must re adjust ice flow 28 PART 8 RESET SWITCH DESCRIPTION Protects Ice Shaver Motor from sudden power surges and jamming of the Ice Bowl TROUBLESHOOTING When Reset Button malfunctions check wiring to Shaver motor and Shaver relay REPLACEMENT 1 Remove screws securing Reset Switch 2 Remove wires and install new Switch PART 9 DRAIN SYSTEM DESCRIPTION There are a series of hoses that make up the Shaver Blender Drain System These must be
14. k Board functions prior to operating On Off Switch Provides power to the unit Stop Button When activated machine will shut down and cancel drink cycle Drink Buttons Drink cycle will begin when any of these buttons are pushed Shaver Blender Buttons Use these to manually shave ice and to manually blend PART 3 SET UP AND INSTALLATION Cont 7 ADJUSTMENTS A Shaver and Blender Motor Timing Timing on both Shaver and Blender Motors is set at the factory Be sure to check these adjustments prior to installation The drink cycle will run for a total of nine seconds The Shaver Motor will engage at the press of the Drink Button and run for four seconds The Blender Motor will engage two seconds after Drink Button is pushed and run for seven seconds These adjustments will vary according to the drink size Please refer to STEP 3 of Ice Flow Adjustment Timing adjustments are very sensitive Therefore only slight turns of the Adjustment Screws are necessary Turn right to increase timing and left to decrease Timing adjustments should only be used to make the texture of shaved ice finer i e smoothies Not to be used for ice flow adjustments B Ice Flow Adjustment Adjustment of the Ice Flow is key to the function of the Shaver Blender and weighing the ice isthe only accurate measurement Because ice texture varies this adjustment must be made at the time of installation PART 3 SET UP AND IN
15. kept clean to maintain water flow 29 PART 9 DRAIN SYSTEM Cont TROUBLESHOOTING If drain lines are not kept clean a build up of algae will occur This will block water flow and cause back up and possible leaks The use of Cleaner will prevent this problem To dean clogged drain lines use a small wine bottle brush available through Island Oasis To check for leaks pour water into top and bottom drain holes Be sure that the rear drain outlet is plugged Note To remove Drain Hose from its connection cut Hose with a razor blade This will allow easv removal PART 10 BLENDER CUP The Blender Cup was designed to sit on the Blender base in one position oniv This isto prevent damage to the black Blender Cup clutch When these clutches are worn the Blender Cup will either vibrate excessively or not blend at all To replace black clutch grasp Blender Blades with a heavy rag and unscrew clutch 30 11 SAFETY SWITCH The purpose of the Safety Switch isto interrupt power to the machine when the cover is removed If the Safety Switch is not performing this function check that the Upper Safety Switch Rod is moving freely in its sleeve and making contact with the Lower Metal Switch Rod If there isno contact being made remove Ice Skirt Hopper This will expose the metal collar housing the Lower Safetv Switch Rod Also check the safetv switch lever Make sure the lever is making contact Loosen nut securi
16. kwise with a screwdriver 2 Remove Blender Grill Cover and Blender Belt 3 Remove Mixing Shaft and Pulley Assembly 23 PART 5 BLENDER BASE BEARINGS Cont 4 Remove bottom bearing by placing a 1 4 punch through through the center of the top bearing and tap gentiv Reverse procedures to remove top bearing NEW BEARING INSTALLATION To install bearings vou will need a 5 16 nut and bolt with two washers 1 Place washer over the bolt Place bearing over the washer 24 PART 5 BLENDER BASE BEARINGS TROUBLESHOOTING Cont 2 Place Bearing into the bottom of the Blender Base Housing Place the second bearing over the bolt Place the washer over the bearing Place the nut on the bolt and tighten until bearings are seated flush 3 Pit sleeve as shown This will prevent bearing from spinning 4 Place the wave washer over the bearing shaft and pulley Slide the shaft through the bottom bearing until the threads pass the top bearing Place flat washer over the shaft threads Place clutch onto the shaft and tighten securely 25 PART 6 MAIN SHAFT BEARINGS There are two bearings located on the main shaft housing one at the top and one at the bottom If the main shaft is not spinning freely or excessive noise is evident you should change these bearings REPLACE BEARINGS REM OVE 1 2 Ice Hopper Skirt Scrambler Ice Bowl Shaver Motor Belt Main Shaft Pull

18. pper Cover and 3 Screws 2 Blender Cups 2 10 oz Measuring Cups Safety Switch Rod Drain Hose 5 ft Cleaner Cleaning Instructions Operation Manual Frozen Drink Guide Total Weight 11 Pounds 3 PART 3 SET UP AND INSTALLATION Prior to installations check the general operation of the Shaver Blender at your office See 7 Adjustments When removing the machine from its carton lift from its base Do not lift from the Ice Skirt ICE HOPPER SAFETY SWITCH INSTALLATION Asof July 1990 all Shaver Blender s will have Safety Switches This is a requirement of Underwriters Laboratory The function of this switch is to cut power to the machine when the Hopper Cover is removed STEP 1 Remove four Screws securing the Ice Hopper Skirt PART 3 SET UP AND INSTALLATION Cont STEP 2 With Ice Hopper upside down slide Safety Switch Rod into Sleeve Attach Ice Skirt to Ice Hopper 4 DRAIN HOSE CONNECTION A Attach hose to the Drain Port located beneath the base of the machine B Position Drain Hose downward for maximum water flow Important Keep an air space between Hose and Drain Receptacle Do not plumb directly to Drain Pipe PART 3 SET UP AND INSTALLATION Cont 5 LEG ADJUSTMENT In order for water to drain properly position the machine on a level surface and adjust legs so that the machine will tilt at a slight angle to the rear 6 DRINK DISPLAY BOARD Familiarize yourself with the Drin
