4. rienced radio TV technician for help Introduction Congratulations on your purcha se ofa KIND audio power ampli fier We would like to thank you for your confidence in us and our products The power ampli fier was hand made in Italy All the components were specially selected Although the amplifier was designed to allow strai ghtforward and uninterrupted operation improper handling or incorrect installation could damage the power amplifier Your amplifier represents the latest technology in power ampli fier design Please read this manual carefully as it contains information vital to the safe ope ration of your amplifier Unpacking Check the carton box and its contents immediately to see if there is any sign of damage Upon unpacking inspect the amplifier if you detect any dama ge inform the forwarding agent without delay and ask for the damage to be documentated Claims can only be made against the forwarder agent by the con signee Be sure to save the car ton and all packaging materials for the carrier s inspection It s a good idea to save the car ton and packing material even if the amplifier has arrived in good condition Should you ever need to ship the unit back to KIND or one of its Service Center Using only the original factory packaging will be the best way to save the unit from carrier negli gence Installation Mounting All DDX models amplifiers are 2 rack space units that can mount in
5. amplifiers protection circuits and is not switchable When engaged is indicated by illumina tion of CLIP LIM LED and the channel gain will automatically be reduced protecting the loud speakers against the damage for istorted signal The limiter func tion is activated automatically as soon as the amplifier is overdri ved or there is uncontrolled feedback oscillation or an improper equipment setting or malfunction upstream from the amplifier The normal program transient will not trigger the limi ter only steady or excessive clip ping will Thermal Protection The temperature management system constantly monitors the heatsink temperature If the heat sink reaches 60 C the Hi Temp LED will start to blinking In this condition the respecive channel input signal will decrease auto matically until a temperature balance is reached If the ampli fier s working conditions still ina dequate and the 75 C will be reached the Hi Temp LED stops blinking and will remain light on and both amplifier s channel will be muted until temperature decrease to normal operating level with an automatic reset system L S C Load Security Control This system constantly monitors the current at the amplifier s out put and the input signal status hen load s current exceed the amplifier s limit the output volta ge will be automatically re adju sted to keep the amplifier in a security condition The L S C will have a

7. nit per ogni sensibilit guadagno E da notare che ogni incremento del guadagno abbasser il rappor to N Per il setup vedi pagina KIND DDX models Power Amplifiers models Page 10 models Selectable low frequency filter One of the advantages of your amplifier that will let you expand the application range is the built in filter each channel has its own internal selectable LF filter This filter attenuates the signal level of frequencies beneath 30 or 75Hz and allows the amplifier to be optimized to the speaker system When the filter is swit ched off the input rolls off at 5Hz to protect from DC inputs These filters can be used to e Cut low frequencies for loud speaker equipped with small LF rivers e Cut low frequencies for 100V transformed distribution line For setup see page 13 Stereo Mode standard In stereo mode the channels operate independently with their input attenuators controlling the respective channel s level Recommended minimum nomi nal load impedance for stereo operation is 4 or 2 Ohms per channel as indicated on the spe cifications Either the input con nectors Combo or Europlug may be used to connect the signal to their respective channel Loudspeakers are connected to the speakon outputs A or B For reference see drawings 3 For bench test read the note on page Bridged Mono Mode In Bridged Mono mode both amplifier channels work with the same inp
