TREFACON Sun ONE Calendar Express 6 0 New Features Part Number 816 6713 10 December 2003 Sun ONE Calendar Express 6 0 includes the following new features to help you be more productive when you use your calendar e Free Busy Check Box e Invitees List Changed e Refresh View Option e Tool Bar Repainting Option e XSL Rendering in Client Browser e New Recurrence Model for Recurring Events CAUTION Sun ONE Calendar Express 6 0 includes the Export to Microsoft Outlook option However to avoid potential data problems do not use this option and then import the data into Microsoft Outlook New Feature Description Free Busy Check Box Invitees List Changed Refresh View Option Tool Bar Repainting Option XSL Rendering in Client Browser SSL Support The new Free Busy check box is available when you create a new event When you check this box others calendar users who have Read or Availability permissions for your calendar will see the time of this event blocked out as busy When creating a new event the organizer of the event is no longer automatically included in the Invitees list However the event does appear in the organizer s calendar The Refresh View option can improve your calendar s performance by refresh a Calendar Express view using calendar data stored in a browser cache To use this feature your Calendar Server administrator must set specific configuration parameters on the serv

6. er If this feature is configured at your site Calendar Express displays Refresh View on calendar views on the View tab If you don t see Refresh View on calendar views check with your Calendar Server administrator to see if the feature can be configured at your site The tool bar repainting option causes a Calendar Express view to be repainted refreshed when you click refresh This option is enabled by default If your Calendar Server administrator disables it however clicking refresh on a view takes you back to your default view Calendar Server performs client side rendering by downloading the XSLT processing to your end browser which in turn reduces the processing that must be done by Calendar Server In the current release this feature applies only to Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 0 To use this feature your Calendar Server administrator must set specific configuration parameters on the server Calendar Server supports the Secure Sockets Layer SSL protocol to encrypt data between calendar end users and Calendar Server Your Calendar Server administrator can configure Calendar Server to encrypt only the Calendar Server login or an entire calendar session 2 Sun ONE Calendar Express 6 0 e New Features December 2003 New Feature Description New Recurrence Model for Recurring Events Calendar Server 6 0 uses a new model for recurring events Changes to Calendar Express are as follows Event C
7. reation For Weekly Monthly and Yearly events if the Repeat Pattern does not match the Start date Calendar Server creates the first occurrence of the event using the Repeat Pattern For example if you specify the Repeat Pattern as Weekly and the Repeat On is set to Wednesday but the Start date shows a Monday date Calendar Server creates the first occurrence of the event on Wednesday and not on Monday Date Changes for Recurring Events When a date is changed for an individual instance of a recurring event the new date cannot occur on the same day as an existing occurrence of the same event or skip over or beyond a later occurrence of the same event Otherwise Calendar Express displays an error message Repeat Pattern for Daily Events The new Repeat Pattern for Daily events window includes buttons for Every day Every weekday and Every n days This window no longer includes the pull down menu for Every weekday Monday Wednesday and Friday Tuesday and Thursday and Saturday and Sunday Recurring events that were created with these options and are already in the calendar database are now shown under Repeat Pattern for Weekly Repeat Pattern for Weekly Events At least one day of the week must be selected Otherwise Calendar Express displays an error stating that the recurrence pattern is not valid By defa
