5. n working with springs 1 Remove the wheel 2 With a 2 5mm Allen wrench remove the pad retaining pin from the caliper Fig 1 3 Prime pads are Top Loading using your fingers pull the pad tabs and pad sandwich spring through the window on the top of the caliper Fig 2 4 Using the boxed end of an 8 mm wrench push the caliper pistons back until they bottom This will give you more room to fit in the new pads Walk the piston back and forth until the piston is all the way back in the bore Do the same thing on the other side Caution Don t push the edge of the piston as they may crack or chip Note The pads are the same for inner and outer Installing the pads 5 Place the sandwich spring onto one of the pads so that the sandwich spring feet are on either side of the pad material Fig 3 6 Place the apposing pad onto the sandwich spring so that the sandwich spring feet are on either side of the pad material 7 Pinch the pad tabs together so that the pad material on both pads are touching Fig 4 8 Slide pads and sandwich spring into the window of the caliper until they come to a stop Fig 2 9 Using a 2 5mm Allen wrench install and tighten the pad retaining pin Pad pin torque 10 1in lbs 1 1 0 1 Nm 10 Install the wheel Caution Wear protective eyewear when working with springs Fig 4 WARRANTY IINFORMATION Any Hayes Bicycle Group component found by the factory to be defective in materials an
