Quest Owner s Manual QB5 QB6 QT66 QT88 QC Congratulations for choosing Quest loudspeakers Quest speakers have been engineered to deliver the best value in loudspeaker technology available whether they will be used in stereo or home theatre applications Your new Quest speakers are simple to install and will give you many years of trouble free listening We recommend however that you read through this instruction manual to familiarize yourself with the set up and operation of your loudspeakers Your Quest loudspeakers are covered by a 5 year parts and labor warranty Please retain your bill of sale as this document will be requested in the unlikely event that your loudspeakers require servicing Unpacking the loudspeakers Carefully unpack the loudspeakers and retain the carton and packing materials for future use If the speakers have been damaged in transit please inform your dealer immediately Included accessories Qr66 QT88 Spikes Coupling the loudspeaker to the floor will produce better more defined bass performance Brass spike feet are included with the Quest QT66 and QT88 loudspeakers Use of the spike feet is optional and if you are concerned about damaging a hardwood surface you may choose not to use them It is recommended however that the spike feet be used when placing loudspeakers on a carpeted floor If you choose to use the spike feet carefully lay the speaker on its side screw on the spikes then2. carefully flip the speaker upright once installed Step 1 Positioning the loudspeaker When deciding where to place the loudspeakers in your room consider the following For good stereo definition speakers should be at least 6 8 feet 1 8 2 5m apart Tweeters should be positioned ideally at ear level Bass output will be enhanced when placing the speaker near a corner Wiring should be out of the way so as to not pose a hazard to traffic in and out of the room E Left Right Channel Channel CLI Listening Position Positioning Tip The room s characteristics size shape and surface treatments will affect the quality of the stereo image and the quantity of bass that you hear Speakers should be kept some distance away from reflecting surfaces as these can adversely affect the stereo imaging experienced at the listening position As a general rule keep speakers at least 12 18 inches 30 45cm away from side and rear walls Toeing in the speakers toward the listening position can also help to eliminate phantom audio images and solidify the stereo soundstage Home Theatre Front Channels In home theatre applications place the center channel QC on top of or just below the television with the front left and front right speaker on either side of the TV monitor Home Theatre Rear Channels Rear channel speakers can be either floor standing QT66 QT66 or smaller bookshelf type speakers QB5 QB6 B
