NDC 507 7 Mechatronics Education Based on Hand making Practice for the Students of Mechanical Engineering Design and Production of Autonomous Mobile Robot Hideki YOSHITOMI In the field of science and technology it is necessary to develop a new creative method of education instead of usual passive and uniform oriented style For this purpose the author tried to introduce mechatronics education based on hand making practice for the students of mechanical engineering The practice means design and production of autonomous mobile robot using microcomputer sensor electronic device and so on First approach was executed in a graduation study through a development of automated guided vehicle model In the study several problems existing in these activities i e cost time instruments and interest of the students were investigated Through this trial it was evident that more effective method should be developed for basic education of mechatronics because the students of mechanical engineering would not be proficient in he field So the author introduced a practical program which was a remodeling exercise of a toy model car into the autonomous mobile robot In this paper the effective methods of mechatronics education are proposed through these trial results 1
