11. completely Double output amplifier bi amping Another special and unique feature of the M10 is the duplication of the output current amplifier power amplifier Each of these output amplifiers is connected to a pair of loudspeaker terminals The two output amplifiers are normally wired in parallel in order to increase current delivery capability In HighCurrent operation mode see below the two output amplifiers can be switched to bi amping mode In conjunction with loudspeakers with bi wiring terminals the bass and mid high frequency circuits of the speakers can be driven separately Even if the loudspeaker connected to the amplifier is not fitted with bi wiring bi amping terminals the two loudspeaker outputs can still be connected to the loudspeaker terminals using separate cables In this wiring arrangement all the internal and external speaker leads are wired in parallel and all four loudspeaker relays present in the M10 also operate in parallel This results in extremely low dynamic internal resistance and optimum damping for the loudspeaker The outcome is excellent control of speaker cone travel maximum possible control in the bass range and superb detail resolution in music reproduction 29 Mains section The M10 features a total of three independent mains power supply units with three high quality torroidal transformers with low leakage fields A high voltage mains section with extremely sophisticated stabilisat

27. compatibility of the lacquer and the unit s feet on a non visible point The unit should be placed on a rigid level base When placing the unit on resonance absorbers or anti resonant components make sure that the stability of the unit is not reduced The amplifier should be set up in a well ventilated dry site out of direct sunlight and away from radiators The unit must not be located close to heat producing objects or devices or anything which is heat sensitive or highly flammable When installing the amplifier on a shelf or in a cupboard it is essential to provide an adequate flow of cooling air to ensure that the heat produced by the unit is dissipated effectively Any heat build up will shorten the life of the amplifier and could be a source of danger Caution There must be plenty of space around the amplifier on all sides so that waste heat can dissipate freely Maintain a minimum distance of 20 cm to walls ceilings shelves or other objects which could hinder the circulation of cooling air Ensure that the fan on the underside of the amplifier is not blocked or obstructed and that air can enter the fan unhindered Set up the amplifier in such a position that children cannot touch it ATTENTION The valves and the valve cover must be installed correctly before you use the unit for the first time The procedure is described in the section Installing the valves In case the tubes are already

29. e XLR socket is connected to the pre amplifiers XLR output socket Note The M10 is equipped with three variants of input socket Cinch XLR symmetrical 3 pin XLR symmetrical 4 pin When connecting equipment only one variant may be selected at any one time The inputs not used must be left vacant RLINK Control input output T A RLINK systems Both sockets are equivalent one is used as input the other one serves as output towards other RLINK devices Mains input This socket is for mains connection and contains the main fuse The fuse should only be replaced with another fuse rated at the values printed on the amplifier For correct connections refer to the sections INSTALLATION AND WIRING and SAFETY NOTES K Loudspeaker terminals The M10 is equipped with four high quality WBT 0710 nextgen loudspeaker terminals rendering it suitable for bi amping and bi wiring modes It features two separate out put stages which can either be wired in parallel or used for bi amping Notes on possible bi wiring bi amping arrangements for the M10 can be found in the Technical Summary in the chapter entitled Back panel controls and in the wiring diagrams in the Appendix The output stages are designed to cope with a minimum load of 2 Q but continuous operation at very high volume produces high currents in the power output stages which can lead

33. ed in parallel The result is better dynamic damping of the loudspeaker resulting in improved control of the speaker drivers transient response 34 Note For stereo mode it is essential to employ the same method of wiring for your loudspeakers Set both M10 amplifiers to the same mode of operation Remote control of the M10 General The M10 can be operated using the F10 remote control handset It receives its remote control commands via the RLINK master device e g the P10 pre amplifier This only works if an RLINK cable is connected between the pre amplifier and the M10 If the M10 is operated without an RLINK connection manual operation or powered on via trigger contact of the 4 pin XLR socket then the remote control functions described here cannot be used On the following diagrams all buttons used for the control of the M10 are marked All other buttons are without function for the M10 Switching a V system on and off To switch the system on press the button briefly in order to switch the pre amplifier on The M10 is then switched on automatically via the pre amplifier To switch the system off hold the button pressed in until all the devices in the V system have switched to stand by mode The pre amplifier integrated amplifier or receiver is the last device to switch to stand by mode after about four seconds Note If you have switched the machine off using the main sw
34. edy Disconnect the mains supply wait about 3 minutes and plug in again Switch the amplifier on Problem No output signal at the loudspeaker A LED flashes alternately PROTECTION circuit tripped Cause 1 The PROTECTION circuit has cut in due to overheating or excessive levels Remedy Reduce volume if the amplifier does not Switch on again automatically after about 20 seconds it has become too hot and should be left for a few minutes to cool off Cause 2 Short circuit in the loudspeaker cables e g projecting wire ends at the speaker terminals or mechanical damage to the cable Remedy Check speaker leads and terminals twist wire ends together neatly replace damaged cable Cause 3 Excessive levels due to poor earth contact Remedy Unplug input lead and wait to see if the power amplifier switches on again automatically If so check and replace input leads if necessary 45 Cause 4 Mains interference low voltage Remedy If the mains voltage should fall to an extreme level or if powerful interference should occur in the mains cables the M10 automatically switches the loudspeaker outputs off in order to avoid adverse effects sound quality and possible damage to the loudspeakers When the mains supply is stable again the speaker outputs are automatically Switched back on Problem When volume is very high the unit switches off repeate
35. ent Betrieb und 100 V High Power Betrieb umzuschalten Bei der niedrigeren Betriebsspannung wird der Ruhestrom in den End stufen mehr als verdoppelt so dass die Stromverst rker des M10 bis ca 40 Watt im Class A Betrieb laufen Diese High Current Betriebsart empfehlen wir insbe sondere f r wirkungsgradstarke Lautsprecher und allgemein auch f r das H ren bei normaler Lautst rke Die High Power Betriebsart stellt eine maximale Aus gangsleistung von weit ber 1500 Watt an 2 zur Verf gung Diese Betriebsart empfehlen wir insbe sondere bei hochohmigen Lautsprechern mit Impedanzen von ber 6 Ohm und generell immer dann wenn h chste Leistung gefordert wird Schutzschaltung Der M10 verf gt ber eine mikroprozessorgesteuerte Schutzschaltung die den Verst rker selbst und soweit m glich auch die angeschlossenen Lautsprecher vor Besch digungen sch tzt Die Schutzschaltung berwacht die Netzspannung die internen Betriebsspannungen und die Betriebs temperatur des M10 Ferner werden die Lautsprecher ausg nge auf Gleichspannungsfehler Kurzschl sse und berlastungen berwacht Im Falle einer berlastung oder Fehlfunktion werden die Lautsprecherausg nge sofort abgeschaltet Die Betriebsspannungen und Ruhestr me werden herunter gefahren um eine schnelle Abk hlung zu erreichen Nachdem alle Betriebsparameter wieder im Sollbereich liegen schaltet sich der M10 wieder ein Betriebs Spannungen und Ruhestr me
36. er st rkers Die Stromverst rkerstufen sind eingangsseitig mit MOS FET Treibertransistoren aufgebaut die hinsicht lich ihrer Kennliniencharakteristik hervorragend mit den 6SN7 Trioden harmonieren Auf der Ausgangsseite sind die Stromverst rker mit insgesamt 20 extrem leistungs f higen Ringemitter Bipolartransistoren best ckt Diese Transistoren erf llen h chste Anforderungen hinsicht lich Stromlieferf higkeit und Bandbreite Samtliche Verstarkerstufen des M10 sind so konzipiert dass sie absolut linear und ohne Verzerrungen arbeiten Um dies zu erreichen kommen nur die besten Bauteile zum Einsatz die bei uns f r jedes einzelne Ger t in aufw ndigen Selektionsprozessen exakt auf einander abgestimmt und individuell abgeglichen werden Der beim M10 erreichte Grad der Linearit t und Band breite ist so hoch dass auf eine ber Alles Gegen kopplung komplett verzichtet werden kann Doppelte Ausgangsverst rker Bi Amping Eine weitere Besonderheit die dem M10 eine Allein stellung verleiht ist die doppelte Ausf hrung der Aus gangs Stromverstarker Leistungsverst rker Jeder dieser Ausgangsverst rker ist mit einem Paar Lautspre cherklemmen verbunden Die beiden Ausgangsver st rker sind im Normalfall zur Erh hung der Strom lieferf higkeit parallel geschaltet Im Hochstrombetrieb s u k nnen die Ausgangsverst rker auch im Bi Amping Betrieb zur getrennten Versorgung der Bass und Mittelhochtonzweige entsprec
37. er unzu g nglich ist ACHTUNG Vor Inbetriebnahme sind die R hren und die R hrenabdeckung korrekt laut Kapitel R hren einsetzen zu montieren Sollten die R hren bereits installiert sein kontrollieren Sie diese bitte auf korrekten Sitz in den R hrensockeln Das Ger t darf nicht ohne R hrenabdeckung betrieben werden Vor Inbetriebnahme m ssen die Griffe abge schraubt werden und durch die Befestigungs schrauben ersetzt werden Diese Schrauben vor Inbetriebnahme des Ger tes fest anziehen 18 Mechanische Entkopplung Die Standfl che und der Untergrund auf dem hoch wertige HiFi Ger te aufgestellt werden haben einen nicht zu untersch tzenden Einfluss auf die erreichbare Klangqualit t Die Standfl che sollte m glichst schwer stabil hart und eben sein Das Ger t ist mit den neuentwickelten T A Vibrations absorberf en ausgestattet Diese F e erreichen durch ihre inneren D mpfungseigenschaften eine sehr gute Entkopplung des Ger tes vom Untergrund Hierdurch werden Vibrationen des Untergrundes aufge fangen und die empfindlichen R hren werden vor Mikro phoniest rungen gesch tzt Damit die Vibrationsabsorber einwandfrei funktionieren k nnen sollte das Ger t frei aufgestellt werden Ein Kontakt des Geh uses mit W nden usw sollte vermie den werden Hinweis Durch Hinein und Herausdrehen der T A Absorberf e kann ein optimaler H henausgleich bei Unebenheiten des Unt
